Some of this stuff seems to be references to the in-universe Book of Nod. If you're not a VTM fan, I think you'll find some of it weird, but you just have to roll with it.

I think the name "Phyre" is a form of mental conditioning akin to "Would you kindly" in BioShock. Every time The Nomad calls herself Phyre, she is reinforcing the conditioning.
