I never bothered with Discovery because it looked so ugly from the previews. The ship looked like a meat locker and the actors could never live up to the legends that came before them.

TNG is already a live action anime. All the characters are anime tropes. It had plenty of low stakes slice of life episodes in between high stakes battles. Data even has an anime aura.
