Is there some sort of time limit between a player signing and playing a competitive game? Like, if a match was on Sunday and the player gets fully properly announced on Saturday, can he play in that game? What if he was announced earlier that Sunday? Does the club need to send in a roster or whatever to the FA or whoever way earlier? Can they pre-emptively add this player's name on the list even if they haven't announced him, cause I assume that's mainly for social media than anything else?

You have to be registered with the club by a certain time to play. At the professional level I'm sure it's at least 24 hours before a match is played.
Anonymous United Kingdom No.150330238 >>150330258
Spurs fans are so pathetic allowing themselves to get upset over this. The guy is 27 years old and stat pads his goals with penalties. £68m with the english tax is too much.

For Spurs to fire up the table, it needs to be driven by the upside of their young players. If one or more of Tel, Odobert, Bergval, Sarr, Gray can reach the next level, it has the capacity to improve them much more for significantly less cost than Eze.

Look at Arsenal as a prime example of this: they went from embarrassingly missing the top 4 to almost winning the title. The acquisitions of Saliba and Gabriel Jesus obviously made some degree of difference, but the real driving factor was players like Martinelli, Saka and Odegaard reaching the next level.

They are obviously a bad example to follow for winning trophies, but you cannot deny their improvement from 21/22 to 22/23.
Considering Tottenham finished 17 last season, it wouldn't be very humble for them to dismiss Arsenal as an example to follow.
Same principle applies to Tottenham about 12 years ago. In 2013 they splashed the cash on all kinds of different players and it didn't work out. Then they took a more intelligent approach under Pochettino and it worked out pretty well.

What happened spudbros? Your trophyless rivals just hijacked your number 1 target because he wanted to play for them over you. That's what I was trying to imply, yeah. I think it might just be a huge coincidence/misunderstanding that they went for Eze because Havertz got injured. I think they always wanted Eze.
Didn't think he'd be considered the left wing replacement though, unless Martinelli (or Jesus) is getting sold. Cause Trossard just got a pay increase and they already bought Madueke even if he can play on the right. The only replacement for Odegaard is 18 year old Nwaneri as far as I'm aware. Vieira too but I'm pretty sure they're trying to offload him.
Also it's always possible that they get a really under the radar striker and not someone high profile and the ITKs are just hyping people up because more engagement is good for them.

Nope, you simply aren't very smart and can't see the big picture.
Eze is a good solid player, but he's 27 years old and a lot of his goals are from penalties. He is not necessarily a good investment at £68m.
The best way to win trophies is through smart money, not mindlessly splashing cash everywhere. Tottenham's best player from the last 15 years was an academy player, Harry Kane, who cost them £0.
Tottenham have shown they are more than capable of spending big money, and more often than not it hasn't worked out. Better to be smart and let desperate Arsenal splash all their money in their hopeless quest to win a major trophy with Arteta as coach.

>It's reported that Manchester United returned to the market on August 13 because of a clause in the deal that saw Ratcliffe take 25 per cent of the club last year. It's known as a 'drag-along right' and the purpose is to prevent minority shareholders from blocking deals that the majority shareholders want to go through.

>It was agreed in the negotiations that such a clause would come into play 18 months after Ratcliffe's INEOS invested in the Premier League side. In this specific scenario involving United, it would mean Ratcliffe wouldn't be able to prevent the Glazers from selling up and cashing in on United.

>The outlet claims that while Jassim is aware of the clause and has kept an eye on the situation, those close to the Qatari camp believe he has "zero interest" in acting upon it. Instead, it's suggested the bigwigs in Qatar have turned attention to new projects, including an attempt to host the 2036 Olympic Games.

>It's also suggested that Jassim and his group have walked away from the idea of buying a Premier League side altogether, with insiders telling the Mail: "Things have changed and the project would be seen as even more difficult now for a few reasons, not least because there's a belief the standard of the Premier League has improved and it would be more difficult to turn things around."
