I applied to GT in state in 2015. I had a 4.0, a bunch of credits from dual enrollment (including Calculus 1 and 2), 2 varsity sports, a bunch of community service hours, a merit scholarship from a 3rd party, and I was a legacy applicant. They sent me a letter about "deferred enrollment" where they might accept me if I waited a year or started at another school or something. I was absolutely furious when I looked it up and saw over half of their acceptances were out of state and foreign students. Fuck Tech.

The court case is about whether or not Junior College years should count against eligibility. The players argue that JUCO isn't regulated by the NCAA so those seasons shouldn't count against NCAA eligibility. The NCAA says football is football so those years count.
This isn't a ruling on the merits of the case, it's just an injunction that allows the players to participate while the case is litigated. In similar cases, the injunction included a clause that the NCAA cannot later punish the team for having an ineligible player if in the end the NCAA wins the case.

Most years in the 2000s the two best teams were USC and the SEC champion, but that title game never happened because the computers loved giving us shitty title games where overrated Oklahoma and Ohio State teams jobbed to the SEC champion.
