Thread Question:
Are you guys actually enjoying yourselves with this or should you really need to cut it out of your life?
>TQ
I probably should cut it out. I donโt even have a whole army painted, I just like to shit post here and shit stir in Aos most of the time. The later is more fun.
>>95880513 (OP)>tqi find myself smiling often in my hobbywork and the painting and imbuing of animation into poses of static models intimately cross-pollenates with my other creative doings
besides that it has given an excellent basis against which to learn all about proonting and that's hugely empowering and instructive and will be further elaborated upon with other doings
feels good man
>>95880513 (OP)>Thread Question:>Are you guys actually enjoying yourselves with this or should you really need to cut it out of your life?I do not play HH but I love tabletop wargaming and enjoy it on the regular. Or did. Gaming buddy had his hours change and we've not played in four weeks now. It is dire enough that I was looking at hitting up the LGS to play 40k/AoS/ToW/HH with randoms to get my fix.
>>95880056It sounds like a winner to me. The batreps really made it sound like 3-4e 40k which was my start in the hobby. Less people trying to WAAC and more fun battles being waged. I also noticed a surprising lack of named characters being in the game. I had expected a Primarch in every army - similar to how 10e 40k seems to be these days, but mostly I think a lot of the characters I have seen are just heroes/leaders with player made names and titles. Very cool stuff all in all.
>>95880225Good to know, thank you Anon. HH honestly reminds me of the OPR/Grimdark Future community. Less people trying to play competitive meta and more people just wanting to play what looks cool and making stories. Which is something I love.
>>95880372Thank you, I am going to look further into HH for sure. I regret not being able to get one of the old starter boxes now.
>>95880513 (OP)TQ: Bold of you to assume I get any enjoyment out of life, anon.
I do this to distract myself from the malaise I feel day to day in life, and even so I'm looking at picking up a new hobby to help with that. I kind of want to learn how to sew so I can actually create something without having too much space dedicated, but I don't know where to start, so for now I stick to painting toy soldiers to occupy my bored mind.
>>95880513 (OP)>Are you guys actually enjoying yourselves with this or should you really need to cut it out of your life?I'm on the fence but currently leaning towards cutting the game from my life. The game and setting are getting more and more flanderized as time progresses. Sure, I can do models without games, but I only have so much bandwidth as I grow older.
>>95880513 (OP)>TQ This game is my only positive in person social interaction outside of work, I think cutting out would be unhealthier.

>>95880606There's no escape
MEGA anon here, account I used to host the folder got murked. Gotta make a new one and re-host, should be done after I get home from work tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience.
>>95880513 (OP)Painting has turned into a major chore. I need to play more often.
>>95880613Thanks, Anon.
Maybe let it cool for a week or two to keep the po-po off your back. We could drop a gofile on request if people desperately need something.
>>95880557For the most part, I don't think the primarchs are great force multipliers, they're just the best beat sticks in the game. In my experience people are very particular about primarchs showing up only for lore accurate battles, with big events even having a sign up sheet to make sure only one of any particular primarch is at the event. They cost a lot of points too, so you kind of get locked in to building your list around delivering them to melee, where in 2.0 they risk getting tied up in a challenge. I much prefer spending my points on more tanks
>>95880621Yeah I'm kind of thinking the same thing. I assume the constant takedowns are due to
>increased thread traffic>GW being more paranoid due to leaks>new edition brinigng increased scrutiny in generalMight be worthwhile to let it hang for a bit and let the heat die down. Unless people are in desperate need for content.
>>95880648With the rules changing soon I can't imagine people really needing to clamber for 2.0's rules and probably anyone here can drop a link for a Black Book. Just kick your feet up for a bit or you're gonna have to do this all again in a week.
>>95880648If there is a compiled PDF, I'd like that before you pack it up so I don't have to keep scrolling through pictures. I'm also unsure if I have all the leaked pages.
Regardless, the absolute faggots who keep reporting should be aware that you don't get any rewards for bootlicking the soulless billion dollar company.
>>95880613MEGA Anon have you got the novels/audiobooks, and when you choose to bring the MEGA back online could you please add them in there?
>>95880648probably a mix of the three
>>95880665I don't have any auidobooks or even really novels on my PC, sorry. I do however have it on good authority that one of the warhammer generals on one of the NSFW boards has a big repo of them. That's all I'll say.
