Considering all endings are somehow canon, my personal interpretation is that after dream no more and some of the godhome endings there’s an implication the knight is just chilling in the endless void with all their siblings.

Reminder that in the godhome endings you become one with the void and chill in there with your bros. Look at how happy they are

In the god home endings (YOU) become the shade lord. In the other endings you’re just chilling with your siblings inside of the void after becoming the shade lord for a short amount of time.
