I like the interpretation that this was Tenna having a PTSD flashback to the time after Kris flushed the bath bombs and was futilely trying to apologize to avoid a fight.

Someone points out this sounds like something Kris probably said after flushing a bath bomb (implied to happen in chapter 4) which would cause Toriel and Asgore to fight. And the combat sequences represent those fights.
Toriel and Asgore probably argued a lot about Kris being a weird problem child.
