It's also a problem for long-acting substances. As a guy who likes tummy rumbles and slowburn, it's REALLY fucking frustrating having what's supposed to be a slow, in-universe-hours-long building reaction of their gut to lactose/a weird potion/etc. happen almost instantly after they drink it.
