Visma went with an optimistic pace to the first climb. I saw that Matteo Jorgensen was in trouble, I saw that he wasn't having a great day, then I switched in my head, one less, I had to focus only on Jonas," PogaΔar told RTV Slovenia at the Hautacam summit after the sweet victory.

Let's be honest, Visma and Jorgenson in particular caused all this with their annoying tactics during week 1.
Without that, Pogi would have probably attacked halfway up the climb, maybe taken a minute or a little less, and kept things alive.
Visma is at fault here.

Pog using Y1 on this stage, I don't even know anymore. Dude has looked so much worse on it than V4/V5 and I think just talking from Cipressa onwards he could've dropped MVP with it. Now clearly, Y1 has to save a shitload of watts on the flat to ever use it for a stage like this, but still, seems really strange. He'll be using V5 for maybe 2-3 stages I guess.

You mean longer one to the climb? Then I agree, I actually felt that Narvaez doing such an apocalyptic leadout (even dropping fish) and then Pog going cost him for the 2nd half, I think Lipo was almost as fast in the last 5-6k. In contrast at PdB, perfect leadout from Visma and then he absolutely pulverized everyone the last 5k.

We know the riders are doping, but they do not do it so brazenly as we see with him. Staying in their lane by not winning classics, tours and being in prime fitness end of year too is decency. Fans don't want to see the same rider win everything the same way. Other teams need to win races too to keep big sponsors in the sport.
This will destroy the sport if it continues like this.

I notice a lot of their fans are soys and pundits who want to see le records being broken xDD. Then I see retards ITT who say he's "exciting" because he attacks. Sure I guess he does, into a 12km solo and wins by 3 minutes. Predictable, opposite of exciting. A lot of meds love him because it's a med team. Even riders and teams in the peloton are cucking to UAE and sucking up to them. All so tiresome.

it's rather easy to understand why pogi is completely clean. today's stage was very hot, 38 degrees in the valley. pogi of 2022 would have been burnt to a crisp and totally collapsed, but he's fine in the heat today. it's clear he was totally untrained for heat adaptation under bald fraud and he has been doing heat training well under sola. this alone accounts for 5-7% of raw performance and even more in the heat.
this is about half of his raw improvement from 2021-22 level. the rest can be accounted for by peloton-wide improvements to fueling and more intensity training.
EPO doping mainly increase hematocrit level and not PV which is the main benefit from heat adaptation. we can identify the heat resistance improvement to heat training alone.

I don't care if they dope, it matters if I personally think they ride ok. Tadej, little nonchalant Balkan kid just riding along, ok. Fish boy, little autistic weirdo with mommy issues that wheelsucks, not ok. Pantani, little troubled mentalist that went full gas, based. Armstrong, psychopathic castrated mentalist who had his serfs drag him up the mountains, bad.

Doping is about decency. It's meant to be an arms race. Showing up to everything, winning everything in the same fashion whilst playing the cutesy quirk chungus is not correct doping.
Lower the doses poogacar. At least make it believable, or close. Sure win by 5 minutes, but actually put on a show. Zero decency. It's shit like this that got people caught. His performances have now become very unbelievable. That's the issue here, not doping itself but how you do it.

F1 drivers, cyclists, football players, tenissers, fucking cricket faggots. Everyone dopes. At the top level they're all assholes that will do anything to win, else you wouldn't be at the top in the first place. It's logical that they'll always try to get an edge in some way, inlcuding pharmaceutical.
I doubt they still dope epo till their blood stops flowing like the 90s though. But yeah, you still need to put in the work, the dedication, the ambition, the talent, the lifestyle.. no amount of dope will get you anywhere if you're not truly living for it. So in the end, the best wins either way.

Female cyclist while looked like barbie on a bike swung out of a junction into my path when I was going 50kph, the gives me the little waves whilst half in the way. I thought I'd get rosenbert'd for a moment by barbie.
The addictive feeling of red lining the body, gasping for air, pushing to almost collapse on the final climb. Cozy zone.