>>95880661To be honest I'm not sure I have all the leaked pages at this point, I kind of stopped grabbing them since the leaker was posting while I was at work a few times.
Regardless I think I'll take this as an opportunity to do this whole thing properly, and set up several new burner accounts and pre-stage everything so I can more quickly swap things out if and when it gets taken down again. For now though, I think I'll wait a week minimum since either the 40kg trolls reporting the repo or GW itself probably has a pretty low attention span.
>>95880690>that picjesus christ I don't think I've ever been able to visualize someone so vividly out of an avatar image before. Thanks for all your hard work, MegAnon, we're so grateful.
>>95880696Nah it's all good on my end man. Realistically, nuking the burner account I use is about the worst they can do to me, God bless those mad bastards in NZ that made that site. It's just an annoyance and introduces chaos into the thread since the OP will have to keep changing out the links.
Hopefully GW will forget about this place after a while, personally I think the leaks originating from here is what pissed them off.
>>95880613Who seriously patrols this forum and reports this to GW? Does GW legitimately sit in these threads and scours for this shit? Iโm genuinely curious. We are barely a blip on the radar, unless Iโm missing something?
Can someone explain to me custodes toxic sense of superiority. I understand it in 40k since it's their cope and hatred for space marines because they failed their only job of keeping emps alive, but before the siege and even the heresy most custods have juszt been wrtitten to aloof cunts, with the few exceptions.
>>95880742Sure. Someone might make a report to be a dick so they can feel some molecule of pleasure. Some guy might get a chip on his shoulder over nothing and take it out on someone else.
4chan isn't as obscure as we'd like it to think, especially when it's been proven how much this place can act as advertisement for its population.
>>95880665NTA but I found them on 1337x, tonnes of novels (not many audiobooks though)
>>95880749Custodes are the closest thing Emps has to "friends" (well, after Malcador), they saw what Emps did to the Thudner Warriors. and they Know SM are the same kind of disposable tools who will be used and thrown away after the conquering is done
>>95880749They hate the marines whom they see as incompetent and destructive for their beloved lord's great plan, and they also killed all the thunder warriors for not much different reasons. Hell a lot of the custodes during the heresy were probably there when the thunder warriors were killed off.
>>95880756>Emperor we have conqured the known galaxy, vanquished chaos and purge the space marines and primarchs>Why are you saying face the wall?
>>95880613Considering they most likely got interested in 3.0 leaks you can just put 3.0 photos on imgur or gofile without account and put this on top as 3.0, and remade old mega with 1.0, 2.0 and titanicus/ligma.
When GW nuked /40kg/ mega I just uploaded all 10th ed codexes I could find to gofile and somehow it's still active and in OP despite being 1,5 year old.
And remaking imgur or gofile link is easy and require no account.
>>95880742I'm really not sure. Personally I think it's just trolls from 40kg or whatever. The first takedown was issued before leakeranon started doing his thing, so that was not what started it. Probably just a product of the increased traffic in the thread and the new edition. Also like
>>95880754 said don't think we're sitting in some hidden corner of the internet anymore, /tg/ might be one of the slower, smaller boards but 4chan is still well-known and /tg/ in particular is basically a containment board for 40k anyways.
My personal conspiracy theory is that it's the guy who sperg'd out over the spelling of Legions Imperialis doing it, since the first time it got takedown'd was like, less than a day after I changed the spelling of the MEGA folder to fuck with him.
>>95880776Sounds interesting. Haven't looked into it but I'll check it out in the meantime. Might use it as an emergency backup I can throw in the thread if needed, or maybe more if I like it. Will check back tomorrow.
>>95880749Well to put it bluntly they are superior to marines, straight up. It's not toxic sense of superiority, they know they are superior.
Also they are Emperor's personal legion, his personal bodyguards. Custodes are first gene-engineered warriors created by Emperor and each is custom made, unlike mass produced astartes or even lower quality produced thunder warriors.
Also any time there was problem within Imperium it was caused by marines or primarch.
>>95880777More likely as 3.0 leaked some GW supervisor wanted his underlings to take action so they had to act like they were doing something. In between editions who gives a fuck if the rules are floating in the web but when they're still supposed to be secret and everything now people gotta pretend they care.
>>95880782Oh and I forgot, found some more titanicus terminals, some new and I think 1 or 2 old but updated with additional weapon cards.

