It's losing to Man of Steel, which:
- Had a much more limited international release
- Was far less marketed (and had a notably smaller marketing budget)
In fact, it's even losing to Man of Steel BEFORE we account for inflation.
A "flop" to me is any movie that fails to meet its expectations. And I'd be surprised if Zaslav didn't expect this movie to beat the Man of Steel.
Will WBD publicly admit that it was a flop? Not before they decide to end the DCU. Because that's just going to scare away investors.
