TQ: Favorite UB showcase art style?
I pulled a surge foil noctis from probably the only collector booster I'll buy. Am I obligated to build him now?

I could go for more dnd sets.
The individual art for these is very hit or miss, especially with faces, but I think the general style of these look good and still like a magic card
Friday FNM at my shop has a $5 entry fee, but whoever wins the pod gets $10 in store credit for winning, maximum of 2 per pod. Despite this, itโs still a casual environment because who the fuck is going to angle shoot over $20 in marked up singles.
Anyways, someone did. On Friday, we had a player a couple pods over with a fully netdecked almost fully proxied Bracket 4 eldrazi deck. Almost all of the lands, creatures, and spells were proxied. So was the commander (Ulalek). Which isnโt bad on its own, except for the fact that the rest of the table was solidly bracket 3 and he was high bracket 4. Also, he straight up didnโt know how to play the deck; he thought cascade was โless than or equal toโ not โless thanโ and tried to cascade sire of seven into ugin.
All in all, he was simultaneously way more powerful than the rest of the pod but unable to convert that advantage due to having zero threat assessment or game IQ, and being generally stupid. I talked to some of the others in his pod as we were walking out, and they said it felt like a retarded mountain lion poorly mauling a toddler for 4 hours before finally eating it. Then, I wake up to picrel discord announcement this morning. I donโt really know what to say to this. There isnโt really a point to this story. I just fucking hate it when someone tries to go hard and jam out that they ruin FNM like this.
>>95873945Damn meanwhile my store just sells the "playtest cards" (proxies)

>He buys UB cards
>He doesn't make UB proxies of UB cards
>>95874094I don't proxy cards except to playtest or if I fuck up orders. I don't see much point to it unless the cards are way fucking expensive, which then generally means I probably don't need that kind of gas at a commander table.
If I end up needing more juice for the deck, then I just buy the card when it shows up at my LGS or online.
Thanks for reading my blog.

>>95874382>How many times has Azusa gotten the UB treatment now?Not as many as you remember
>>95873790 (OP)>>95873806>>95873892This cards all display my biggest problem with MTG. If I was a new player I'd be asking "what is dash/mutate/lifelink?" The best of my knowledge the only way to find out is ask another player or Google it. I have only ever seen 1 rule book and I have no idea where it came from.
The other thing is creature type. Monkey Pirate, the fuck is that? He is probably the only one and ever will be. Octopus is surely at least fairly common, and I'd expect human noble to be. It makes it hard to build support for things. I'll never have a card that says "all monkey Pirate you control get. +1/+1 until end of turn" because there are no other monkey Pirate.
>>95874114Whenever I finish a game I like I usually make a set of basics out of it.
Sometimes I'll do a command tower and a utility land too, but basics are obviously a lot easier to fit into new decks.
>>95874336they are projections thrown at the enemy
>>95874418"monkey pirate" isn't one singular creature type, he's a monkey that benefits from monkey synergy (really just Kibo I think) and mostly synergizes with pirates as he does two things most pirates do, make treasure and "steal" cards. MTG almost never checks to see if something's two creature types to do synergies, this isn't YGO.
Frankly the art is a bigger draw than the game now.

