Yeah not really. Thing is, what you want to pass as "burning goodwill" is more malicious compliance and it's solely towards third party developers and not consumers. After all they haven't said no to them, they went along with their ridiculous game key idea for example knowing no one will buy it.
The kicker is that unlike the ps1 and 2 era, there's nowhere to go.
Nintendo and pc players have standards and won't buy their low quality games even if they are ported to their platforms.
Sonyfags just don't buy games period anymore and Sony is going third party anyway.
Xbots don't exist anymore.
Throwing that in with consumers being more aware of companies now than in the past third parties are now basically locked into a situation where they can't even blame Nintendo like they tried to with the N64 since everyone knows they had the option not to but chose the cheapest one.
On the topic of being aware no one trusts journalists concerning Nintendo because of all of their antics during the switch era like the constant rumors of a switch pro and advertising piracy to spite them.
In other words, third party developers are getting fucked by their own scummy tactics and they get to watch their house burned down.
