Gravel bike is a race bike with 90s MTB geometry and room for wide tires. Cyclocross is a race bike with slack geometry and tires wider than road racing. Hope this helped.

thor hushovd is gooning over danish riders again.......

>– I can say this much that Mads Pedersen is my dream rider. I like the way he rides his bike. He rides a bit the same way I did, so I might be a little influenced by that, says Thor Hushovd according to the Norwegian media outlet Dagbladet.

>Jonas Vingegaard is also one of Thor Hushovd's "dream riders", but the really big profiles will probably only be brought in as a prelude to 2027, he explains. And the money is there for that.

>- We have over 50 riders on the payroll, and he doesn't earn that much either. But if something like this could ever happen, it requires the right timing, says Thor Hushov.

The league is set up as a single entity that leases out team ownership to franchisees, and as such all players are essentially signed by the league and then spread amongst the teams based on internal politics. This explanation is so simplified that you can't really use it for anything but gets the point across.

Essentially, it would be like every U23 rider applies for a job with the UCI directly, and then the 18 teams would internally politic their way to selecting however many riders their team needs to be full on rookie contracts. "Picks" essentially being a currency they can trade with each other for during the season

I don't think the draft system works. How many times have we not seen some ultra talented top 3 draft picks turn out to be absolute frauds. At best it's copium for fans
>at least we'll get a good draft

Salary caps on the other hand, that's where it at. It's literally like velogames, you get a certain amount of points to build a team, with each athlete having a certain cost. It encourages picking up younger (read: cheaper) talent and developing them.

I guess the problem with cycling is that it's heavily skewed around a single captain, while the rest of team can be good and it is helpful, at the end of the day you are still relying on a single person to perform. You can have the best team in the world pulling, but if that dude can't get up the last mountain in week 3 its pointless. In cycling you kind of want that Tom Brady person sucking up 70% of your team salary, with a bunch of cheap domestiques to back him up. Where as football you just can't have that ronaldo type guy carrying the entire team, he can't defend or tend the goal too.

It's the reason that the MLS draft so fucking complicated, our franchises are competing with private teams around the world. NHL and especially NBA get away with it because they are the best leagues in their respective sports but for all leagues where America is a relative smaller part of the global sport they have to include insane workarounds to keep the league competitive and viable

CX is optimized for 33 mm tyres, so you usually get a higher placed BB, and the extra room in the forks isnt as much for thick tyres as it is for accomodating a thick layer of mud on the tyres. That and the fact that CX is slower speed riding on twisty koers means there are typically some differences in the steering geometry and thus the handling characteristics. Other than that gravel bikes often are tailored for taller stack heights and a more relaxed position and also have more accessory mounts for touring type usage, and CX bikes don't have sloping top tubes so you can carry the bike on your shoulder somewhat more comfortably. I'd say you can get either for either purpose and get away with it unless you are like super pro or something.

>The 22-year-old Danish Uno-X rider Simon Dalby was hit by two small blood clots in the brain last week. The team writes this on Instagram.

>It also appears here that Dalby, thanks to his parents' quick reaction and excellent care at the Regional Hospital Gødstrup, is now only experiencing mild symptoms. That is why he is also lucky to have escaped.

>Uno-X further writes that Dalby will now have a series of tests that will hopefully determine the cause of the blood clots. A plan will then be made to ensure that it does not happen again.

>Finally, the team writes that they send Dalby good thoughts and hope to see him back on the bike soon.

The Israeli Cycling Federation hopes to lay asphalt for a Tour de France start sometime in the future. This is according to the federation's president, Dafna Lang.

- I can't say yet that we will bid to bring the Tour de France here or organize it, but we never stop dreaming, he says in an interview with French L'Equipe.

Israel has already been visited by the Giro d'Italia, so "anything is possible" if the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas continues, he continues.

- I can't speak on behalf of Sylvan Adams (owner of Israel-Premier Tech - ed.), but I believe that when we achieve lasting peace, we will realize many major projects at the highest level by welcoming the world. We are an optimistic people, says Dafna Lang.

Thinking about visiting Belgium to see some of the classics this spring. Two questions: Flights to London are direct from Boston and maybe a third of the cost of flights to Brussels, is it crazy to fly to London and then take the Eurostar to Brussels instead of a flight with transfers? Also to see races from some sections of cobbles or ploegstreets I'm assuming I'd need to rent a car (would prefer to not if possible)?

Maybe it's not too bad to some of the classic races, but having a car certainly gives you the freedom to bring stuff like food and water. Gives you shelter if it rains and you have to wait for 5+ hours on the route. Having to do public transit back and forth sounds like a nightmare honestly. With that said I've only watched race in denmark so I don't know the logistics or infrastructure in Belgium but I'd imagine it'd be a hassle without a car.

