Yuuka is the one used to introduce the entire relationship mechanic and gets focused on before Volume 1 even starts.
Arona is attached to (You) and is clearly related to the primary mystery of the game which is where the fuck is the GSC president
Abydos being the main character is like saying the entire Pikachu line is the main character of Pokémon. Nobody gives a fuck about Pichu and Raichu. Being the app icon doesn't extend your status to those around you. Half of Abydos is irrelevant which is really sad considering there's only fucking five of them.