>>95880805You're a real one. Thanks.
>>95880805Thank you, my dude
>>95880777Are you changing the files so the checksum is different? Once you get popped if you just upload the same thing over again it is so easy to detect and remove it.
>I should start playing HH
>The Iron Warriors a cool!
>No, actually the Mechanicum!
>I mean AL
>I mean Imperial Fists
>I mean Solar Auxilia
>I meam Dark Angels
>I mean WE
How the fuck do you pick?
>>95880897Just think of reasons why they're lame, and the one that you struggle most with you go with that.
>>95880897What colors do you WANT to paint.
IF might be cool (they're not but they might be) but painting yellow is a pain if you're not ready for it. Meanwhile AL might not be as cool as terminators with shields and spears but painting metallic teal is pretty bitchin'.
>>95880897"This one looks coolest."
Harder if you like the look of DA, IH or RG tacs the most, I guess.
>>95880920>>95880926It's a case of
>IW scheme isb baller, and just look at those Tyrants!>But IF have all the Templar stuff, and awesome characters...>Mechanicum robots are amazing! A shame the game is marine-centric...>I love Veletaris! But I'mnot gping to paint 200 of them...>Heresy DA colors are great... and so are thw winged helmets...>Oh but look ar Exodus! And look at Sevatar! So on and so forth.
>>95880950Just pick one. The one that sings to you the most. Paint a model.
If you decide you don't like it repaint it in one of the others.
I thought I wanted to do a UM army because I like the look, but didn't like it when I painted it, so moth balled it. Now they're inductii for my AL..
>>95880950Through praveians and Forge Lords you can get mech bots in a marine army easy. Overlords let you pack some lasrifle auxilia in so it's not like you'll never have a reason to paint those guys up.
If you can't decide on a legion build a list and think of which legion it fits the most. It's not like you're ever going to stop.
>>95880791>Also any time there was problem within Imperium it was caused by marines or primarchSuch is the cost of being cooler
>>95880513 (OP)>Are you guys actually enjoying yourselves with this or should you really need to cut it out of your life?I was at the event in the OP, it was pretty fun. I hate getting in arguments with people online about the game; there's a lot of people who have the "trying to win the game is badwrongfun" attitude, and it makes discussions about balance almost impossible.
early mockup of a saturnine with two guns!
>>95881007That's a mockery alright
>>95880897I wish I knew enough about 30k to justify a mixed world eater/ thousand son army.
>>95881016Simple Anon, your justification is "because I want to"
Also it's funny how TS are more down with WE than they are with SW and DG.
>>95880987I didn't get around to building it before the end of 2.0, but I had a list drawn up for IW that was nearly 1/4 robots.
>>95881016They're both traitor legions so it takes very little justification to having them fight together
>>95881037Anon I will literally abandon 4chan, my models, my hobby, get my shit together and get a girlfriend and a mortgage before I encourage someone to play and paint Iron Warriors.
Play Alpha Legion or Dark Angels, you dullard.
>>95881046>Spray Leadbelcher>Cover in nuln oilI hate them too but they are honestly the easiest to paint
>>95881056The leadbelcher spray is ass and comes out more grey than metallic. Just black/iron warrior basecoat with a flatbrush and then nuln+leadbelcher drybrush and learn how to do chevrons.
still playing with the ERA placement and the right balance of 'busy' but this thicc boi is almost done

>>95881080The large flat plates on the sides feel like the obvious spots. Roof not so much, unless you're expecting... mortar fire?
>>95881088good call, I'll try that. Wanna put some smoke launchers on the sides too
Fellblades can get 2 pintle mounted weapons. It would be cool to make a mount over some of the stowage and turret next to the commander's hatch and put a heavy bolter tarantula on top like a remote weapons station.
>>95881085nta, but bro what are you on about? Ive never had an issue with the leadbelcher spray and it NEVER came out looking like it was just gray.
>>95881046Good news, my main army is Alphas.
>>95881103I've never had it come out grey, but I've given up on LB spray because I never have anything stick to it properly.
>>95881080absolutely nucking futs
which legion will it belong to?
maybe bearers judging by the boi with horns in the back?
>>95881107Another successful AL psyop
>>95880513 (OP)I find painting miniatures a very pleasant activity and I enjoy looking at the results of my labour. I'll reserve judgement for the 3rd edition once I've actually played it.
