Since they're rolling with the noncanon idol bullshit, I hope they use the opportunity to pull in some side characters who could use the love.
Like if you're gonna do it this way, don't keep your head in your ass about "well they weren't like that in the other game".
I'm sure there's some P3 and P4 NPCs who would be cool idols.
