some proper server-side hit authorization would be cool though. i think they tried some variation of it with their hit validation shit but it was causing killers to tweak about the amount of hits that were being refunded so they tuned it to nigh uselessness. and it only applies to pallet STUNS and dead hard specifically

this one's not really that bad, not an issue with the pallet detection but lag. going frame-by-frame you only get like one frame of you dropping the pallet. even on a really solid connection between both players and the server, in almost any game you should expect that to result in a hit for the attacker. ping is some real shit so some decisions and compromises have to be made to resolve these kinds of conflicts. on his screen you most certainly hadn't even made it close to the prompt when he connected the hit
if this game wasn't initially P2P and made by frogs, ideally you'd get the pallet refunded there since you were being hit at the time your client told the server you threw the pallet. but that hit itself is not BHVR's fault