I might start doping as an experiment to get back to shape. Clenbuterol to strip my muscle and fat, epo micro dose to support training and testosterone 3 month cycle to drastically improve strength which I lack currently.
All easily accessible. Would be interesting to see how potent it is for performance. EPO particularly I'm interested about, the other two are fairly predictable result wise.

If vingegaard can corner the way he did in that combloux the time trial the tour isn't over yet
All the training, dedication, living like a monk, leaving his sweet wife. While seeing his rival have fun in the classics, he's on a mountain just training. Everything for 3 weeks in a year, to have a chance to be the best in one thing.
After some time loss, the team is on edge already, putting all their hope in you. Finally it's your terrain, you fire yourself up, you know which part you're gonna try to attack him.
Youre 500 meters into the ascend, your whole team dropped and that Slovene pushes his pedals a few times and you die.
What did Jonas mean by this?

Training for the Tour since October btw
All of that to be worse than last year. Reminds me of Lance vs Ullrich times
So in summary, vingegaard has:
- gotten worse at climbing, losing 2 minutes on the hautacam and slower than his previous effort
- gotten worse at ITT, losing over a minute to pogacar
+ gotten better at punchy sprints, still clearly losing to pogacar but managing to stay in his wheel
What is blud doing :skull emoji:

thinking about putting the wrong screws on his kitchen drawer handles and how eventually they'll not only come loose, but ruin the drill hole in doing so, meaning you need different screws altogether, but then they won't fit in the handles anymore, because they're in this shitty unusable size (Trine wanted those), and now you have to get new handles altogether, but then they probably won't match with the drawers anymore because these were some very idiosyncratic drawers and handles, so maybe just fucking redo the whole thing altogether... Better ask Trine...

Obviously they're talented. Poogacar would win tours without such obscene measures. They've taken it too far at this point and it's landis tier brazen doping. It's taking the piss to use Pidcock's words. Absolutely taking the piss.

Its the same with weightlifting where they have to change the bodyweight categories to scrub the world records so people dont realise the lifts theyre seeing now are 20% less than those seen 10 years ago when everyone was juiced to fuck. Pogi is risking an actual crackdown on the sport and the fallout could be massive. You dont need to make it this blatant to win safely.

Hereβs what I have to accept:
-Jonas will not be able to challenge Pogacar anymore.
-Wout is never coming back
-Primoz is never coming back
-Alaphilipe is never coming back
-Bernal is never coming back.
-The ad-free world feed on Peacock is never coming back.
The way in which this sport has become a metaphor for the decline of our own broken bodies is too painful to bear at times. I can never be a fan of Pogacar because he has come to symbolize the loss of many good things I once had. He has come to symbolize the fact that no matter how hard we try, we will never win at life. Death will find us and defeat us in the end. His victories can only remind us of our own inevitable losses.
I think me and cycling need to take a break for a while. Iβm gonna need some time to be alone with my own thoughts.

>Hand-made Rice Krispies Treats are being churned out every morning by team soigneurs and traded around the carb-crazed peloton like theyβre edible Bitcoin.
>βEveryone has Rice Krispies snacks at the moment,β team Lotto staffer Bieke Cornelle told Velo. βTheyβre the most popular bar in the peloton!β
>In fact, these Rice Krispies bars are the one βreal foodβ remaining in a nutrition plan built on scientifically concocted super-fuels.
>βThe only real food we use are Rice Krispie Bars. They give a high glycemic index, low fiber option,β Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe nutritionist Will Girling said.
>βThey also give a texture and flavor difference that provides variety over the three weeks of a Tour. Theyβre the new rice cake!β
>Like Girling says, the rice cakes that fed the Chris Froome era are out.
>These mushy piles of sushi rice and fats have been upgraded for a leaner, meaner alternative for the high-carb era.
>Ingredients: 50g butter/coconut oil, 300g marshmallows, 200g Rice Krispies
>Rough Nutritional Info Per Square: (15 squares) Calories ~ 150kcal, Carbohydrates ~ 30g, Protein ~ 2g, Fat ~ 3g
>Still, teammate Ilan Van Wilder had a rather remarkable explanation for Evenepoel 's early drop . "A lot of riders blew themselves up trying to match Visma-Lease a Bike's pace. And Visma itself too. Because the way they race, you simply can't keep it up all the way to Paris. Sorry to break it to you, but those guys smelled blood because Tadej had crashed and pulled out all the stops. And they got caught in the cold," he told Het Nieuwsblad.