>>95874418>If I was a new player I'd be asking "what is dash/mutate/lifelink?"I started playing with LCI and I can confirm this was a barrier to entry for a while.
>I'll never have a card that says "all monkey Pirate you control get. +1/+1 until end of turn" because there are no other monkey PirateThis is retarded though. It doesn't take more than a cursory glance at creature types and any tribal synergy piece to understand a creature is all of its subtypes, not one single combined subtype. I'm having trouble describing what I mean because I can barely comprehend not being able to understand it.
>>95874418With the exception of Time Lord, every creature type is a singular word. Ragavan is a Monkey and a Pirate. Plenty of things care about Pirates, few things care about Monkeys.
>>95874459For UB, mainly. The in-universe sets are repulsive. Seeing a mouse piloting a cyberpunk laser motorcycle is way more immersion breaking than a soldier with a sword.
>>95874445>>95874461Creature types never came up while I actively played, because we all sucked. I did not know that is how they functioned and I am 100% certain no one I played with did either.
That just adds to confusing new players imo
>>95874461>I started playing with LCIwhy
>>95874469Thing: Japan
>>95874418Anon, the showcase art I posted is a special art that does not include the massive fucking explanatory text that came with almost every mutate creature. I ordered it explicitly to look cool because I KNOW HOW THE FUCKING CARD WORKS.
You can be forgiven for not knowing how one of the most complicated set mechanics in the game works, but use your fucking brain.
Dash needs some explaining, but that Zidane is also another special art card, so it's not going to have reminder text.
Lifelink is a type of effect called an 'evergreen' ability; in that it is so commonly printed you will rarely have a game or a pile of cards that don't have at least one card that has it. It's ubiquitous enough you're expected to be learning it when you're learning how the cards work at their most basic level; similar to things like Haste, First Strike or Deathtouch.
>>95874507I cannot believe they made Cait Sith uninteresting as fuck. Yusri is a better Cait Sith than Caith Sith.
I wanna build Moogle tribal but man I wish there were more Moogle cards.
Changelings it is, I suppose.
>>95874505I finally got to sit down and take a picture of it. This is my current Golbez deck. I kinda wanna add Treno and Mistvault Bridge and it could likely do with a few tweaks. Other considerations like Walking Ballista instead of Torment of Hailfire.
>>95874605Have you played it yet? Is it fun?
>>95874605this looks expensive as fuck. how much money did you drop on these cards??
>>95874621Yeah I did, went 3-2 in a 3-man pod on Thursday. When it doesn't get stuck, it's fun and has a lot of triggers. Matoya and Unshakable Tail are all-stars in it. So far the only wincon that's gone off was Golbez himself grabbing Apocalypse Demon, Master of Etherium, or Broodstar. Worldwalker Helm and Stridehangar both make even singular tokens dig deeper, and one game I got out Enhanced Surveillance and really blew through my deck for a win.
>>95874633For creatures, mostly cheap or pulled from packs or their original precons but I think I paid 60 for the Arcbound Ravager.
For enchantments, Chains and Rhystic were gifts and Biotransferrence I got from my Necron precon
Instants and Sorceries, I paid for Torment of Hailfire, Mana Drain, and the cheap ones. I unpacked the Fierce Guardianship, and the FoW, Entomb, and Vamp tutor were gifts.
In Artifacts, I bought the Mox Opal, unpacked half a dozen Mox Ambers when I was opening BW, the Chrome, KCI, and Sol Ring were gifts, I think I got the rest normally like TOR from a bundle when the bundle was cheaper than the card itself.
For lands, the inkstains were pulled, the beta lands were in an old box I got from my older brothers' friend like 20 years ago when I started magic (had no idea they were in there til semi-recently), unpacked the Sewers, was given Urza's Saga (and like 3 more copies of it), and gifted the Polluted Delta expedition, I think I bought everything else at various dates over time
>>95874483Well that's just a matter of mechanical depth. Types-mattering is one of the critical archetypes of the game.
We used to call it Tribal but WotC told us that was racist and renamed it to Kindred so we still call it Tribal.
>>95874660yeah I was eyeballing that fucking artifact pile. just that pile looks like $800+, the mox opal alone is like $220

>>95875134Its very clearly you are lying about your friends decks here
>>95875229>99% of decks want to discard!!Nope. Most decks in fact, want things in their hand. Edhgbrain in full force here
>>95875401Depends anon. Likely it will work. There is one case I can think of where it won't work. Let's say the two triggers look like this
>at the beginning of tour end step put a counter on a creatureFine, you put your counter on
>at the beginning of your end step IF you put a counter on a creature this turnThere are multiple words for it, I was taught it being called an intervening "If" clause. It's a triggered ability, but it only has the chance to trigger at the beginning of the end step IF you've met that condition. So if the first trigger is how you'd meet the condition, then no it won't trigger. If it triggers regardless and you just order them in the right way, it'll count.
>>95873945so actually the only problem was he didn't know how to pilot his deck

