I remember a US marine sharing a story from his tour in Fallujah. They were pinned, returning fire, and there was a loaded RPG laying next to a corpse of a militia fighter in the middle of the street. He sees an unarmed kid of maybe 12 in a doorway. Kid is hesitating because the street is a warzone, but it seems he's getting instructions and finally kid darts out and start running towards the RPG. Marine waits as long as he can, but when the kid picks up the RPG he drops the kid.
Marine wrote about his PTSD and nightmares from the incident. On the one hand I believe him and don't want to be THAT "armchair faggot" who calls people who were actually in combat "faggots", you know?
But on the other hand I wonder how much of a problem I would have. Shooting a human being... it's not a "sacred act". How different is it from double-clicking in a video game? They both fall down. Maybe real human gurgles and cries more.
Then again I stopped watching combat footage videos (other than armor blowing up) two years ago because I don't like that "чepнyхa" so maybe I would also be fucked up from taking a life.
In either case I pray I never find out.
Cute tum-tum for anyone who bothered to read my blogpost.