I don't think Jonas' worsened climbing is due to different training, I just don't think he's back at his 21-23 level yet in general, and I don't believe he ever will be. What other tactic COULD Visma employ to beat Pogi, except for attempting to wear down the peloton. You have to realise, that they're not necessarily trying to wear down Pogi, but his team mates as well. Isolating him is honestly the best tactic imo, and Visma has a better team overall now that Almeida is out. Of course, it doesn't matter if Pogi can just win with solo attacks every stage, but if that's the case, Jonas could've never won regardless of training and tactics

>Cursed Coquard Fractures Finger in Freak Feed Bag Incident
>narrowly survives time cut after bizarre injury in latest twist to his rough and tumble Tour de France.
>Frenchman broke his finger snatching a feedbag bloated with water bottles on Thursdayβs stage up to Hautacam.
>Coquard was then forced to drop out of the early breakaway for an awful-looking damage assessment from race medics before he spent hours being chased by the βbroom wagon.β
>βI took the bag and I was immediately in a lot of pain,β Coquard told reporters waiting for him at the top of the HC summit. βWhen I looked at my hand, I saw that my finger was twisted.
>βWhen I stopped with the doctors, I didnβt know what was happening. I made the decision to set off again, but it was a long ordeal,β Coquard said Thursday.
>βI had to do 90 kilometers on my own.β
>He was just five minutes in front of the time cut.
>βThe hardest part was on the descents,β Coquard said. βI couldnβt brake with my right hand, so I had to use only the rear brake.β
>Team Cofidis said Thursday night it was working on a quick fix for Coquardβs fractured finger.
>βBryan will be fitted with a splint, and an orthopedist will travel to find a solution to adapt his position on the bike during the time trial,β Cofidis wrote Thursday in a media statement.
>One small consolation for Coquard in his cursed Tour de France?
>His endeavors were recognized by Emmanuel Macron at the finish line Thursday. The French president had parachuted to the PyrΓ©nΓ©es for a VIP appearance at Le Tour.
>βAt least youβre smiling. Bravo, youβre courageous,β Macron said to Coquard. βIβm crossing my fingers for you β no bad play on words intended!β

How would Jonas beat Pogi with fresh legs AND with the entire UAE team fresh as well? I don't see it, you have to eliminate the assistants and force him to do work. If there is a crack in the tactic, it is that Jonas has been comitting to sprints/pulling in the peloton. They should be comfortable giving up a lead to Pogi, if the tactic is to wear him down. Also his TT was abysmal, which is really what has made the tactic an issue. If he'd TT'd decently, I think Jonas had a shot of winning still. As of now, 2nd is not even secured despite the comparatively weak competition. That's the issue. If Visma ride to win, they risk losing the podium entirely. Obviously Visma could ride easy and take second without a sweat, but why would they want that.
>>149835490
I'll admit to that, but no one knew how good Wellens would be before the tour had startes, at which point the tactic had already been decided upon.

If Jumbo are getting Vauquelin that is a big positive for them, though Id wish the top riders didnt go to one of two teams. Onley will be moving youd think too but where, I wonder. I cant see Ineos because a lot of british riders have a grudge against british cycling establishment, though ineos is less involved with british cycling now.
Onley to UAE would be a curse on his career. Onley needs to either stay where he is or some team like Bora of Bahrain.

