No, that approach is great. What was tiring was the old OoT-style "puzzle" solving where every puzzle had a very obvious singular solution that the game telegraphs to you. The only Zelda games with good puzzles before BotW were the Oracle games, and those were made by Capcom.
For as good as the original Zelda was, the puzzles usually amounted to little more than "bomb a wall you would have no idea would lead to anything unless you used the player's guide".
