A lot of brands will do glasses that are more casual. I use these. They're fine. I wouldn't wear my normal sunglasses on the bike (given sweat and small stones that get kicked up)

i just got a pair of reflective prescription sunglasses, i think they are raybans. you really don't need "cycling glasses".

i also wear my sunglasses on the inside of my helmet straps. i dont understand why the meta is to wear the glasses on the outside of the straps, that doesnt really make sense to me

very nice. NC title does wonders to club rider
Anonymous Russian Federation No.150210241
>"I followed all the races and attended the Tour de France Femmes, among others. I also spoke to the women one-on-one, either remotely or together on the bike," said the national coach in the KNWU's announcement.
>"I started with a blank canvas, and over time, the pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place. But of course, it was difficult. The level of the Dutch riders is high; we could have started with several teams.
>"This means you also have to disappoint riders. This 180-kilometre course with 3,000 meters of elevation gain has to suit you. You think about it a lot, and that's how you make the choices."
>"We're going for gold. However, winning is never a given; just look at the different nationalities that have won in the classics and the Tour," said Ten Dam.
>"Our goal is clear: we're going for victory in orange. The race situation will determine who ultimately comes out on top. I expect the women to be ready to go at the start line, fighting for each other in orange."
>The Dutch women's team faced criticism for their tactics in recent seasons, with their multiple leaders sometimes ending up as a hindrance. Ten Dam knew full well this would need to change during his tenure, and he highlighted in the team release that each rider will know their role heading into Worlds.
>"I've carefully considered all the possible tactics and the corresponding team roles. We've discussed this with the riders, and they've said 'yes' to their specific roles," Ten Dam said.
>"Up until now, our team time has been limited, of course, but soon in Kigali [and later during the European Championships in France], we'll spend a considerable amount of time together, especially with the women who will also be riding the time trial. There'll be plenty of time to train together, chat, and of course, laugh!"

>Tandems (double machines) are excellent, as long as the parties do not feel the lack of personal independence. Experience shows, however, that tandem owners, if they are not newly engaged, only feel truly happy when they have exchanged the double machine for two single ones. β€”The person who buys a tandem, like the person who buys a villa, has only two happy moments: the moment he buys it and the moment he sells it.

Seems the issue is:

that the UCI (one of their workers) is going to be attaching the devices to the bikes themselves and not a mechanic from the team - there is a worry it could be done poorly, in an unsafe way, or somehow interfere with the rest of the bike
the UCI is choosing a rider from each team to attach the tracker to - while there is fairness in terms of teams (one per team) it is not clear which rider is selected. Hence, your team leader might carry an additional weight while other team leaders do not, for example.
the teams want the UCI to be held responsible for any accident or other liability for the devices they attach - after all, if someone else puts it on the bike and it somehow falls off, catches in a wheel, causes a crash or whatever, it will not be the fault of the rider or the mechanic, but the UCI. The teams note that they have instructed their mechanics and riders not to touch any device that the UCI attaches to the bike.

Interestingly, the teams - facing disqualification if they don't carry the trackers - have said that they will not impede the trackers being attached but will photograph the person doing the attaching from the UCI and get their personal details so that they and the UCI can be held liable should something go wrong, or should the teams take legal action
Anonymous Finland No.150235805

Yeah sure. Some of the club riders here have massive ftps but they are so big and unaero it doesn't help much. Like one 52 year old doctor just did a flat out-and-back 20km time trial at 44km/h on a full time trial setup – I mean, that's great, but his average power was almost 420W. World tour guys would have speeds close to 50km/h with that power.

>The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), in collaboration with the Tour de Romandie FΓ©minin and participating teams, will conduct a test of a GPS safety tracking system during this year’s edition of the UCI Women’s WorldTour stage race (15-17 August).
>This initiative, part of the UCI’s and SafeR’s ongoing efforts to enhance rider safety in professional road cycling, will see one rider per team carry a GPS tracking device. The same technology will be deployed at the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali, Rwanda, where all riders will carry the device.
>The objective of this test is to refine the UCI’s safety tracking software and establish protocols to provide real-time data to race control, medical teams and UCI Commissaires. This system will strengthen the monitoring of rider safety during races and enable rapid response in case of incidents.
>This represents an important step forward in ensuring the safety of riders, and the UCI will continue to work closely with event organisers and all stakeholders on the broader implementation of such technology in the coming seasons.

It's only one rider per team, so does nothing for the whole peloton.
The devices they want to put on there haven't been adapted to team gear which all cyclists are extremely autistic about.
To me it reeks of the typical political "look at us doing stuff without actually doing stuff", which I think teams understand and don't want any part of.
Everyone involved seems to be overreacting, but I just happen to hate the UCI a lot more than the teams.

I'm not saying it wasn't. I'm just saying the UCI isn't without blame here either with all their useless "safety" measures they've implemented the last years that have no effect other than producing fines.
Like how much did it help with safety to ban tuck positions or celebrations before the finish line? It's like lots of little drop of bullshit that have built up over time and I guess came to a head now.
Anonymous Belgium No.150237270
>>150237206
Velon is backed by some of the worldtour teams (I don't know if there's a difference between the men and women WT), and they already have their own tracker they built, and it seems like the UCI is now wanting them to move to a different system that directly rivals their own system, so I think that might be why they refused to cooperate

Velon already sued the UCI a couple years ago with their hammer series, so they are not exactly on good terms presumably
Anonymous Denmark No.150237291 >>150237326
>>150237268
the ban on tuck positions was a W all around it was ugly, looked ugly and was unsafe
celebrations before the finish line is stupid yea but this tracker thing they are testing out seems like a genuine good idea and something that could benefit riders alot when it comes to safety when riding in mountains and such
someone falls off a mountain side into a forest and the UCI can help rescue teams with GPS tracking info, just seems like a no-brainer

>Details of the test were communicated on 7 August and in a detailed pre-race communiquΓ©. As a reminder, this test involves one rider per team carrying a GPS tracking device, weighing 63 grams, during the three stages (15-17 August) of the Swiss UCI Women’s WorldTour stage race. The same technology will be deployed at the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali, Rwanda, where all riders will carry the device.
Anonymous Norway No.150237326

Like I said, I don't think this is about this singular incident at all. It's about all the little rule changes the UCI unilaterally makes without discussing with riders/teams, which have had marginal effect other than producing more fines.
It's essentially a power struggle between the centralized organization who have their idea of how things should be, and the teams and riders who have to live with those ideas and find most of the quite silly in regards to what the objective was.
In political terms the UCI is like the government asking "how do we reduce the number of road accidents?" , and answer it by lowering the speed limit and increasing the road tax instead of measures that actually work.