>>95876531thanks anon. the end step triggers confuse me a bit. let me try this myself to see if I understood you correctly:
>gain 1 life during my turn>gain 2 life as endstep trigger from Wall of ReverenceLathiel's trigger condition says "if", that means I need to gain life from somewhere before the end step. I gained 1 life this turn, so Lathiel's trigger goes on the stack. But: I can have Wall of Reverence resolve first, adding 2 more life, and making Lathiel distribute 3 counters total. Correct?
>>95876570my favorite ramp in the game.
>>95876570I have learnt to only curse myself with it because if I use it on someone else they just plot against me and attack my face anyway

>>95876534>if you're proxying it must be an overpowered staple!Nice projection my friend but not everyone is a tryhard with no self control like you. I bet you have Sol Ring in your decks.
>>95876591Not much really since they lose it when they're brought back. So just double up on etbs. Board wipe protection? If you wanted to combo you'd need some fancy stuff. A creature that can untap it on ETB, deceiver exarch for example, something that puts a +1/+1 counter on your creatures as they enter so you can do more persists and probably an altar or another untapper to keep on paying for it

We still buying 780$ Final Fantasy collector booster displays?
>>95876534what is an expensive card? anything above a few cents? $10? 50?
is everyone you are playing against just rocking precons + boosters?
I think the main problem is that paypigs are mad at how proxychads are able to access the entire library of the game and build every deck they want on the fly, while paypigs have to carefully consider their bank account, plan their orders, wait for shit to arrive etc. By the time a paypig has completed their deck, a proxychad has already played his first 10 games. And if a paypig doesn't like the deck they built, they are stuck with their purchases, while the proxychad just builds the next deck, completely free of mind.
I honestly pit you. Being forced to constantly limit yourself because you are not only poor, but also stupid.
so did they just forget to print extended art foils or something why are 2 dollar cards foils like 90
>>95876775>meaning you have an additional free turn after playing it before you have to pay echo costThat's never how echo worked, it's always been "pay the casting cost again after the turn you summon this"
>>95876867but it's not under my control since the beginning of my last upkeep, I always wait the extra round
are you telling me I have been cheating this whole time
>>95876903>At the beginning of your upkeep, if this came under your control since the beginning of your last upkeep, sacrifice it unless you pay its echo cost.Yes, I don't see how you could misinterpret this. It's very straightforward
>Did this come under your control last turn? Pay it's summoning costIs the easier way to read it
>>95876925>if this came under your control since the beginning of your last upkeepI have no idea how to interpret this line as anything but
>beginning of upkeep triggers go on stack>"has this been under your control since the beginning of your last upkeep?">no, it came under my control during my last pre-combat main phase>"ok, you don't need to sac it yet"

>all these proxyfags whinging about proxying expensive cards
>not a single deck posted to prove they aren't just fags printing power
>>95874676people hate UB because it's not Magic.
Swapping to a card game that isn't Magic does not solve that issue dumbass.
Also, like
>>95874727 says, WotC got this idea by copying shitty asian ones that are like 30% crossover. Asia LOVES crossover events, consistent self-coherent worldbuilding is still a foreign concept to them, that's why anime is the way it is. Media is disposable.
Where as in the West it's basically only reserved for the last gasps of a dying IP, trying to coat-tail ride successful IPs back to relevance again or at least get a nice cashgrab before going under.
Yugioh actually has done a LOT of crossovers. Just not in its own game, its the stalwart pillar drowning companies cling to for a last chance at life by polluting their narrative.
And pokemon has a broader IP than just cards so the cards stay relatively untouched outside of unplayable happy meal releases only art collectors care about, but regularly lends their brand out too, Pokken, PMD, Pokemon Conquest, etc.
Actually, if we consider the happy meal ptcg situation, yugioh has had some equivalents. One for Monster Strike, one for a potato chip company, one for a dinosaur museum exhibit, one for a festival TV Tokyo was doing. They too are all special promo unplayable shit. I'm beginning to see a pattern here and it's one maybe MtG should have learned from. Way too late now though.
Basically, it's always the big name lending their IP out to the little or dying name. Big name never taints itself with the irrelevant name.
Honestly it makes the Genshin Aloy thing confusing to me, as far as I know Genshin has always been a money printer. If anything it should have been the one lending out to HZD. I can only assume Sony forced the issue as part of crossplay negotiations.
With how royally fucked allocation is, should I buy cards now or later?
I also heard the next big re-release is in Q4, so I don't want to FOMO if things will drop heavily like they did with LOTR

