also nothing stopping you from taking the bike for a quick checkup at a mechanic or bringing along a friend that knows more than you. as the other anon said a little fall that only gave some scratches,tires that are a bit older or an old battery is not a big deal (but you should def use them to negotiate the price down) if it's something like forks leaking or the bike giving some weird sounds when cold-starting or even after a couple of minutes it might be wise to look for something else, it's not like you don't have options available since you are just looking at your first bike

yeah i can get a literbike technically but it's gonna be heavier and more expensive and i don't really care that much about specs or to go fast but i'm also very new and maybe if i go to the stealership and get that brand new 650 that i think looks cool i may grow tired of it or find out that maybe i really wanted a GS or a grom and now i spent 10k on a brand new bike that i may not like.
Middlesize seems like what i like now, and getting an older cheaper one that is not shit seems like the right way to test it: it's actually ass and i want to change it? well i may be able to sell it for what i paid for easily or worst case i lost a couple hundred bucks by selling it cheaper.
