Don't use the cocktail spells, there's only like 3 good ones (infinite fp for like a couple seconds, lighting sword, and the fire breath one) in the whole list, the rest are basically 3-4 second long time wasters with minimal reward. Only gather the elements for FP and then burn the spells asap and spam real spells.
Best spells are things like stars of ruin, collapsing stars, gravity well, the full/dark moon spells, tibia summons absolutely shreds (on bigger and/or slower enemies), great oracular bubble, black flame stuff is still good, both meteor spells are expensive and only good against big/slow/downed enemies or groups, but they do shred the big bosses. Shattering Crystal is probably one of the first ones you'll get and it's a good day 1 carry until you get better spells.

Pretty average on every souls. I want to play with every character, so I guess Recluse will be on my list at some point. Anyway, thanks for the answer. I will try a few times the raw experience and then search for a mod if it gets too tough.
