I don't even know what kind of mental gymnastics you used to get those these pitiful insults. I just agreed that strafe jumping and equivalent old staple skills have turned useless. Because those games used to be somewhat PC exclusive with maybe a port or a spin-off title for consoles. But now everything has to be homogenised for console players where you can't pull the most basic strafe jump. It all got replaced with sliding gimmicks that have no depth whatsoever. I'm willing to bet you can't even clear bridge to rail in Q3DM6 or even now what it is.
And for the record, I'm just posting random pictures moron. Lastly, singleplayer wasn't shunned because we had absolute bangers on that front too. I don't know what kind of messed up timeline you come from.

Well, you did play as a copper. I'd rather have NPC's jump out of the way than a lame game over screen. GTA without the possibility of random violence would be very strange. Not saying it's outside the realm of possibilities but this series started out by rewarding you for mowing down a line of civilians. So fuck me, that would probably be the weirdest development I ever witnessed.

The problem with open world is that it's deemed a necessity by the suits to market their games. There isn't inherently anything wrong with it and yes, it comes with a sense of freedom. But too much freedom can be a bad thing. A lot of times they bloat up the map with a lot of empty and dull spaces that serve 0 purpose outside of padding the runtime, so to speak.

There's a middle ground to be found, certain games utilize a somewhat open and explorable spaces without being a massive boring map. Linear and shorter games shouldn't be looked down on, there's still a space for those. Not every game has to be a 100+ hr slog. Especially shit like having certain areas gatekept by a certain ability, only to force you back into previously explored areas sucks balls. Sometimes, you just want a tightly focused shorter experience. A game like Sifu for example clearly wouldn't work with an open world.
Claiming only open world games are only worth playing is just a very limited perspective and outright silly.

Yeah, that's why games like System Shock are so well loved you dunce.
