Desu my impression was always that the PDF was gonna just be a temporary stop gap until we get a book focused around ZM, similar to Cthonia and that white dwarf article they did. It's lacking some sauce but at least there is a framework to play games and start building lists for

On that note, I'm gonna start planning my shattered legion zm list now

If you weren't dirty casuals, you'd know that the HH books deliberately leave it open to interpretation. Most characters believe what you say, but then there's lots of hints telling a different story.
The prologue to Valdor's book. The Emperor uneven handling of the primarchs, The Board is Set story, The Emperor’s Acuity vision shown to Alivia Sureka. Vulkan noticing how ramshackle was the Imperial Webway. Not even Malcador knowing his full plans. And so on.

At the bare minimum, there's no way to escape the conclusion that the Emperor decided to go with the 40k God Emperor plan once Magnus broke the Webway seals.
Recall people getting pissy over 6 hour and less games all the fucking time during the last decade. Guessing the prominence of open world shit and other odd 'forever games' while military-flavored FPS waned raised the bar?

You are still playing a very close approximation of AoE I's gameplay and AoE II itself technically was balanced around 75 officially. Techs like Logistics weren't really made around the 200 pop cap we've been used to in AoE II, of which technically only became the official standard to balance around by Forgotten Empires.

But given Chariot Archer faggotry, being able to field 100:200-0:400 Villagers to Legionaries that are slower than villagers isn't really that insane.

>Is it a newer campaign?

Nah, Yodit was from Kangz. That said, I might have overlooked this and will stand somewhat corrected, though if it's been the case since HD or a DE change, I'm not sure. Not that it was a particularly good campaign to begin with. But DE DLCs certainly give you more brevity in Castle Age slugfests if they're not mechanically different.
