I'll not argue that Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, and BW2 aren't fantastic, feature complete versions of that region. But to frame having to pay full price for the same game again with bells and whistles every single generation as "the good days" is consumer conditioning in its purest form.
Don't yell that you didn't get a Z version to fix Kalos.
Yell that XY should have shipped feature complete.
Then yell even louder that you shouldn't still be asked to buy two of the exact same game in the first place in an era were connectivity between games is no longer novel.
