Are you guys happy with the companion roster? I don't see how we're going to have Eisenhorn-style investigations on imperial worlds (which feels kind of core to the inquisitor fantasy) if an eldar and a kroot are walking around. Is this going to just be a "we're on the fringes again" type game?
I want my demon hosts and temple assasins fix scratched, man. still feelling ogryn fatigue after darktide too, doesn't feel too inspired

Done with the second banner. How does it look?
>>95857870>demon hosts and temple assasinsThose folks tend to work a bit above the pay grade of most DH parties, but I suppose the basic roster is already a cut above what's typical.
>>95857916It looks so good Iโm now awkwardly hard at work.

Are the heresy legends units going to be safe for next edition to continue being legends? Or will they eventually just not exist in datasheet form? How about the forge world models?
>>95857916Fantastic, well done.
>>95857916man, dust in the eye must be a bitch
>>95857985It is a good pain.
>>95857870It's based off of Dark Heresy, and one of the core campaign mechanics is your level overt Inquisitorial power. The RPG directly asks you the question are you going stealth or loud? Are you demanding an audience with the Governor and an Enforcer detail to escort you to the lower hive? Or are you coming into the spaceport disguised and gathering clues through subtlety before making your play?
I assume your party composition will affect that in a minor way.
>>95857870Just be aware this isn't the full roster. Rogue Trader had 5 companions that you could get in the first area. By the second act the recruitable roster goes up to 7 and the game has a total of 14 total companions (though 3 of them are pretty barebones). So there will definitely be more companions than what has been teased so far.

>>95858253Lamenterfag loves Sallyman, but nice try.
>>95857964Not sure. They've been fine every other edition but they seem to be more interested in keeping the games separated these days. That said, all of their attempts to downscale model lines have been met with pretty negative reactions with stuff like the deathwatch releasing without a codex lead to them releasing an index for them fairly quickly. I'm not sure if they even know what they want to do with the model lines at this point, it kinda seems like they're just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks rn

>>95858726>>95858715just a heads up if those are prints, do not use superclean to strip it. it dissolves print resin. i imagine iso would too if you left it in there long enough to dissolve the paint
>>95858660Good luck and congrats anon. You should bring a few rare warhammer bits and press them into his soft spot and see if you can make him a living greenstuff press mould for bits
>>95858673It's when you cess in between something
>>95858787Superclean also messes with greenstuff if you were ever curious about that, turns it into gelatinous slime that never dries. Iso should be fine for print resin though, that's what you use to wash prints out of the printer
>>95858828> that's what you use to wash prints out of the printeryeah...because it dissolves resin lol. it loosens and dissolves the excess resin from the printing process, and you typically only wash it in there for 30 sec-1min. if you did a paint strip soak for any prolonged period im pretty sure it would just eat the rest of the resin, or at least eat away the surface detail.
i would definitely test that on some spare resin bits before you commit
>>95858848I was under the impression that it only dissolved uncured resin. I'm not a printer fag but I'd never heard of anyone "overrinsing" their prints before
>>95858747I played a boarding action crusade, it was fun but it's poorly balanced
Has anyone played with the new challenger cards yet? In my experience this shit is totally busted. In a close game one player being spooned up to 12 free vp or 4 free OP strats is insane. 6VP down? How the fuck is that a comeback mechanic? It's free VP. Pressure and early scoring armies are totally in shambles. These cards are stinky as fuck.

>>95858922Was it due to boarding actions being unbalanced or the addition of crusade stuff that made it unbalanced?
>>95859246are there any armies with dragon-like units.. i like dragons
>>95859217it was boarding action itself, we had a few guard players and guard units in boarding action are just so weak that they would get tabled in 2 turns pretty consistently. Some of the missions were also really fucked up, I can't remember the name but there was one that is basically just unwinnable if you go first. We ended up having fun despite that stuff, but I think it definitely would've been better if boarding action had its own point values and rules instead of having to price stuff for matched play.
Crusade itself is also unbalanced, but in a different way that is a bit more tolerable.

