if u curl without support under elbow - rest your torso through arm on elbow/forearm, just lean on elbow with dumbbell in hand sitting
if u curl (preacher included) without this setup which i believe is my own invention, never heard of anyone doing it then delt is flexing holding humerus upright or trying to flex shoulder joint in preachers and it blocks long head of biceps shoulder tendon from moving freely
resulting sputtering contraction will bring u injury and no biceps
