I wasn't talking about the demons.
Even just frieren herself. A borderline immortal person who regrets how she acted in the past and is slowly learning to appreciate the mundane parts of life, and how time changes perspective. Or the fact that she's one of the strongest mages alive, but has no real interest in combat or getting stronger, and instead wants to find out more retarded spells to make fields of flowers or do the dishes faster.
Sure, the series has some comedy/tropey moments here and there, but reducing the entire thing to 'cute girls doing cute things' when that's maybe 10% of the content is not only facetious, but blatantly hatewatching.
It's a good story that's well animated and makes people feel good, with some decent bits of world-building and combat thrown in. That's why people like it. No one is going around calling it the best anime ever, people really mistake something being extremely popular with overall ratings.
t.someone who wouldn't touch 'cute girls doing cute things' anime with a pole and enjoyed frieren a lot