18-24" range---->12" range
30-36" range---->24" range
40-48" range---->30" range
60+" range------->36" range
does this fix the games terrain issue? does the game need a range crunch?
i've played more than a few tabletop wargames, and 40k is the only one where almost every unit can tickle each others deployment zones right from turn 1 deployment. seems like this, possibly alongside a damage crunch, would help alleviate the need for 15 L shapes on every table.
SoโฆTau. Are they still unusable in the current rules?
>>95859369Thatโs actually really amazing work.
>>95857926I believe they said that the system has very little to do with the game, but perhaps the spirit of climbing the ranks of the inquisition will be similar in spirit. I'd be more interested in the higher-level stuff though.
>>95858037>Or are you coming into the spaceport disguised and gathering clues through subtlety before making your play?>I assume your party composition will affect that in a minor way.Yeah it's basically unheard of for videogames to provide such different experiences based on choice of approach, so while I really hope you can go for the infiltration-style and that depending on our companiosn your playstyle will differ widely, it's a lot more likely that those flashy companions represent the forced playstyle that will be central which is the de facto loud one; you announce your presence and you bring with you weird exotic creatures that people just have to roll with it because of your authority. Not really what I want out of an inquisitor experience, but I hope I'm wrong. Always wanted the Mass effect inquisitor game, and this is basically it, but what I pictured was again more posterboy Eisenhorn in style, the guy who did James Bond shit like creeping along rooftops in a noble's mansion and tracking heretical rogue traders incognito on the streets during an imperial guard parade, not bringing eldar with him to some fringe system tradepost which is the only place I can see them fit. I dunno, I shouldn't judge too much ahead of time, just cautious with this one.
>>95858071Cool, that's good to hear. Perhaps those I mentioned might be late-game companions for when you're a higher inquisitorial rank and can requisition those guys.

>>95859470Terrain needs to be destructible for it to be โfixedโ as the game punishes wargamers for trying to play thematically.

>>95860072I don't play Tau retard, I play melee armies, but you're a fag.
>>95859980I think it is just the rise of more competitive focus by the playerbase in general. People didn't like arguing about templates, so that went the way of the dodo. People felt bad that they couldn't pierce heavy armour, so the old toughness had to go. People also didn't like their tanks having a 1/6 chance on glance to be instantly destroyed, so that went as well etc. Instead of either sucking it up or play with the mindset of "Whatever happens, happens", people wanted to so thoroughly win that anything that meant they couldn't would be taken out. This kept spiraling and spiraling until we come to 10th which has both made everything so simple that the gameplay is disconnected from the fluff but also so complex that each variant of a weapon needs to have exceptions or their own special statline, instead of every bolter acting like a bolter.