You might also find flights with a layover in the US, or flying from another US airport rather than directly from Boston. New York - Europe is a much busier route than Boston - Europe. I don't think I've ever done a non stop Europe - Boston leg ever and I lived in Boston for a while. Chicago and DC also have major airline hubs on the east coast. My last couple of trips to Florida were the cheapest through Dallas.

This is unsurprising that they're losing grasp of the pro team. Would not be surprised if they begin to be pushed away over next 10 years and have much smaller impact on the team. From what I understand some freaks of nature have a higeax hr whilst also having a highly efficient cardiovascular system. They pump fuck load of blood around the body especially during sprints. Pogacar is a freak, he rides at staggering intensity during his attacks. I don't doubt his high max contributes to that ability. For unfit people, it's a different story. But professional athletes who can surpass the theoretical max, it's only a benefit. If he sat at 180bpm at endurance then it's concerning. But he doesn't. For the masses 220-age is obviously very accurate. Higher max as an athlete is generally a good thing.

how far have you rode this year /cyc/? pic related for me
>that elevation gain
I know, I live in a completely flat area, the only "hills" are going up and over bridges and levees there's no hills or anything mountainous anywhere near where I live, I'd have to drive an hour+ just to get to hills

I've now rode over 100 days in a row too, last year I only rode about 7k miles, the year before that only 4k but I decided to make it my primary exercise daily and ride at least 30-50 miles per day.

My speed hasn't changed much though despite riding every day, I am older, now almost 40 but I can only average around 21mph on most rides, 23mph is like my record over 50 miles if there's absolutely no wind which is rare here.

89 km/hr going down a straight, steep pass with a tailwind, could have easily cleared 100 with a bigger chainring. Once I got past 70 I didn't notice much of a difference in road feel.

My only DNF from this season was because some car had leaked tons of gasoline to a downhill mid race. The entire, already wet road, was in rainbow colors. The first couple laps were fine and then on one of the laps you could smell gasoline and the road was covered in it on the climb already. I took the downhill a bit easier "if I get dropped I get dropped, I don't get paid enough for this shit". It would've been fine and if there had been a chance to see it before the race in that condition I would've been fine bombing down it. But suddenly changing mid race was not it.

I can also notice I generally take descents easier now compared to how I did them as a 20 something youngling.

Media: Skjelmose signs new contract

Mattias Skjelmose will continue to ride for Lidl-Trek when his current contract through 2026 expires. This is reported by Feltet.

According to the cycling media, Skjelmose has signed a new contract that expires at the end of 2028. He has been riding for the team since 2020, when he joined the team in August.

Next season, Skjelmose will ride alongside several Danes. Mads Pedersen, Søren Kragh, Mathias Norsgaard and Albert Withen Philipsen also have contracts with the team until next year.

TV 2 Sport has attempted to get a comment from Lidl-Trek. The team does not wish to comment on the story.

We know from Stefan Denifl's court case that he got a blood transfusion on the second rest day of the Giro 2016. His results in the mountain stages after that? 59th, 23rd and 32nd.
The biological passport severely restricts how much can be done, the performance impact just isn't that big if you're trying not to get caught. Can't turn someone who is barely WT level into a winner.

>- To the best of my knowledge, there are only two scenarios, and here I assume that Red Bull-Bora has most obviously asked for Lazkanos' medical file before signing the contract, he begins.
>According to 'the Chicken', it is therefore absolutely crucial how much the big team's doctors knew about Lazkanos' breach of the anti-doping rules, which is supposed to have occurred in the period 2022-2024 - that is, before he joined the team.
>One scenario can therefore be truly problematic, he believes:
>- The same doctors should have seen the red flags, but have relied on the fact that the ITA/UCI has not reacted to it. That will be an even bigger problem, as it opens up a whole new flank, where many riders potentially with the team's knowledge are riding around with abnormal blood values.
>The other possibility, he believes, is that Red Bull's doctors were not skilled enough to see that there were problems with Lazkanos' blood values before they signed him.

So Redbull are either cheats or idiots.

two things are sure, it will be an european brand and the wheels will be chinese
Id really like a sarto but it's pretty expensive, the 795 comes close but it's also expensive
I'm not in a hurry tho, both my bikes are over 10years and they still have lots to give because I take care of them, but I eventually would like to have an all rounder disk road bike
maybe I can get a sweet deal on a frame down the line

Well, we still don't know any specifics other than "irregularities".
In any case, it's not necessarily easy to differentiate normal fluctuations from fluctuations due to doping. And you have to have a solid argument that it can only be the later and not the former or the case will blow up in your face, it has happened before. That's also why they have two other experts independently confirm the initial finding and why the process takes forever.
By the way, I'm convinced blood doping is being covered up as "altitude training". As long as they don't overdo it and go from 30% hematocrit to 60% within a week, it's hard to prove that they're not altitude super responders.
