Let's take THE studio headphone, dt770. This is the spread you get just by buying it. Then you add 10dB positional variation on top of that. Then you add 10dB variation from pad wear on top of that. The result is completely random. You can produce on this - if you don't give a shit. Or if you EQ by ear to speakers in front of you and keep pads fresh and always wear them in the same position.