What army is the โhuman male fighterโ of warhammer 40k?
>>95860488Space Marines, obviously. The more vanilla the better, so Ultramarines.
>>95860491>>95860488Space marines are literally humans, all male, and all warriors.
>>95860559>space marines are humansThats debatable, theyโre technically more than human
>>95860587Space Marines remaining ontologicallly human is the whole point of their creation process being just hormones, surgeries and implantation instead of genetic alteration. It was important for the Emperor to maintain marine connection to humanity instead of creating a separate dedicated warrior subspecies.
Marines cannot exist without humans.
>>95860559Space marines are abominations, they pervert the human body and soul. Also it renders them into eunuchs. So pretty much they are the uber tran.
>>95859980Mostly money reasons (more below) plus these
>>95860103>people wanted to so thoroughly win that anything that meant they couldn't would be taken out>>95860205>The playerbase got an influx of competitive cardgame and ASSFAGGOTS players, which ruined itBasically, no one would buy a vehicle since there was a 1/6 chance it wouldn't be worth putting on the table. So naturally they got buffed and removed from starter sets. Now you need to buy them separate.
Weapon options are removed or changed just in case the unit stayed physically the same size, you can't use old or secondhand models because "illegal weapon loadout".
When new thing isn't broken it's on a new base size and or primaris re-sized, because you can't use secondhand or existing models for new thing, you have to buy new.
(Newest) thing is always broken, to make sure that tournament players are buying new thing instead of buying them secondhand online. Their buyout hype drives fomo "sold out" bullshit which means casuals jump on it too.
Reminder that the votann army was so broken that it was banned from a tournament BEFORE the codex was released, based on leaks. As a result, the new overpowered army with no existing secondhand market, instead of a giant tournament presence that printed money, was ignored. It was dead on arrival. GW tried to "rebalance" the codex (always the plan in preparation for whatever the new thing would be after, I think it was jetbike spam) and GW nerfed a bunch of votan shit to try and get them unbanned, but by then the tournament players had moved on. No one cared. So the faction is now dead and abandoned with barely a full release.
Catering to balance means very little variance or unpredictability. No random tables, no lucky shots, no pile of ones ruining your streak (reroll those). Balance means a statistically average dice game where you need a new army every six months because new thing better, the way you need to buy a new magic deck every expansion.
I wish kroot were brokenโฆ
>>95860587>>95860675They're altered, but they have the DNA, heritage, and mind of a human so they're still humans.
>>95860688>no pile of ones ruining your streak (reroll those).I saw a quote from someone who does a lot of analysis of DOTA 2 e-sports that resonated with me:
>Pro players don't like randomness, they want a controlled environment that they can solveWhich echoes quite true for 40k. They promised less re-rolls but that isn't a thing, there are more of them because re-rolls are something that you can mathematically control. It's why a lot of the meta this edition has been "get a powerful effect (Lethals, Dev wounds) and a re-roll and re-roll until you get those effects pop off". For fuck sake, I've seen more than once people re-rolling their successes just because they weren't the powerful effect. That's insanity to me.
It has also extended to other parts of the game design as well. No longer are rules justified with a short blurb on what they do (Go back to the older codecies, most weapons that had descriptions usually had a description on why the rule worked they did like webbers or stinger pistols), but instead they are controlled environments that players can use. Strategy Cards (Random card drawn at the start of the game that can be played to turn the tide of battle) to Stratagems (Controlled effects that use a new resource to spend), templates for blast got replaced with a reliable, totally within control "blast" keyword.
It's really interesting how making it more fun as a "game" takes out part of the fun of the game being a representation of an actual 40k battle.
>>95860702>I wish kroot were brokenโฆThe stormsurge and riptide, despite being seventh (?) edition additions, are still so bitterly remembered as i-win buttons that the tau army remains memed and hated to this day.
Like the eldar, they will never be a broken army again, the best they can hope for is mid.
>>95857708 (OP)(GW) Kantor Blue, Khorne Red, Ushabti Bone

