When they removed gender restrictions for classes when making WoW. It was part of Blizzard's classic "Gameplay first" approach. Which while fine in some narrow cases, it shows a willingness to slowly dilute the setting of all the flavour people loved. Nothing matters at that point, any rule or norm in the setting will be discarded if a game designer can argue for it. Why then would anyone bother learning them in the first place?
