Go watch Lily CAT if you want a proper retelling of Alien 1979 albeit it sucks that it's only 1 hour, it really needed to be 2 hours and 30 minutes like the original, that's how horror works.

Also if you want the true prequel to Alien 1979 and not Prometheus/Covenant you can go read Blame! & Biomega. Albeit it's still not as "mystical & lovecraftian" considering the lovecraftian silicon life was still originally created by humans and the gooey stuff is created by silicon life, but it basically does what Covenant does but much better.