>>95860745>Like the eldar, they will never be a broken army againbitch what the fuck are you talking about
eldar were spanking everyone at the beginning of this edition and inevitably will again
>>95860736TBF, if you are wounding on 6s it's always worth it to fish for lethals. Which is not uncommon at all.
>>95860772Yeah but that's not really the point I'm getting at. It's no longer taking it in stride that your hits are hits, misses are misses and critical hits are critical hits. Feels like a massive "nuh-uh" even when compared to re-rolling just failures.
>>95860745Eldar will pop up as a problem child again in due time. Any range with a massive number of unit options is almost always going to end up with one or two that are busted from some unforeseen interaction or GW just not crunching the numbers properly. And she don't you understand balance for Eldar way less than I do for something like orks or tyranids or Marines.
>>95860736>It has also extended to other parts of the game design as well. >It's really interesting how making it more fun as a "game" takes out part of the fun of the game being a representation of an actual 40k battle.I think the two biggest mistakes were both gear related. No more customizing "your dudes", particularly commanders, with various wargear combos (now everyone takes the auto-include special character with preselected gear to eliminate any random "flavour" combos, ensuring controlled presets), and of course no points for wargear (who the fuck thought this would ever be balanced). Even that choice killed customization and thus "fun". Am I going to bring a ton of dudes with shit gear or less dudes with outrageously expensive gear? Both armies are stupid and not optimized, but both are gonna be memorable. Not anymore. I'm bringing statistically average pre-made army as selected by the latest tournament list, based on what armies most recently got a new codex.
The irony is after 30 years, putting primarchs on the table makes individual games less memorable, not more.
>>95860780Not that anon, I see what you're saying but it gives you freedom to get greedy and pay the cost when the dice gods betray you.
I've had plenty of games where I go to fish for 6s by rerolling all non-6 rolls and end up with fewer overall hits than I had before. And maybe one or two more 6s.
That's just the nature of dice games. I would have been safer just rerolling misses, but I had the choice to and I got punished for my greed.
>>95860798This is why I've given up on 40k and am sticking with 30k.
Though HH3.0 is no longer the containment game for grogs like me to pretend we're playing Oldhammer.
I have mixed feelings on the leaked rules but will always give them a try.
>>95860819Enjoy 30k for all of 10 minutes
>>95860819What's wrong with the new rules?
I was always turned off of HH by the higher points games and resin.
>>95860808I wouldn't mind so much if that type of re-rolling were on thematically appropriate armies like Tzeentch CSM because twisting fate yadda yadda. It's boterhsome for me that this type of gambit is even in present with armies that from top down don't take chances, they are tactically minded and will have their strategy be their path to victory.
That's more or less the crux of my point: Mechanics no longer serve to make the army feel like a living breathing army within a world, it's to give them mechanics to win games. Re-rolling successes for the chance of more critical hits at the expense of more failures sounds like a great mechanic for armies that live and breathe off gambling with fate. Same with certain other mechanics.
>>95860823The biggest offender I think from the leaked rules is the new FoC. It's a mess but it more or less means if you want to take a category of units (Heavy Support, Elites etc.), you have to take a new HQ to basically be that "detachment's" leader.
>>95860836Wait, this is bad?
That sounds based.
Yall got the tsons codex?
>>95860827Okay this is just fucking stupid. If you don't think the rule fits your army's theme, then don't fish for sixes and only reroll the misses. That fucking simple.
Just dont go pissing and shitting yourself that other players have choices to reroll misses or attempt to fish for sixes.
>>95860861Anon, why are you saying this that I blame players for GW making this a norm? Players do what players do, GW are ultimately the arbiters of the rules and I always found the game more fascinating when the rules were tied more thematically to what the army represents more than straight up archetypes that have to be filled to make an army viable.
Why did you get so mad so quickly over that? I'm just putting forward what I enjoy more about the game and kind of things I like(d) about it. You can disagree, that's fine, just don't be a whiny faggot about it.
>>95860843Well you might as well check out the other leaked rules in /hhg/ then, it's different I'll say that much.
Man the generals fucking dead. At least he isnโt here.
>>95860823The new Force org chart is pushing the HeroHammer angle with needing lots of centurions to "unlock" additional detachments for other roles.
And the new Challenge system seems fun and fluffy, but also seems easily broken by WAACfaggots being WAACfaggots. Sadly, they're creeping in from 40k as 10th drags on.
Other than that, some reservations about special rules but I still have to try it to see how everything interacts before I say it's particularly good or bad.
I'm a huge fan of the AdMech designs and lore, but am not keen on the idea of playing another horde army (I play Skaven in AoS). Have they always been like that, or have they been more elite before? Mainly I really enjoy the techpriest designs, but I do also enjoy the Skitarii rangers.
>>95860887You're the one that's crying that a rule isn't "fluffy" enough for you.
Go fuck off back to some oldhammer shithole where you can pretend GW ever wrote fluffy rules.
>>95860745>Like the eldar, they will never be a broken army againEldar have been broken in literally every single edition of warhammer.
Every single edition, from 2nd to now (and maybe in rogue trader too idk).
>>95860897I don't need much, something like pic related would tickle my fascination.
I would enjoy a dialogue with you, I do like hearing the other side of the fence regarding this issue, because it might help me understand why things have ended up the way they are.
>>95860653Dude he literally killed the thunder warriors because they werent human, and replaced them we even less human versions that he also planned to off when they were no longer convenient.
The goal was always baseline humans with eldar level psychic power, not roid eunuchs who engage in eugenics. The ARENT ontologically human is kind of a core theme of the entire series of 40k, especially Primaris because Cawl added the AutismTM gene and as we all now autists aren't human.
>>95860688>the way you need to buy a new magic deck every expansion.thankfully its not that bad. You absolutely can still play casual 40k with your fluffy army. Unlike magic, I think it might genuinely be impossible to find people to play your casual pile of your favorite cards type of magic game. And I think magic might actually be more expensive to play in the long term.
>>95860890They've always been Skitter-reliant. They were elite in 8th when their big kastelan robots were fucking bonkers broken.
You can still lean into fewer, more elite units with Kastelans and Kataphron and tanks like the Ironstrider. But sadly 40k AdMech has so many fewer elite robot choices than 30k AdMech.
>>95860910At least it isn't Yugioh where the name of the game is combo autism and keeping up with new archetypes.

