So aside from this cunt was saying he basically just shows up and rides Nagasuka's bike for this so between the difference in weight and not braking as hard Miller is bottoming out the fork every braking zone. Initial braking is worse than MotoGP which you would expect with the extra weight and lack of aero. Described it as a Bridgestone characteristic that they have fuck all edge grip and have to be stood up fast but then drive strong so Stoner was god on them, and was saying they just roll the bike out with old tires from the last test, slap warmers on them and they grip.

>>150052405Indycar gets a partner whose primary talent is promotion and media distribution, which are the two things Indycar has lacked since the split. Even prior to the split, Indycar did not have this level of exposure. Fox actually buying a stake in the series ties them to the success of Indycar considerably more than media rights agreement they had.
Long term, it means Fox will continue to promote the series at a high level, which will invariably lead to more viewership and attendance, and with that money. With money, comes manufacturers and higher budgets. It very well could lead back to the good old days of diversified fields with less spec'd cars, eventually.
Its one of the more signifcant developments since the split.

>>150053814It's cool to watch videos of it, but I don't think it could hold my interest for a full event...

>>150053814I view it in a similar way as I do freestyle motocross. yeah it's a sport involving motorized vehicles so technically a motorsport, but I have little interest in it because it's not motor racing.
>>150053807>good old days of diversified fields with less spec'd cars, eventually.no offense to Reynard and Lola (damn those were sexy cars) but I think having more engine manufacturers is a much higher priority than having multiple chassis manufacturers. or bringing back a tire war for that matter.
>>150053977It would be nice if the teams could do some development on more than just dampers. Maybe a little bit of aero development on the wings. Right now, all they can do is add/remove optional flaps.
>>150053850You'll have to bring me up to speed on them, because I can't say that I've heard of it. Though I will say that Fox isn't merely a broadcaster, they're a full fledged multi-media company that is the only non-legacy broadcaster that reached nationwide status in the largest market. They have station transmitter affiliates in portion of the country (apparently except for where the boomers in the Racer comment section live), and you don't get to that level of success by fucking things up.
Fox was avle to largely build UFC into the juggernaut that it is now, and they aren't keen to repeat losing it.
>>150053977>>150053989If Fox is able to successfully promote it, and I have no doubt that can and will, the the sky is limit.
>multiple chassisYeah absolutely
>multiple manufacturersWhy not, the fans will be there
>tire warSure.
At some point the legacy partners that have kept the series afloat so far, will no longer be able to do so as sole suppliers.
>>150053836qualifying runs and early dues tend to be not too entertaining. also, depends a lot on the track, fast ones like Riga and Mondello are very entertaining and on the contrary slower and more technical tracks aren't too interesting (at least for me)

>>150055384>>150055611Late models also have their amount of shittery, but the "old school", "roots" racing factor adds something that makes me prefer them to the ARCA Series. Either way, I still watch it sometimes because I like cars turning left.
>>150055817Or wait are they ALL sprint races? It's very confusing. There's 1 distance race tonight and 2 timed races tomorrow... What is the Japanese definition of "Sprint"?!
Translated from their website:
>It will be the first sprint race in the SUPER GT series, which is primarily an endurance race. As the name "SPRINT RACE" suggests, this year's race will feature two short-distance races for SUPER GT on each day (Race 1 on Saturday and Race 2 on Sunday). Each race will feature one driver from each team completing official practice, qualifying, and the final race. While Saturday's race will feature the usual 35-lap, approximately 160km final race between the GT500 and GT300 classes, Sunday will see two separate races (50-minute timed races, approximately 115km) for each class, a first for the series.

>>150055876Yeah, tonight's the goodness with both classes. Hopefully it goes well and they add more sprint races. I think they should keep the driver change, even if they don't change tiers, which they should also do.

Also, GM made the the single most versatile engine in history. I cringe every time I see an LS swapped RX-7 or 240Z, but still.
