I know this might sound harsh, but I'm glad the mangaka didn't get to finish this series, the MC didn't deserve a happy so I'm glad the manga is unfinished thus never giving him closure, he probably was going for a schlocky 80s horror movie vibe but in those movies the main group of assholes die one by one until there's only 1 or 2 left, here none of the main characters ever dies so you're stuck with mentally unstable retards like the MC for the entirely of it