What would you have done? Dishonor them with peaceful retirement? Or make them fight alongside astartes as inferior, deteriorating wrecks until they are slowly wittled down to nothing?
No, they have carried out the duties asked of them and have earned the right to go out like the warriors they are.
>>95860910>magic, I think it might genuinely be impossible to find people to play your casual pile of your favorite cards type of magic game.It exists, its called Commander.
Yes there are sweaty tryhard faggots who build broken combo decks but the vast majority of commander players are a casual low-power bunch.
It just doesn't help that Wizards keeps power creeping newer cards.
Having your favourite army become meta is such a double edged sword:
Pros
>Good rules, sometimes translates into fun rules
>Get to see way more conversions and paint jobs just because of an uptick in new players
Cons
>Everyone immediately assumes you are a WAACfag
>Can't fucking find models anywhere.
>>95860906I was under the impression he killed the Thunder Warriors because they were unstable barbarians that required constant maintenance as opposed to the much more reliable Astartes. His ultimate intentions with the Primarchs and the Astartes after the Crusade were unclear, but it wouldnโt make much sense for Big E to liquidate them anytime soon, since you also need to hold the galaxy and basically nothing is known as to when the psychic awakening would happen.
Realized that once the Imperial Knights come out itโll be all Space Marine releases for the foreseeable future with a Space Dorf intermission. And thatโs assuming theyโre not just gonna stick Space Dorfs at the end so Space Marines go uninterrupted.

How does renegade CSM who are not super into worshiping chaos and mostly just want to fight enemies they consider worthy and lead armies, sound to you Anons? They have a large militia/army of former chapter serfs (represented by cultists) and their primary objective is testing their own martial prowess and overall ability against enemies. Do you lads prefer the proportions of the new Cadians vs the old ones?
I've noticed that Reptilian Overlords is adapting to the new proportions with his new Master Regiments Template guardsmen, and Victoriaminiatures is updating her analogue catalogue with digital redone models of her works in the new proportions.
How do you lads feel about this?

or barbarian scale 48inches x 28inches
>>95861368Not a guard player I take it?
That's fine.
I'm just looking at the third party market and I'm seeing change to keep the third party minis going from the "classic" heroic scale to the "new GW" heroic scale. Not sure if those are the terms used to differentiate the previous Cadian proportions with the new ones. I think they're still heroic scaled.
>>95861367I have a bigger problem with their redesign (knee pads, helmets, collar, lasgun). At the very least the bodies are male, unlike the 50/50 split in the new Chaos cultists. Kasrkin look absolutely fucked though.
>>95861367Don't really care either way. If I had a guard army I probably would have been pissed that my old stuff is suddenly out of scale with the new kits. Also 3rd party guard sculpts mostly use the old proportions, so that's a pain point as well.
>>95861367I wasn't a super fan of the first plastic cadian proportions but sticking around for so long made them grow on me and they were compatible with tons of stuff. The new ones I don't care for for different reasons. They're kinda weird in that they're not like the "hero scale" first plastic cadians, but they're not really "true scale" proportions either. It's weird uncanny valley middle ground where they're kinda lankier with small heads that look odd. I have some other complaints too but not really related to proportions.
I liked Victoria Miniatures' Arcadian designs and how they're inspired by the old metal cadians a lot, but I bought a female squad to try and the actual resin cast quality was not very good so I didn't end up buying any more. If she updates those with STLs I'll definitely be tempted to try printing them myself.

>>95862117I'd say do a blended red/orange for most of their armour and try get the fingerprint pattern on them somehow and save the bright yellows for the eyes.
Unfortunately, all the enemies that use Frenzy are typically in dull yellow robes (Midra/Cultists) or there's stuff like the witches. And Shabiri in the Ronin stuff is just normal greys/browns and the same goes for the fingerprint armour you can get.
I don't remember Vyke having much of a design aside from Invader Red.

