I've been listening through The Biggest Problem recently for the first time. I'm up to around episode 20 or so and Maddox is getting absolutely fucking intolerable. He'll rile up Dick like crazy but instantly crumble the moment he gets it given back to him. He comes across as a complete snivelling pseudo-intellectual.

I enjoyed the site 20 years ago like everyone else, but knowing that he wasn't putting on a bit and actually was that egotistical in real life makes his downfall easily understandable.

'98 zoomer here. Cost of living stuff is part of it, but that's only half the story. Modern video games just fucking suck. AAA releases are $90 nonsense, and indie games are just inferior repetitions of older games that are too short and bland to even worth the pennies they go for. All my gaming time is spent on Genesis/PS1/NES emulation because they're easy to get into and excellently designed, and mobile games when I just need a quick hit of fun or something to do while I listen to a podcast.

The fact that you millennials constantly dance around the issue of quality in modern gaming when discussing this topic says everything you need to know. Your generation was simply not good at creating entertainment media.

Is there anyone left on the planet who doesn't think the video gaming medium went drastically downhill during the 8th generation and never recovered? /vr/ games are the only ones worth playing, nowadays.
