In short: The female lead unlocks her power and jumps to an alternate timeline. So, the new cast is a very similar group to the old-cast in a world where everything is just slightly different, and things go along from there. The entire original cast that we knew for however many chapters is dead/raped. That's why I said the audience is expected to "all our affection towards the entire original crew onto the new crew.".