>>95863104Fascinating, thanks for looking that up anon. Have Tzeentch or Nurgle had female presentations? Tzeentch has a lot of moon imagery in his symbols and daemons which in a lot of different mytholoiges has a female connatations, Aztec, Greek, Roman, chinese, ancient Egypt etc
>>95861697>didn't humanity spread across the galaxy before psykers started popping up?Yes, in pre 3rd edition lore during this time, humanity spread across the galaxy using advanced technology, artificial intelligence, warp drives, and tech based Astronomicon-like devices. Psykers were not common or even present in notable numbers at this stage.
Warp travel was relatively stable and passable due to the warp being less turbulent, and human navigators (in the psychic sense) were not a factor in space travel, the AI's could handle it no bother. Gellar fields (called reality bubbles in RT if I recall correctly) existed and were again tech based and didnt require the current era's level of Tech-Psyker fuckery to function, possibly due to the stable state of the warp in this time, and also probably because humanity wasnt a bunch a bumbling tech-illiterate retards.
>>95863125>Have Tzeentch or Nurgle had female presentations?None that I know of, but I hardly have an encyclopedic knowledge of warhammer lore. It's not like it would be difficult to give either of them feminine representation either. Tzeentch, as you said, easily fits into a moon theme and moon goddesses are common, and the moon itself is constantly in a shifting state so no trouble having a tribe or planet worshipping the moon, making it female and having it be an aspect of Tzeentch. Nurgle is probably even easier, literally a deity of life, death and fertility, I'd say he's in the minority among those because he is pretty much exclusively depicted as male. Even in warhammer most life-related deities are female (Shallya, Isha, Alarielle, Ariel, etc)
>>95863136>in pre 3rd edition lore>using advanced technology, artificial intelligence>tech based Astronomicon-like devices>human navigators (in the psychic sense) were not a factor in space travel, the AI's could handle it no bother.I do not remember coming across any of this. >>95863173Well, I'm an old fart and I actively played in 2nd, 3rd and 4th edition before taking a long long break from the game, and only coming back in the tail end of 9th, and that's the lore I remember.
>>95863173>tech based Astronomicon-like devicesCodex Imperialis (1993):
โincredibly sophisticated and reliable warp drives... capable of traveling immense distances... aided by devices that maintained warp routes, acting like lighthouses and communicated vast distances instantly.โ
They werent as powerful as the astronomicon but were available and spread out across the galaxy as humanity expanded to provide local navigation and routes to the next beacon.
Hmm, hold on you know what I could do? Let me get PDF's of all the 1st, 2nd and 3rd edition books and load them all into Google NotebookLM so you can query it for exact answers if you want. It'll take it a few hours to OCR all the text mind you but its extremely powerful once its up and running and it will only give answers pertaining to what it has been loaded with.
>>95862995Seems like a (You) problem anon. It seems perfectly coherent that with how powerful the Eldar were before Slaneesh that Chaos would be kept in check until Slaneesh was born and drove the Eldar to near extinction.
>tfw still have the 3rd & 4th edition rulebook sitting in a cupboard at my folks house
Are they worth reading? I don't remember reading any of the lore when I was a kid, just got it for the rules
>>95863173>>human navigators (in the psychic sense) were not a factor in space travel, the AI's could handle it no bother. This just falls back on the warp being more stable before the birth of Slaanesh, so the same routes could be used over and over again with reliability, you didn't need a navigator to route you around warp storms and currents taking you off course. Even if you did end up off course you could just get the ships computer to find the nearest warp beacons and plot a route back to wherever you were supposed to go.
>>95863229>communicatedI typoed that, it should be "communicating".

>>95862995>Just rewriting Chaos as an eldritch horror from beyond the dawn of time and also keeping all the events progressing normally like it wasn't looming in the Warp the whole timeThe way the causality of the warp is played is consistent. Each chaos god has a defined birth, before those births the gods did not exist(at least not fully formed), but after the births the gods always existed, this changes things retroactively. Slaanesh did in fact not exist until the Eldar birthed them, and the warp was relatively quiet during that era. Now that Slaanesh exists they are able to influence the past though, and you'll get the story where slaanesh daemons could be locked up in a vault from the war in heaven. Causality in the immaterial hasn't changed, history is still history and the chaos gods can't change the facts as they are while at the same time we see bits of their influence in the past slip through, like peering into alternate histories.

