RTS games were never "good". They are flawed genre only fun for actual children and manchildren who are impressed by seeing two blobs of armies clash at each other while playing singleplayer. Anything less casual than that and you got yourself a cancerous genre. The biggest proof is any game with rts elements eventually ends up toning down rts mechanics significantly to improve the gameplay and make the game less frustrating. But even then the problem remains.