What should I do to pump her up? I have some equipments that could be easily dropped into these colors, but I don't have any spare tutors to grab them as casually as I'd like to. I have random things that give +1/+1 counters, but not to the high extent I'd enjoy. I could do combat tricks in specific moments, but I feel like that's just asking for someone to use spot removal just to deny me a card. Or do I just leave her at 1 and take advantage of bigger creatures to sac instead?

Also UB tourist just getting in to commander. I got all four precons. I'm looking to build my own decks too. I was looking in to how the bracket system works and wondering if I'm supposed to build a deck for each bracket? It says the precons are all 2, so I need to build a deck for 1, 3, 4 and 5 right?
>>95878294I think you misunderstand how the licensing works. It's very unlikely that Wizards has to pay a flat fee to the licensor and then try to recoup that loss. What's the licensor getting out of that really? If they license for 500k and the set makes a billion dollars, they won't see a penny of it.
More likely they enter a contract where they get a percentage of sales, with a guaranteed minimum pay-out.
So Wizards likely hasn't been charged double or whatever, Squenix has probably seen the success of other sets and demanded a higher minimum.
Additionally, they can have clauses in contracts that are very vague. Like "take all reasonable steps to maximize profit". In which case doubling the price of the set would be pretty reasonable, as it's clear pay-piggies will pay that much.
Plus, the Japs are notoriously fucking greedy. Inventors of the gacha game, Nintendo never reduces it's prices even after 10+ years. So it may even be possible that Squenix does see their IP as more valuable than Fallout and Lord of the Rings.