>>95881128thanks dude. its totally off brand, but I'm doing spooky traitor scars. have bunch of old models intended for an IW project. this is the only way they'll ever get paint
>>95881112Are you trying to spray in like 100% humidity? I did all my Legions Imperialis DarkMech spiders with it and it worked fine.
>>95881230Are those Kruleboy bits?
>>95881252lol yep. lotta WS guys go full weeb but mine are more like heavy metal barbarians
>>95881277Kruleboyz are a good move for WS, can't wait to see these fully painted.
>TQ
It is one of the good things in life: ebbs and flows, but tends to settle in a comfortable place after GW moves on other projects.
>>95881230oh my goodness that's absolutely wicked, love it to death
and those are some d o t e d boys holy shit pewter jump rigs? excellent
oh man i see a corpse grinder bit in there too i butchered that kit to fuck with my eater shits and made scouts out of them
it can be worked around surely and your dudes are so gloriously faultless in part because of them, but how do you reckon bigass topknots work with regards to jump pack intakes that are ostensibly sort of going to draw them in?
super duper fibres that can play in and around the grilles without issue couple with a space marine's monstrous physiology and armour making them essentially no hinderance?
it's something i came up against in doing some of my guys but opted for sticking with static horns on the pertinent models even though a few are able to rock jetpacks with bigass capes alongside
edna weeps, i laugh <3
>>95880897IDK, roll for dubs in here and see what you get. Or put the ones you want in a lottery and see what you get. If you're disappointed, you didn't want that one.
Or pick a Legion & Allies.
>>95881230honestly this just proves what annoys me with so many "loyalist traitor" armies. it seems like almost every project where someone converts a loyalist army, they are usually able to add to the aesthetic of the army generally well with these being basically techno barbarians. When people reverse traitor legions into loyalists, they only ever remove traits from the army, ie night lords with the flayed skin and skulls removed. It's lame, especially when you pass it off as a big challenge or something. Come on, make them do something cool instead of being darker bog standard marines
>>95881426>night lords with the flayed skin and skulls removed. That's more of a problem with the concept of Loyalist night lords being pants on head retarded. The only thing worse is Loyalist word bearers.
>>95881426as a friend of mine says 'loyalists are boring'
Traitor Ultramarines but they're based on Roman populists such as Cataline.
>>95881476What would be their reason to be traitors? Ultramarines were led decently by one of the primarchs who wasn't a psychotic manchild.
>>95881443Nah thereโs plenty of room for loyal nl especially with how many would be mad at Konrad for randomly exterminating nostramo. Theres multiple nl in the books that are/ would be loyalists. The issue is making them darker ultramarines
>>95881491>Guilliman being pants on head retarded throughout most of the heresy>Having some world being generally fucked over by how ultramar is run>Randomly chaos corrupted>terran born like 99% of the traitors in loyal legionsTake your pick
>>95880897Play shattered legions
>:)
>>95881244Nope, done it in the middle of summer, 40c day and it's the same.
The spray itself comes out perfectly, it's just putting anything on top of it. Tried with multiple different cans of it, too.
>>95881518Have you tried colorforge sprays?
>>95881545Will approve here. I use their sanguine red during floridas current wet and hot season for wb. Great sprays, no issue with mine
>>95881491traitor is relative to the imperium and does not have to be chaos aligned. imperium secundus is traitorous in a way, the 2nd edition rulebook specifically calls out the UM traitor WL trait as feeling their loyalty should be more to their own worlds instead of the imperium as a whole.
Newfag lurker here
I played 5e most back in the day, was my start and 1e KT a couple times recently. 10e 40k seems gay as shit. I borrowed a 3e codex to play with a coworker soon, rules feels like home but i wanna expand to play more for all this fuckin work ive done and Heresy seems better barring no Xenos to kill
My questions:1) are people big fags about not having Legion colors? My Dudes are a BA successor chapter so Im playing by their rules
2) are they fags about modern units? I was going by Rule of Cool for making them so i got mostly Beakies, but some classic 90s Marines with a couple nuhammer sized guys (a captain, jump chaplain and the BT Castellan)
3) are Rhinos a thing? Read conflicting stuff so far
4) whatโs the average points for games? 2k?
