I don’t rate most centers. Being tall is not a skill. Most of them suck at basketball. My nephews have one of those kids hoops and I look pretty impressive on that too, especially playing against my nephews who are shorter than me. I mean Jesus, with the smaller ball relative to their hands, and the hoop being lower relative to them, shooting is massively easier(don’t believe me? Get a women’s ball and lower a hoop about a foot), it’s like playing on easy mode and most of them still can’t shoot. Of course I’d still take a center on my team, the nature of the game requires it. The CP3 trade veto was a huge inflection point. Then the Lakers paid Luol Deng & Mozgov stupid money and extended Kobe to a contract that was impossible to live up to since he was basically done after the Achilles.

It would’ve helped to have retained Ariza instead of signing Artest. Artest just didn’t age well with the Lakers in my opinion, and a younger, more athletic 3 & D guy like Ariza would’ve helped the Lakers stay relevant a little longer because they went out sad in 2011, 2012.