>>95878393>you should always be playing to winthat's not true, commander is mainly about managing feelings and making sure everyone is having fun. trying to win is generally frowned upon because it means other players won't have fun.
>>95878393>Does Kuja seem like a good pick for a commander? He seems fine, though you lose out on a lot of the really good wizards that are in blue like Archmage Emeritus. If you really want to have a deck helmed by Kuja go with the reprint of Inalla and slot Rakdos Kuja in the 99 (Even if it has the worst art of all the Through the Ages cards, why the fuck did they go with such a weird close-up shot from the game rather than something like the art Amano did).
>>95878456Oh really? Everyone I played with at the store over the weekend seemed like they were trying to win every game, but I won most of the games I played so maybe they weren't trying? I don't get why you wouldn't try to win, or why you would look down on someone for trying to win. It seemed like we were all having fun.
>>95878393>I don't get why you would make a deck worse than a precon unless you have some kind of mental disability.
>>95878443Hope you had a nice weekend, back to the cagie tomorrow.
>>95878471The art on that one doesn't look as cool and I didn't get that card. I'll keep on the look out for it though in case I pull it next weekend. My idea was to play the cards that make the black mage tokens and then play some cheap instant speed cards so that I can let Kuja flip over and then kill everybody during my end step after he flips over, or like in response to someone trying to hit him with a kill spell.
>>95878482It seemed like we were all having fun anyway though, and getting pounded in the ass by starter decks doesn't sound fun to me. I meant like, if I'm investing time and money in to making a deck and I can't at least make it as good as a starter deck then I need to reevaluate what I'm doing because I'm clearly not doing it right.
>>95878130you forgot the greatest wheel of them all
>>95878517Honestly Bracket 1 has the same purpose as Bracket 5: They're tiers that provide vocabulary to players regarding "bad" piles and cEDH.
You can make Bracket 1 intentionally, but honestly most ideas that exist there can be elevated to 2 with a little bit of effort; but it does provide a non-insulting way to talk about and engage with a deck that is not meeting precon levels. That said, there's nothing stopping you from having fun with a Bracket 1 table, it's just primarily more helpful as a concept rather than as a tier. Similarly, there are no real differences between Bracket 4 and Bracket 5 other than the intentions and degree of optimization by players. cEDH (beyond being a meme) is trying to win at all costs as fast as possible-- it's not to say a Bracket 4 deck isn't trying to win, it's just that its goal is not to ultra consistently close out games as early as possible; there is breathing room and the ability to play the game instead of comboing off after three mulligans or scooping.
>>95878484Say what you wish, you cannot say I'm wrong
>>95878476There's trying to win, as in making sure the game doesn't durdle around with nothing happening, in which case yes, every deck should have SOME kind of plan to eventually win, and then there's "trying to win" as in turbo-spike behavior where you see every kitchen table game as tournament CEDH.
>>95878511as if you aren't yourself living in one yourself, mr neet.
the difference is I choose mine.
>>95878592>making sure the game doesn't durdle around with nothing happening, in which case yes, every deck should have SOME kind of plan to eventually win,This literally never happens. Its a boogeyman invented by combo players and 'that guy' to justify why they just HAVE to play their goodstuff pile and win on turn 5.
The longest game I've ever been in was 2h 15 min, and while it did become a slog I'm fine with it. Basically a new player had a way to board wipe every turn, and I had a way to recover most of my board every turn and we were the last 2 in it.
But thems the breaks. I'm here to play commander, I'm not going to complain about playing too much commander, I'll only complain if I didn't get to play enough.
>>95878517>and I can't at least make it as good as a starter deck then I need to reevaluate what I'm doing because I'm clearly not doing it right. You're missing the point. You design specifically for fitting a specific bracket. You build a bracket 1 deck not because you can't make it bracket 2, but because you want to have a zany wet noodle slapfight.
>>95878092Thanks for being the single helpful person in this thread
>>95878612>This literally never happens.>he's never played against no-win-con hater staxHow's your first week playing magic been?
>>95878629>>he's never played against no-win-con hater staxI literally have, and you just roll over that player and the game continues as normal. It's literally that easy, faggot.
to the anon who shilled this guy earlier.
thanks my man. deck is a lot of fun. already managed to snatch a win cause he can get out of control surprisingly fast.
>>95878612I've literally seen it at tables retard. Everybody pulls their outs and wipes and hits the table and you're watching two or three players going at it to turn 16-- going at it charitably meaning topdecking more wipes and answers and recasting commanders for the third time.
Combo players being retards about justifying their play patterns is one thing, but you can actually end up in EDH purgatory if you're unlucky. That's honestly why most precons don't go heavy on wipes, they're not super optimized, but they don't level the gamestate suddenly-- progress is being made with most card plays.
>>95878555So if I'm understanding this right. If I think someone's deck sucks, I just say it's a 1 instead of saying it sucks? If I think someone's deck is too strong, I say it's a 5 instead of saying their deck is better than ours?
>>95878592I felt like we were able to wrap up every game by like turn nine or ten at the latest, but sometimes it was kind of decided on like turn six even if we couldn't close out until turn eight. One of the guys I played with was playing some custom deck that pretty much only drew cards and put lands in to play and they got mad at me for hitting them a lot, but I assumed they must have strong cards in their deck if they need that much mana and they always had the most amount of cards in hand so I felt like I was making the right call, but some of the other players were saying I was being sweaty.

Good news everyone! I found another sexy goblin bitch that can compete against Kreat!
>>95878661>you're watching two or three players going at it to turn 16-God forbid!
Look man, you hate commander but you love winning. You want to play as little commander as possible while winning as much as possible, so you combo off somewhere in turn 5-8, and that's fine. But you need to understand that most games are going for 12 turns. 16 really isn't as big a number as you thought it was. You could at least have exaggerated to 20 or something.

