I like it a lot and I think it's a good experiment for the series. It completely drops turn based combat in favour of real time with cooldowns, and that makes things like the 1v1v1v1 online multiplayer free for alls completely different to what the series has done before. In terms of selling the idea of you existing in a world with your Pokemon naturally inhabiting it, it's awesome. Bird Pokemon sit on the lampposts and you can throw balls at them to catch them there, you'll see a thousand Magikarp as you run past the canals, one eventually will be shiny so it's neat to check them every time you go by. Stuff like that. It's novel.

It absolutely suffers from being a cross-gen game though as the city geometry is very flat, which doesn't help what is an already samey looking city, which is a shame considering the above. It's actually quite densely designed, but just not nice to look at and very not dense in detail, sadly.

If you like Pokemon generally and want to try something where they experiment more, it's cool.

As someone who usually gets 100s of hours out of these games, I'm mostly happy with it. Looking forward to the DLC. Currently at 70 hours played in the base game.

Everything you would do to breed in this game is doable with other methods now. Natures can be changed with mints and IVs can be maxed with bottle caps, as has been the case in the previous games. There aren't even fringe cases where you might want 0 IV like the other recent games (Trick Room, minimal confusion damage for non physical attackers) either because Trick Room doesn't exist and low speed is purely a negative thing, and confusion doesn't do self-damage anymore.

As someone who loves Z-A a lot, I do think the samey looking city is its biggest flaw. I think for an open world game you need some level of variance. Not everything has to be GTA San Andreas level of varied, but at the very least there should be some variety in architecture across districts to make them distinct. Vice City has a tiny map but it feels both big and fresh because it makes its districts visually distinct.

Lumiose absolutely suffers from the fact it's essentially a lot of the same building and a few parks, and that visual issue is only worsened by the fact most of the parks are surrounded by glowing green hologram fences too.

I think literally even just making the buildings in each district have slightly different coloured walls would have made it meaningfully better. As it is now EVERYWHERE looks the same.

I like dressing up little girls because they're hot. I was particularly fond of my tanned pink haired trainer in Violet, she looked like she slept with adult men.

I can look at these games critically and still enjoy them and I don't see an issue with that.

We have no idea what you dislike about it so how the fuck are we meant to answer that.

I liked Arceus and I liked Z-A. They're not the same game and both are fun experiments for the series, and I especially like Z-As experiments with the battle system and the setting is unique for the series (wouldn't want it to be a regular thing but I do like the idea as a one off for a single larger and denser city instead of a region with multiple small towns) and curveballs are always nice in that regard. Arceus fit more interestingly into the lore stuff it did but Legends Z-A does eventually pay off on lore stuff, even if it takes longer to than Arceus.

Floette. It was kind of a perfect time too.

Had five slots of my team taken, and figured I'd add the sixth soon. Decided instead of walking around Wild Zone 7, I'd walk through it and see if I find anything nice. Heard the sound and immediately caught her and knew she had to be on my team. Even feels like she fit the theme of the team since I named them all after things relating to the character my protag is based on and there was a nice name that fit her

My story team was

>Meganium ("Diddle") with Meganiumite
>Garbodor ("Goblin Fron") with Quick Claw
>Meowstic-F ("Scripps") with Wise Glasses
>Absol ("Wandersnatch") with Absolite
>Altaria ("Robin") with Altarianite
>Floette [shiny] ("Yumina") with Leftovers

I wasn't using Plus moves for a while and was wondering why they made Megas so much better for a lot of stuff, especially the boss fights, but then started using them and was like "oh right Plus moves are just so everything can do it".
