Yeah in years of riding I've not had that happen to me
I've seen 1 video of it happening to people with off-brand comms (some comm set that has a cam built into it, cant remember the name but it was literally their review video of it)
It's not really like CB radios, but maybe if youre in a turbo active area?

Anyone have the 2024 Tracer 9 GT+?
How is it?
Thinking of switching from MT-07.
First was looking at the MT-09 but I have to carry stuff and hate having a backpack, plus seat looks better.
No 2025 version because its only with gay AMT+ automatic transmission or whatever the f that is.

the map is obsolete. it festers as a scar on this general, a monument to division. to get on it, you have to email some non-op scribe, not the true dbt savior. this divides us into โ€œmappedโ€ and โ€œunmapped,โ€ shattering the core rule of dbt: absolute acceptance.

>unstable
Ive taken my 2022 Tracer up to about 120mph a few dozen times. They top out at around 140mph if you push it. The front end is light but that but never bothered me. Suspension preload setup is important. I've noticed when I have the electronic suspension in comfort I get more head shake when I'm doing "fun stuff". In sport mode the bike feels more stable. Luggage also plays a big part in stability. Its best to not speed when weighed down with the luggage on the bike. Though I have done it. One other thing, semi truck wake turbulence pushes you around, but that's more of a light and tall bike problem than a Tracer problem. Cutting through calm air the Tracer feels rock solid.

all of those aspects would be upgrades unless there are known issues with parts availability/bikes are known to have serious problems that require delaership trips (what i'm mostly concerned with new bikes that have lots of electronics vs current that doesn't even have liquid cooling)

Only bad thing i could find online is the tank is small so range is not the best but still ok for commuting or weekend rides (what i do with mine currently anyway)

Honda made the Accord here in the US in the early 80s. By the mid 90s, they were making a tiny ass but fun compact that killed you when you had to buy parts.

Maybe CFMoto is going to be that company for China, but even of they are, we're still in the early 80s phase, and they opened their first NA plant in Mexico in 2023. I'd gamble on their stock before I'd gamble on their vehicles.

Noob questions incoming:

Iโ€™m too poor to justify getting a nice weekend car, so Iโ€™ve been considering a bike. (Already have my motorcycle license)

Is a 5-7k bike good for chilling/relaxing enjoyment? Or are all bikes sort of anxiety inducing since youโ€™re always in imminent danger.

Also is a bmw g310gs brand new a good starter bike? Iโ€™m kind of a wrenchlet but have a big garage.

If you are tall enough to flatfoot the 310gs, it's a great bike. It's basically a cockroach. I own a g310rr. Consider the cb300r, rebel300 and cb500 as well. G310 comes with abs so you are good. If you start on 300, you don't have to fear for life. Just budget for helmets, gloves, boots, jacket etc. Full gear.

$5-7k gets you a lot of bike. The g310 is nice, but I'd go for something cheaper and used for a very first learner bike, 90% chance you're gonna drop it at some point, and a brand new BMW is gonna be comparatively expensive.

All bikes need you to be switched on, but you don't need to be anxious, if you don't ride aggressively all the time, and you have a bike with a more relaxed riding position things can be very chill and relaxing.

By cockroach I assume you mean itโ€™s unkillable? Thatโ€™s great so does that mean repair costs wonโ€™t be astronomical when it does need repairs?
I think the bmw is my favorite if all the entry level bikes, so as long as itโ€™s a good bike, Iโ€™d like the bmw.

>>28498692
Honestly, I expect to keep my first bike for as long as possible. Just a chill bike. Donโ€™t really plan on upgrading until my first bike dies. For that reason Iโ€™m afraid of the issues of a used bike. Like is it worth it to gamble 3/4k, when I can guarantee some longevity with 5/6k?

