I would agree that Kodaka is adverse to doing anything actually romantic somehow, maybe he has that fandom brain to not make anything too canon. But yes as you can see Oyama despite writing everyone kind of OOC saw that Takumi putting his arm around Tsubasa as the right move for a guy in that situation, Kodaka did not see that most regular human beings would want to hug and comfort Darumi after she admits to not only her deepest secrets but her abuse as well.

Maybe Kodaka was averse to doing straight up romance himself but I feel it was quite the missed opportunity to not have Takumi do something during the scene when Darumi opens up to him. Really should’ve hugged her.

All the other romances in the game that went as far as kissing were done by the various other writers, even Uchikoshi had the vague romantic feelings be there it was the slasher guy that wrote Hiruko being into Takumi and kissing him at the end. Kodaka’s 2nd scenario romantic feelings is just the tiny interactions with Nozomi and hinting at things again. Eva route he worked on it but they skipped all the romance and jumped to the relationship at the end.

That is something I thought of in an alt route that if Takumi gets close to Darumi in a normal scenario he would want to stay close to her and protect her. And that getting them closer and of course falling in love would bring up other issues.