If both teams had entered the mountains fresh it would be Kuss, Yates, Jorgenson vs Yates because Sivakov was ill and Almeida crashed out. All other domestiques should be dropped easily if they are fresh and set a high pace

A lot of brits were shunned in recent years from British cycling development routes, Ben Healy the biggest example who changes nationality because of it. British cycling is an extremely cliquey organisation who favour certain personalities types over pure talent so it leaves riders scorned because they never got a chance despite being stronger than their peers.
British cycling development was very linked to track and their road riders would often be heavily influenced by their track team. It worked for the golden generation of Wiggins, Thomas, Rowe etc. They have olympic programs for youths too, so when I was racing as a youth I remember lads would show up in fancy kit but they weren't really that fast on the road. But they were the ones getting road opportunities at that age.
I don't know how it is now, I see a lot more brits going straight onto the continent into a dev team which IMO is actually brilliant, but I still think having a 'national' world tour team to nurture your nations talent in an environment they're more used to ie british staff and pros who can nurture them, then that'd produce better riders.
I don't know Onley's situation, I know he was supported by the Rayner fund which supports british riders racing on the continent as a charity. I don't think there's as much 'grudge' from riders this generation because generally people seem to WANT to go straight to europe and don't care for british cycling. But some still do, like Healy. I think it's more of a disconnect than grudge I guess. I'd want to race for a british team if I was a WT rider but that's just me.

I remember lads (me included) would actively travel to races where the likes of Askey was racing just to race him lmao. 3hr drive each way, good times. But the races where the olympic riders showed up no one gave a fuck, I can't even name one that I remember who made it big, though I don't follow track. A lot of the strong riders from my age generation went to europe bar maybe Vernon obviously who's a better trackie. Knight, Askey, Healy, Fred Wright I think too. Not sure if Ben Turner did track but I know he was involved a lot in the national team because he was blisteringly quick. Pidcock just won everything. Same with Askey, NC's would be collected by each of them because they were never in the same age group.
Regret not racing in belgium with my friend, he raced Remco a few times in some nationals. Good times.

That would be really great to see. It's uncertain Jim will keep ineos as a sponsor for years to come so maybe Britian will have no WT team or sponsors. I think Ineos getting a clear out is good. Thomas retiring is brilliant, a whole new eco-system seems to be needed. New exciting riders. Carlito is a major disappointment, Arensman seems to be a liablity too. Bernal is just a C tier rider in this current peloton.
This roster is shite, 6 british riders, one retiring and one should retire. No national identity from any nation. Mix match all various nations I think is catastrophe for teams. They'll have more french which will be interesting. Need to really angle for the French + Anglo alliance here.

They were the concept, UAE are the real deal. Buying colnago is genuinely hilarious. It's like redbull f1 team HQ was next to UK Trek HQ. Trek refused to move when redbull wanted to expand. SO redbull bought the holding company that ran the building Trek HQ was leasing and just kicked them out lmfao.
Not long until the peloton begins colluding against UAE I think because their next generation is disgustingly over powered.

You'd think porn as a hobby is more appreciated by women considering a) they make enormous amount of porn and 5% of women in britain make porn and then b) they also watch a lot of porn themselves. Could be a fun cheap hobby to enjoy with your partner.
I think the term 'hobby' has cringe connotations though and most hobbies are cringe and boring anyway. And I don't doubt women think men shouldn't have hobbies, should be heckin' providing for them or someshit.
My point is society is cringe in general

Kek this, we went to one in secondary school. Most cringe fag shit ever. Organised discussion about pre determined topics and point scoring. WTF. I love cyc because I'm always right and I can call people retards for disagreeing with me.
I can't remember which greek egghead it was but they were known to get up whilst debating and just start flexing their muscles instead of making counterpoints. Literally me. I would have been a great greek philosopher.

I see the GC leaders often go back to the team car for the feedbag. they also help to increase the pay for the domestiques by winning and giving them increased exposure. there is an element of symbiosis in the relationship since the other riders are mostly npcs otherwise.