Pictured are my done guys. About 40 some Tac with Sgts, one melta. 6 Death Company, termie Chaplain, Castellan as Techmarine. I also got 10 more Tactical, a boxnaught, a Rhino and Deathwing Knights Iโm ripping all the DA stuff off. Might get some Scouts to round out. My goal was to make an entire 1st company, non-codex so not a straight 100
>>95881443>traitor night lords being pants on head retardedLoyalist doesn't mean they're good guys, it just means they ended up on the other side of the war. Loyalist night lords would totally keep the flayed skins and skulls.
>>95881491Their motivation would be to carve out a kingdom of their own, since the ultramarines are politicians at heart. Either because your guy believes he can run a more utopian society than the emperor, or because he believes Horus would let him rule with an iron fist.
>>95881426The best inversions for either traitors or loyalists aren't about adding or subtracting, but about playing up certain aspects of the legion's existing character. Part of the reason why loyalists turning bad can be so interesting is because your answer for why they did it can lead to so many different armies, like maybe your Raven Guard were consumed by hatred after the massacre and Khorne took them as his own. For the traitors turned loyalist though, we pretty much already know what they'd be like since it'll likely be the same as pre-heresy. It's not a question of adding or taking away, it's just that one has more freedom.
>>95881572Yeah, most people prefer their games of Horus Heresy to be set in the Horus Heresy, so they want the armies to be period-appropriate. That said, you and your coworker could easily use the rules to represent any space marine on space marine wars.
>>958815721. if you're not bothering to paint your army in the legion you're playing them as, why should anyone bother playing you?
2. if you're bothered to play heresy units, why should anyone bother playing you?
3. yes
4. 3k is the standard
additional tip, throw all that trash in the bin and get proper heresy minis
>>95881496I was literally going to hop in here to ask about loyalist night lords. My idea is more that they focus on justice and have them be Judge Jury and Executioner and just extremely upset in general. They don't like how a bunch of criminals are being recruited into their ranks, but they also don't like how Curze handled the situation. I was going to say they probably avoid the drop site, but in truth they probably go under the same reasons the rest of the legion went, but once the killing begins they find it disgusting because by all means they should be in their element out numbering and overwhelming their enemies, but they don't agree with the situation. There is no justice, so they do what any true night lord would do: flee. It's not like the traitor fleets would turn their guns on them, and they could simply lie and claim to be chasing prey.
>>95881491Pride and ambition.
There's a traitor UM warlord trait that explicitly says that there were Ultramarines who left the imperium because they wanted more power.
Guilliman himself tried to establish his own imperium.
>>95881572>1 your colors are fine since youโre using red. Various companies in heresy use different heraldry and have some color variation though you donโt see stuff like blue blood angels. They absolutely would hang you from the rafters for using primaris though(indomidus terminators donโt really count here since itโs just an upscale of the old kit and not an armor variant of the og)>2 people care more about armor mks than unit types from 40K. As long as those characters arenโt in mkx armor, theyโre just consuls in artificer armor. All armor mks were available throughout the heresy outside of mk7 which is the 40K firstborn tactical marine kit. Mk7 only really was around for the siege of terra>3 rhinos are a thing in heresy. Easy cheap extra mobility for characters or support squads>4 depends on your group but generally 1k is iffy, 2k is fine, 3k is the sweet spot for most games. Some units are limited in armies, meaning you literally canโt use them unless your army has a minimum of exactly 2k points in it. No 1999 points
>>95880513 (OP)>TQheresy for me has always been just a side project to tinker with after reading one of the books. I read A Thousand Sons so got BoP and chinkcast Osiron and Castellax to paint up. Then it was Vnegeful Spirit so I did AoD up in SoH colours. Read Fulgrim after and got a small IH collection and now I've read Betrayer I'm going to do Saturnine up as WE. The rules have always been secondary and frankly have always been shit, 7th ed was hardly a benchmark of quality after all. I'll try the 3.0 ruleset out but I'm mostly here for Mk2 and upscaled cata.
>>95881491You could have a group that defected during Imperium Secundus either believing Guilliman is in the wrong or the Emperor is already dead
>>95881618General idea is fine but the whole โnl are cowardsโ thing is a meme that comes from 40K warbands of nl being generally smaller. Theyโre not gonna run at an enemy and die when they have an entire tactical doctrine thatโs more effective
>>95881505terrans were loyalists pretty much by default retard, literally the only time they weren't is in the RG because Corax was so shit they remembered their time with Horus fondly.
