That's one thing I'm extremely stoked about. I'm a city boy, but I have spent plenty of time in the woods around here and I know how to read a map. Do they publish detailed course information in advance? That article says it's in a Nation Forest which have very generous regulations as to hiking and camping. Basically, you are just supposed to let the authorities know when and where you intend to enter and when and where you intend to exit. I guess to make it easier to find your corpse if you fuck up. Conversely in National Parks, you aren't even allowed to go off trail. If I know where the courses are, I can easily plan a back woods camping trip around this event.

There is no such thing on foot, especially for a race. Beer, steak and baked potatoes in foil the first night with bacon and eggs (cracked into a soda bottle) for the first breakfast. Whiskey, ramen noodles, protein bars and trail mix for the rest of the trip. Lucky, we have a lot of natural water sources around here, even if it has to be boiled. Otherwise, most of that shit has to go to make room for water. High altitude and desert camping is fun, but not exactly easy or comfy.

They might not be as exciting as sprint cars (I personally think nothing except rally can touch winged sprint car racing) but still they're a lot of fun to watch. They're more forgiving than sprints therefore they tend to race side-by-side and lean on each other without going airborne.
