Concept phase. i technically have an early draft document for it done but it's outdated.
It's an AU reimagining of Sonic.
I can share the premise and art if you'd like to see some.
Right now, I'm waiting for my artist to finish all the art before working on the final version of the lore document. Once that's done, work on the comic based on the lore document can begin.

>why make it fan fiction? Why not just make your own fiction?
Because Union relies on the visual language of Sonic and the iconic character designs to sell itself. It's a departure, yes, but it's too derivative of the source material to truly justify making it an original IP. at least, not at first. I have had ideas of making an original IP version of Union as a spinoff, the current working title is 'project Rosian' which has numerous original and public domain characters take the place of the Union cast, for example, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit instead of Sonic, but it's very much so in the conception stages and something I don't plan on pursuing until I find an audience for Union that's interested in this. One of my co-authors, Clem, has been very supportive of this and is the main force driving this.

The point of me and Clem's fanfiction is less so to be 'true' to the 'core' of Sonic and moreso to be derivative takes on aspects of ideas that exist in the original material. It's a fundamental twist, transformative fiction. Not a mere reflection of what already exists. It's fine if you don't enjoy that, truly, but to disparage it for merely existing rather than the execution of what it tries to do is fundamentally missing the point of it and feels like bad faith engagement. It feels just like raw anger at the supposed audacity of it existing at all rather than engaging with it on its level.

Canon reimagining that merges elements of classic JP canon, classic west canon, DIMPs games, Movies, Archie, and SatAM.

"Better Than Adventure"
Sonic Union asks the question, "What if Sonic had a clear continuity, with better brand cohesion and a proper synthesis of Eastern and Western ideas and inspirations, instead of the Adventure Era and the chaos that the Sega Saturn and Sonic X-Treme's failure brought to the franchise?"

What if Sonic was reimagined with continuity in mind? Where characters and settings are foreshadowed, set up and have satisfying payoffs to their arcs? What if the status quo of the world enabled interesting and diverse stories, where any of the major heroic characters could be the protagonist of their own tale?

Windnic is non-negotiable.
The autism is part of the charm.

It is. Which is why these people who say WIND is incompatible with western OCs are dumb.
I'm actually currently working on an AU that centers around the idea of a more eastern style Sonic and more eastern style storytelling that still features the western characters like Sally and so on.
