Narrative and gameplay are intrinsically linked in an RPG. If you just wanted narrative and no gameplay, you'd read a visual novel or watch a movie. If you just wanted gameplay and no narrative, you'd play something like an ARPG. If you respect the narrative enough to keep some semblance of gameplay, then obviously you want to avoid obvious cheese or exploits. A hard-fought battle with a dragon is a narrative AND gameplay highlight. There is no narrative AND no gameplay in pressing a button to win. Obviously, this is the logical extreme and balance is subjective, but the meme comes from holding each other accountable, and most importantly, yourself.

I, Mintharafag, enjoy the exercise of putting my thoughts into words. That's why it doesn't bother me if no one gives me a pity (You) like you did. There is no expectation of an exchange or even a reply. I do it for free and for the love of the game.

The first two games used an engine that was originally meant for an RTS, by the way.

In other words, it was a soulless corporate move rather than an intended design paradigm. That the games ended up enjoyable to play despite that is something of a miracle in itself. BG3 corrects the course by being turn-based and ends up a better RPG than all these BG2 clones - a fact that frustrates you to no end if you have to resort to such low-quality trolling even after two years. Go back to being a faggot in /crpgg/.