>>95863535its because you are autistic, not low IQ. I'm sure you are plenty intelligent. However, things either are or aren't in your worldview. It's binary, black and white. For neurotypical people, things being in a state of flux or being two contradictory things at the same time is possible. For most people, saying what you posted exists because the warp is an extradimensional space that borders both the past and the future is enough. It even makes sense with babies first understanding of general theory of relativity. You can chalk up the wierdness of it to the inherent power and mystery of the warp, where anything is possible. Being autistic, you can't imagine ANYTHING being is possible because the warp has to follow RULES. Rules, of course, being whatever things you happen to have read and any contradictions are resolved with the sources you prefer resulting in your own personal headcannon in how the warp works.
>>95863551It only looks like a strawman to you because you missed the point: you can't ask why slaanesh didn't kill the eldar gods before it did as if it's somehow a plot hole because you assume it's logical for slaanesh to do so, your assumption of what's logical for slaanesh is not going to be sound because the chaos gods don't think logically like normal beings, they won't behave like you want them to behave in a scenario where you want to unleash everything they possibly could.
>>95863535It's not difficult to understand, anon, chaos IS nonsensical.
>>95863526Unlike wotc, GW has VERY strong IPs. Magic is being infested by crossovers because there's no real setting or story to usurp, no one cares about the jacetice league and the dragon pride parade or whatever the fuck is going right now in mtg's actual story, and slapping art on cards is easy as fuck. It's not like they actually base any of the rules on the crossover things they represent, it's all just stuff that could just as easily have been in-universe.
GW, on the other hand, is basically built on people's love for warhammer, and casting new models is a much more involved process than printing cardboard. While I can absolutely see GW making models from other IPs (hell, that's what MESBG is, and it's great), I don't think they're in any hurry to dilute their warhammer brand.
>>95863634And really they don't need too, they have a ton of warhammer nostalgia they can milk, a lot easier and cost them nothing. Hell HH has essentially just been that. >>95863932Its not a canon relationship and probably because Eldar are walking the Paths which naturally makes them extremely racist and prudish.
Most dark eldar a human will meet are roughly the same age as humans and much less racist though obviously far more evil. Dark Eldar warbands are filled out by vatborn children they make in large groups and come out as adults already and are taught to serve the warband. They tend to have pretty low self esteem by being shit on all the time by Deldar society, and their society is very cosmopolitan with tons of aliens living in, working and trading in Commoragh.

They comfortably talk about how the game is woke and bad with their sub 5 games of 10th total and haven't played a single game of warhammer in 2 years. >>95864281It's very hard to take a lot of the takes on game balance in this thread seriously because the constant complaints of how "you get tabled by turn 3" shows that everyone here is really, really bad and does not get the basics of the game
>>95864396You can get tabled that easily if you don't take certain units in certain armies. If you don't like nundams you have a really bad time in Sisters for instance. Internal balance is super fucked this edition because they kind of delivered on their "less lethal" promise for everything except combos. A unit doesn't really do anything unless it has a combo this edition.
Okay since the thread is slow I'll try this:
Can we have a reasonable, non-shitpost, non-aggressive discussion about the pros and cons of Primaris and Firstborn designs? Like just genuinely breaking down in good faith what people like and dislike about each of them and which they prefer.
For example, I think one of the things the new Primaris models fail to capture is the "industrial" aesthetic on some of the older model - their smooth panels and plating misses out on that brutalism of exposed cabling, pipes, and vents that the older minis had which helped them feel more like gothic dieselpunk and less like iphone-era space men.
>>95864430That's a lot more on the offensive side of things, but there's clearly a very big defensive lack of knowledge here where people think they deploy out in the open and die turn 1, or fail to utilize LoS and get punished for it
>>95864441Well you can play cagey and keep all your units safe-ish until turn 5 but then you don't score anything. That's the problem I've been having with the fists detachment; I can remove key things but I just can't remove enough to score in the second half.
>>95864430Its pretty hard to be tabled unless you deploy very very badly. I would say deployment is just extremely important this edition which is something weaker players always struggle with. Weaker players tend to really underestimate how important scouting/infiltrating units are. The only thing that really let people hit stuff over the whole game is long range indirect and it got nerfed multiple times, which is a good thing for those casual players.
Not sure how you are getting tabled as sisters when we have stuff like 3 man arco squads to take the heat on objectives and rhinos are 75 points. If you play a 2k game you should have quite a bit of stuff on the table OR very tough and good vehicles like the castigator.
>>95864435>Can we have a reasonable, non-shitpost, non-aggressive discussion>about the pros and cons of Primaris and Firstborn
>>95864435Primaris Pros:
Better proportions
More variety in kits
Can properly convey the roles of their units outside of just wargear thanks to the very different profiles of all 4 armour classes
Vehicles are way more modular which grants better value per purchase (Like the Gladiator kit being 3 variants + Impulsor in one, but a vindicator only had bits for a vindicator + rhino)
Because of the profiles being less squat, you can fit a lot more bling on units and it looks far more natural instead of squished (i.e. BGV vs old terminators)
Cons:
Less dynamic posing
More of a 'clean' design
There are a bunch of stinkers
Replaces iconic firstborn designs
The stinkers are REALLY bad (Desolators, Aggressors) whenever they fuck up .
>>95864430If you have trouble getting tabled I'd ask for more terrain at your locals
>>95864477>AggressorsAggressors really grew on me, not sure why. But it sucks because the bolter version sucks ass and thats the version I built because I think they are way cooler.