>>95878612I once had a guy show up with no wincon chaos where after like 3 hours we still hadn't finished a game and I finally just left the store. Haven't played with him since
>>95878621You could've typed your post into Google and gotten the answer quicker you stupid FF fag
>>95878663the trick is to befriend the player you bullied to near death and make a deal to fight the other two with him. this is one of the most basic rules in a social deathmatch.
There's a guy in my group who is violently opposed to cEDH, but all of his decks are Simic, Dimir or Sultai and will run every goodstuff card (all efficient tutors, Mystic Remora, Rhystic Study, 20+ counterspells and interaction, Gaea's Cradle, etc) in his colors. The only real different between his decks and a cEDH list is that he just removes any combo like Thassa's Oracle or whatever to replace it with a different two card combo. He'll get mad at decks that try to threaten wins or target him. If any deck manages to win against his deck, he says it's too strong and practically cEDH even if the opposing deck runs zero gamechangers or tutors.

>>95878702>>95878801Would I play mono-white voltron if I only cared about winning you troglodyte?
I generally like boards threatening each other turn 7 or 8 and actually popping off close to turn 10 or 11. If land destruction isn't involved how fucked do you think the players have to be to not be able to get shit rolling again with over a dozen mana sources?
If the game goes to round 20 because of incredible fucking wild boardstates, that's fine, I don't like empty boards after a dozen turns waiting for someone to lame out a combo from the scraps off the top of their deck. Pretending that doesn't happen is either intentional disingenuity or inexperience at tables.

>>95879122My protection is mostly blue, which includes counterspells that can also hit combos. I enjoy decks that put the opponents on a fast clock and challenge them to find a way to kill me first. In this way the deck is pretty satisfying because it's about me having to hold a bunch of answers and figure out which is the best to use at a particular moment between hexproof, counters, bounce, etc. Thinking about it the deck plays a lot like a 60 card control deck does in the late game, which you establish your threat and keep the game locked down so the opponent(s) can't kill it or stick their own threat.

>>95880168Same with yesterday. I'm now a monarchist.

>>95880180It's a vehicle given that there's a guy riding on top of the ball and there was a faction of bug people so into racing they turn into vehicles at some point in their lives.
It's a ball of debris, with reference to dung beetles.
How exactly it gains life, I'm less sure on, but I'd say it's something along the lines of rolling over the opponents' stuff and collecting it in the ball of debris. Though that makes more sense for an exile until removed effect.

Here are the pros and cons of using proxies
pros
>access to any card you want without giving money to some scalpers or investment tards
>doesn't gatekeep anyone from joining the game
>some cards are really just not worth the pricet ag on the sec market
>fucks over scalpers, hoarders and speculators
>everybody can have fun
>you can make proxies with custom pictures
>you can make proxies and rebalance cards
>anyone who wants to force you to use "real" cards is either a wotc employee or a scalper so you already have filtered them out
>you don't give wotc any money for their shit game design and pandering to the homosexuals
Cons
>none
Proxying is your god given duty, Anon.
>>95880020There's a lot of cards in this set I'm excited to try my hand at. Celes, Choco, Vivi, Kefka, Vincent, Sephiroth, Jenova, Golbez (finished), etc. I had a blast opening up my packs, now I just gotta settle on what I wanna make.

I finally managed to get my hands on a foil borderless Terra, Magical Adept, and I'm going to go all-in trying to break her.
I've been seeing talk about her being a Food Chain commander, but I'm too stupid to see the line, since she doesn't reduce her cost, or gain more fodder like a Prossh
I'm guessing it's a case of hard mulligan to hit the Squee/FC, and the means to search out the other part, then you just spend all the mana self-milling yourself with her ETB to hit the breach line?

