They had a fair agreement that Rare got the full rights to Banjo-Kazooie, Blast Corps, and Killer Instinct (which never even got released in Japan) while Nintendo kept any rights to the Donkey Kong and Star Fox characters Rare had any co-ownership in prior to the buyout.