>>95864493There are Gravis captain Aggressors that I actually really like the look of, I think it's mainly the power fists being too wide causing it to look way too top heavy and the bad monopose
>>95864435I fail to really think of any part of Primaris that I actually like. I think it's because they were so unnecessary, they replaced something that I liked and have to do so much more than just look average to justify replacing something, and they fail to do that. If all the knowledge of what a space marine looked like before Primaris was deleted from my memory, I think they'd look fine. I don't like MkX helmets because they look squished and the earflaps look like they're wearing a weird ushanka. I don't like their breastplate having a raised section right under the aquilla because it breaks the clean lines of the plate and adds unnecessary clutter, same with the small vents on the bottom of the plate. I miss the triplex cables underneath the plate. I don't like the vambraces because they have weird buttons you have to paint that have no discernable function. I don't like the tassets on the belt because they look too floppy and they're hard to paint underneath. I don't like the weird ridged undersuit, looks too much like they're made of old bike tires, compared to the corrugated joints of older armor it looks bloated and diseased. I don't like the raised sections on the greaves either because it makes the thighs look too skinny. I don't like the ridged poleyn, it breaks the line going from the top of the knee to the bottom of the foot. I don't like the whole schynbald arrangement with the balled joints, those remind me of pimples and I just want to pop them. I don't know why marines went from having enclosed greaves to just having a schynbald in the front; I thought Intercessors were supposed to be generalist; up armored fronts make more sense for MkIII armor since it was both a stopgap and used for boarding actions where flanking was less likely. I think they deepened the toe too much on the sabotons too; it makes them look like they dropped a safe on their toes. I don't like the power backs either, the peak and ball look bloated again.

>>95864550you have adhd and a low iq
>>95864471I'm just starting my sisters out but I don't have many arco squads and I have no castigators. My armor comprises of a rhino, an Immolator, and an Exorcist. Most of my army is actually the jump pack sisters, I have somewhere around 30 of those. They can do things but they don't put out great damage. Again though, this goes back to bad internal balance. Yeah sisters can do ok if you have these units, but if you don't then it's a lot harder.
Sisters is a smart man's army though so I don't feel too bad about not doing well with them.
When I was getting tabled iirc it was turn four or five though, but it was just a lot of putting a zephyrim blob into something, not killing it, and then welp that's whole load blown for the game. Actually by the time I put the exorcist in, I wasn't even getting "tabled", but the exorcist was so far out of being able to do anything it might as well have not been there.
>>95864517I agree with this post pretty much. And I think it rings true because the people who started post Primaris tend to not really be bothered by Primaris designs or actively prefer them. I think Mk 7 and Mk 8 armor genuinely looks better and the nostalgia element is a strong one. Having nostalgia for a classic design isn't really a bad thing. But I also understand that it is a matter of taste.
By far, imo, the worst part of Primaris design is the guns. The guns are all overdesigned garbage that look AI generated. Just pointless ridges or shapes with no connection to an actual weapon. Absolutely random and pointless lines and silhouettes where everything has to be a LEGALLY DISTINCT PRIMARIS version of an existing imperial weapon. BIGGER, MORE TUBES, MORE LINES, MORE WIERD POINTLESS SHAPES! ITS BETTER!!!!!!! I hate it.
