The show reached a good point with Rom when he told Quark to take his job and shove it and became a junior engineer. That was a good arc for him. But then he manages to invent magic space mines, marries a hottie, and becomes the first space commie Grand Nagus and its all crap. Quark was Nagus for a week and he nearly got killed twice (once by Rom) but I'm supposed to think that his lobeless brother who has no sense for business is going to convert the most capitalist society in the galaxy into space commies based on nothing other than the fact that the prior nagus put him in charge in an act of extreme senility?

Bah! Bah I say! My head canon will be that Rom was killed on his first day in office and Quark made a fortune shorting the Ferengi stock exchange because he knew his brother was a commie retard.

It's still overall a neat set of shows, and it was good how much public support it generated for the space race. But it was unrealistic, even ignoring teleportation and FTL.
