I'm assuming it's like every other animal rescue, in that it's a glorified zoo that exists to house animals that wouldn't be able to live in the wild due to injuries, disease, or being abandoned when young. Some operate on picking up pets that the owners give up for whatever reason, and effectively operate the same way.
