I just heard the Q&A and... I'm conflicted. One on hand I worry that this is going to just be 3D Fallout but with Gears. Hop into a Gear for 5 minutes before the batteries run out like Fallout 4s power armor. I hope they don't go too hard on the on-foot sections. On the other hand, it's cool to see the game actually attempt to adapt the tabletop material as a game. I like HG1 and HG2 but they're without a doubt yet another MechWarrior clone. HG2 did things more in the spirit of Heavy Gear but it still had a lot of those trappings. So it's nice to see them be more faithful to the actual universe. But man I would have been totally fine if they just did a linear campaign mech sim game like HG2 again. Also it sounds like they're stripping sim-y mechanics in favor of making it console friendly. I didn't expect them to keep the MechWarrior torso turn controls but I hope they still keep stuff like the Radar, Multi Level croutch, etc. I guess I'm feeling a little bit of what hardcore old Gen AC fans must have felt when they feared the game would be a Soulslike with mechs. Please just let me use guided mortors still.