>>95880278I've never been sure really how Food Chain commanders work.
I know you can get infinite mana from Terra if you can find one of the ways to get more counters on her saga side when it enters or to give it read ahead plus a haste enabler. Or any enchantment to copy the back without the copy being legendary so that it can copy the copy and keep getting the mana. Though you do have to have the mana to transform it on hand in any case.
>>95876264Nothing printed in Time Spiral Block was a mistake.
>>95876409It'd have to be WWE. Macho Man, Triple H and Undertaker definitely get cards. But there's no way WOTC would ever cross those streams.

>>95880342The back side of Terra is irrelevant for Food Chain/cedh purposes. You get the infinite mana through Squee, recast Terra until your deck is milled out, recur Thoracle, and cast it to win.

As far as hobbies go, even a lot of tabletop hobbies, magic honestly isn't that expensive. Hell even a $10k cedh or legacy deck isn't that bad compared to some of my other hobbies.
>>95880792do you periodically buy lathes or something?
>>95880797Like for woodworking? I have a small woodshop but nothing major, maybe a few grand in tools and wood from past projects. Fishing eats up a good chunk between the gear, license, gas, boat. A buddy got into Warhammer and I know they also have the proxy debate. Disc golf isn't that expensive but kitting your bag with 25ish $20-30 disc's and a $200 bag adds up. Video games can be fairly expensive depending on what you're on even

>>95880792What the fuck? That's absurdly expensive for most hobbies, including tabletop. Are all whales this unaware?
>>95881031What hobbies do you have that don't add up to thousands after a few years?
>>95880883My lgs is like this, occasionally with a door prize.
They also do draft for 15 (FF is 21) with prize support and generally sell stuff for msrp unless it will obviously cause them trouble (someone buying a precon and turning around and selling them singles), but I think that's because they also sell comics, books, manga, gunpla, records, board games, warhammer, d&d and accoutrements. And food. So they're not hurting as much from terrible mtg margins.
I kinda wonder if it's just mtg or if other hasbro stuff also has awful margins.
>>95881031Man you want to see expensive hobbies try looking at music shit some time. Ever since Covid hit everything sky rocketed in price.
>>95881124Graphics card prices still suck

>>95881129Everything electronic basically. Some โconvenientโ semi-conductor factory fires during that time too.
>>95881149Lots of "convenient" things happened that year
>>95881092Given other Hasbro stuff loses the company money and WotC are the only thing making them money, I think they donโt care about the other margins at this point. As for LGS, mine is somewhat similar minus the comics, manga, and Warhammer (do records though and have gotten a few as gifts for people). Main thing Iโve noticed they do differently is you can usually buy most cards for 10% less than the average price and will pay anywhere between 10% to 20% more for chase cards, particularly from newer sets and during pre-releases, but they also charge more than average for those too. E.g. for FF pre-release I snagged a second Cloud, Midgar mercenary for $27 dollarydoos (in addition to my pre-release promo one), but they were selling the full-art foil Vivi someone sold them the previous day for near $500 and a full-art Sephiroth Fabled SOLDIER for $250 (the one with the VII behind him). Went there a few days later and both were gone along with most of their other display FF singles. They also broke street date early and had sold out of all non-pre-release product (pre-release kits + 2 participation FF boosters) within a few days.
>>95880792the total cost i've spent on all of my hobbies combined doesn't even reach $7k, and apparently $10k on a single deck isn't expensive? the amount of cope you whales huff to justify your spending is genuinely insane.
>>95881066Not him but reading, playing instruments, editing videos, exercising, hiking, drawing, animal stuff, playing TCGs like a normal person, fishing, television. All cheaper.
>>95880792A lot of those other hobbies are offering much more than curly cardboard. Rifle companies don't offer gun hobbyists completely fucked quality

I was tempted by the full art foil legends in the bundle but, man...
If a kid could print out a deck and pilot it to victory, that means there is something wrong with the game
Soulless bug persons who spent ungodly amounts of money or their tier 5 decks will never admit to the game being bad because they need others to also spend ungodly amounts of money so they can have imaginary dick fights and feel valid about having spent so much money on useless pieces of cardboard
