he's gay, the movie is autobiographical and the original art has a lot of gay allusion for this child character (same name as the call me by your name underage-adult gay romance character), and prior to a few years ago Disney was pushing 'full speed down the slippery slope' but then they started getting called out and legal/political problems and decided to abandon that track. so probably someone said 'give that outright cum-eating-gayboy movie to some women, have them make it subtle or just get rid of it'