>>95881639I know they're not really cowards. That's just how everyone sees them because they would rather retreat to find a better angle than stand and fight.

>>95881873>40c is too hotnot that anon, but sometimes you can't help the weather.
It doesn't matter the temp or humidity when you spray, so long as you've shaken it enough, don't spray in direct sunlight, and use flicking motions so that you don't spray too think you'll be golden.
I was taught that method and have never run intop any problems, even with old GW white spray.
>>95881884I live in California and if I spray when it's too hot out it'll dry on the way to the model and create this rough texture that sucks to paint. Paint when its too cold and it drips off and doesn't cover correctly. The tolerances are a bit wider than they say on the can, though, especially on the high end. But shaking is essential. Warming the can up helps too.
>>95880513 (OP)>TQYes
Will finish regular praetor today as well
>>95881901you can spray with the nozzle only 5 inches away from the model if it is very hot out, just keep the can moving side to side and do quick passes. Same if you heat the can up.

if you getting that chalky texture makes sure you shaking the shit out of you paint always spraying in the shade so the paint doesn't dry mid way to the model.

New edition I'm planning a coalition of White Scars and Space Wolves with a big lean into the spiritual aspect of them. Stormseer and his Dark Sons of Death form the wind, Caster of Runes with the Deathsworn pack form the ice on the ground. The idea is a watch pack were sent pre Nikea to a Brotherhood to check out the weathermakers and report back. Both psykers know what the other is and neither really trusts the other, but they respect that the other is polite enough to pretend they're just shamans to everyone else.
They weren't at Prospero or Chondax, they don't know who is lying, they can't contact either legion and they both fear that their legions will be on opposite sides of the conflict. They may end up as Blackshields by the end

Remember,if you don't like Saturnine or the dread, you can just not buy/use them
>>95883964Please, King Garbage was my father. Call me Asmongold.
They should make something for marines thatโs a middle ground for the average marine and a satruine.
>>95883996That's called a terminator Bill
>>95883979That's not enough. I don't want other people to use them either
>>95883736They will with how popular exemplary battle units are and 30k still being a collection based game. Also considering new units not having dedicated kits like the command and control instructing you to poach rapier crew, and official pics of saturnine praetors converted to a command squad, I'm not worried. If anything many of these units would be very easy to transfer over.
>>95884023I will be fielding a full squad of 6 saturnine terminators with two twin heavy disintegrators each for my Dark Angels, and there is nothing you can do to stop me.
>>95884032I'll be doing the same just in squads of 5 because my autism demands all foot soldiers be deployed in multiples of such
>>95884035Just swap the shoulders and guns.
>>95884047Hopefully there's saturnine centurions to enable just that
>>95882453awww shucks, appreciate you man. 3.0 looks groggy as fuck, and since grog rhymes with prog, I'm hitting that chogorian peyote again
>>95883996They should make something for custodes that is between saturnine and a dreadnought.
>>95883871they are ugly but i don't hate them as much as before because the article imply they are exosuits since marines have to "pilot" it.
>>95884035each one of these things I take gives me 2 free detachments?
>>95884146Do you think the marine's head sits inside the helmet, or is it just a head-shaped camera?
>>95884035Funny to think about how these were made in the transitional era before Primaris
>>95884035>Olympia-pattern Saturnine armour
>>95884146Between the GK babycarrier, 40k cunturions, those retarded SoB exosuits, and the primarshit titanfall rip-off, Saturnine is the best looking exo-suit GW has made yet. Which wasn't a high bar to clear, lol.
So, the current article confirmed Saturnine is an exo suit (you can see the leg pistons)...but they don't tell us where the actual marine legs sit inside the frame
>>95884032>two twin heavy disintegratorsOh shit watch out he's bringing the S4โS5 guns!
>>95884146Problem is this isn't saturnine exo suit but saturnine terminator armour.
They wanted 30k version of centurions but had no balls to make new stuff so they made pretend terminators.
i watched dredd with my little brother i'm so fckn giddy.

>>95884407Somewhere around here.