As for driving, I am no speed demon. Just want to chill. Ride on the bike and feel cool and free. So it sounds like Iโ€™ll have a great time if I relax and stay alert. Thanks

Maybe the regular soft tops? I tried a friend's ND2 RF and it was undriveable for me with the top up and I'm only 5'10". My ear was on my shoulder to fit under the roof and there was no room to recline the seat, I would've had to crank the seat way forward and mash my knees into the dash to even have a chance. That was with the seat as low as it went too.

It's heavy just being empty, It's large without having much space, doesn't have space for a water bottle, the way to slide a laptop in and out is bound to get old quick (roll top bag), and the only waterproof compartment is the laptop compartment.
I do like how it looks, and hopefully the strap system reduces fatigue, but I'll have to take on a long trip to properly find out.
So far nothing about this justifies the $300 price tag.

I think they're mostly for guys who've spent their whole lives as part of a group or club of Harley riders and want to keep fitting in even after they're not able to ride a normal one anymore. What's funny to me is that I bet a lot of those guys could manage fine on a smaller bike but instead they go for these trikes because they HAVE to ride a big fat Harley to fit in.

I guess the lesson here is not all thing benefit from the whole "motospecific" branding.
Sometimes it just takes actually purchasing one to find out.
I think I'm keeping it for a week, then returning it if it proves to be properly not worth it.
The loss of the waterbottle bag is probably the thing that guides me to return this.

Getting a helmet you want is a good idea even if you already have a helmet.
I have a lot of other motorcycling gear, but whether I wear it depends on the weather/mood/distance/purpose.
Focusing on something you're not sure you'd even use might be wasteful.

Hmm, NTA but the manual gear shifting is obsolete tech at this point. An increasing number of high performance, enthusiast sports cars don't even bother with it anymore. Bikes will go the same way. You can't stop progress. Yeah, progress is usually gay and makes things less interesting. But you can't stop it.

I'm saying that as someone that drives a manual shitbox, actually my last two cars have both been manual. I ride a bike. I like shifting gears. But I'm looking at replacing my car since it's beat to shit, and even a basic ass manual hatchback is not even being made anymore in the US.

These boots (Crossair X) will constitute approximately a week's pay for me.
I have never spent this much on an article of clothing, ever.
I use my bike for commuting 90% of the time, and a couple miles of trail riding once a month.
I wanted something nice because legs and feet are the most common injuries.
Am I going to regret this?

yeah i really like the styling, unless you go for the two top tier colors that are atrocious it's really good looking basic bike

>pig heavy, underpowered
everything will be heavier and more powerfull than current bike so it's not a big deal, but i guess a big more weight means also a bit more stable on the occasional highway trip and it apparently uses really little fuel so it has good range for a little tank.

Just check the weld joints and inspect the bolts before delivery. They are pretty reliable, but you have to do the maintenance earlier. They would be more popular in the states, but over here they ask for $9k otd on a continental GT650.

Pretty much any thumper will
But that comes down entirely to what kind of upgrades you want to put on it.

Vibration at 70MPH? Much of that are because of dual sport wheels, the other part of that is because it's a tiny motor. You can do some additional Supermoto upgrades to it to dampen it.

desu I like the vibration, it feels like a massage chair.

How quiet? Lots of engines have a slight tick to a point with all the lifters, cams, and timing chain. But if its unusually loud its a problem. Only a Yamaha mechanic will be able to tell you one way or another.

probably normal, check the cam chain tensioner and valve clearance.
Does it make the sound in neutral?
Did you change the oil yet? Old oil makes more noise.
Lifter tick is a common thing among all bikes and cars.
All bikes will start to develop sounds as they wear in, and MT07 is known for the engine tick just like Kawasaki has tappet noise.
Just do the oil changes a little earlier than needed and you'll be fine, also use premium.

nyo
I haven't done any maintenance since I rode it back from the dealership
installed the crash guard and side saddle but the ticking was present before that
it was a 4 hours ride home and when I checked the second day the engine oil was overfilled by ~300ml which I had to siphon out using a spray bottle
idk if that had any affect besides it possibly spitting some oil into the air filter
the xsr700 were shipped with engine oil so yamaha might have fucked up