>>95884443I'm leaning towards it being a "pilot is curled up inside the torso" situation. Then again, they mention the pilots need to have a high cybertheurgy(sp?) resistance, so maybae it means they amputate all their limbs and replace them with USB ports
What are the chances my new army(Militia) gets squatted before I can even finish building it anons? Be honest.
>>95884496Probably none. Not even the new armor marks for marines make it so you can't use your old models. They still have resin upgrades for old units.
>>95884496100%
Just start making it as SA with Penal Cohort like I did.

>thanatar-cavas loses barrage on the plasma mortar because quite frankly, that shit was overpowered, especially with plasma wave
>lol lets give it to the saturnine terminators though
thanatar better have barrage again or I swear to fucking god
>>95884407>>95884443>>95884480the legs are ball-jointed at the hips as models but either the head is way lower down than the exterior helmet or there's nothing in the legs; they couldn't fit internally and perform even this modest pose if the head is where the helmet is; likewise the arms can't include the arms of the pilot if the head is where the helmet is, but just as the fingers of a space marine can't possibly be inside the fingers of a terminator's power fist, that doesn't really mean much
I think what's being missed in these discussions is that Terminators of all types are tactical dreadnought armour - these guys are mini-dreadnoughts who just happen to be further down the dreadnought route than most terminators
with 40k Centurions we know where the legs are really positioned and that it's a step-in mecha upgrade to power armour, but necessarily the pilot's arms aren't inside the Centurion suit's arms and may be simply folded in front of him like a genie; but Centurion legs also have a huge fire-trap when they bend their knees for walking (implied on most but visible on one of them), and the angles are not quite right for Fatties to be able to fit an unbroken leg in to have the pilot's knees at the suit's hips, particularly considering the range of motion necessary to raise the suit's thighs under those conditions
they're Silent Running it guys
>>95884407Nope, it said that terminator suits were based on exo suit tech.
>>95884662We use ball joints in real life suits.
>>95884554Nah, the limbs are clearly supposed to be artificial. His arm would have to be inside the plasma gun
>>95884662>the legs are ball-jointed at the hips
If you kept the helmet out and replaced it with an AI dome it would probably look better.
>>95884727The arms are also connected to the torso much lower. All fixable details.
>>95884701article said that marines have to pilot it.
>>95884718That man is clearly a quadruple amputee and/or curled inside the chest
what do (You) suppose the initialmost saturnine template was actually designed towards the ends of?
is this the pattern in particular that had its basis in live plasma reactor maintenance, given that as best i understand the wording around indomitus suits in the legacies PDF pretty explicitly much says they're a product of the heresy?
>>95884853I think the original designs were 90% of what we have here, Vulkan just figured out how to mass produce them. Probably through new alloys, maybe some reshapedcomponents for ease of manufacture.
As for their purpose, I imagine these are the true tactical dreads. Meaning big fuckoff mechsuit without needing a readily available cripple. "Normal" termies are much closer to heavy boarding suits than actual dreads

>>95884853Nobody fucking knows, not even the people writing this shit.
>>95884701Exo-suits mixed with power armor.
>>95884853Probably for plasma reactors. In built teleporting makes sense to go inside active reactors. Needing to open an access door must require time and safety protocols. Bypassing then while the reactor is live would affect any sort of stasis field. If you can teleport in you access the deeper parts and perform ongoing or emergency maintenance on the fly.
>>95885011>marines had terminator armour before MkII>in a time when interstellar travel was nigh impossible, there was enough exo-suits designed for interstellar travel around to weaponize on Terra
>>95885038Don't think it's ever said to be a live reactor, just that there's high pressure (and probably still heat and other hazards) inside the reactors even when shut down. And we have ways of getting inside active nuclear reactors without having to open up the whole thing, so a hatch into a plasma reactor doesn't seem out of the question either.
>>95884659That's not how it works, militia and thralls lost access to fearless but blackshields can do that shit army-wide.
>>95885058>retard forgot about the entire 20k years of interstellar travel before 30k that necessitated exo suits
>>95885058STCs from the DAoT. Power Armor alone uses dozens of STC patterns, it's not unreasonable Mars had Exo Suit STCs that were combined with power armor STCs to make Saturnine Terminator suits.
>>95885090The article today said "reactor leaks" so the exo suit side of things was likely a self contained hazardous environment suit they slapped armour plates on top of.
>>95885345>retard thinks Terra maintained now useless suits for interstellar travel for thousands of years during the Age of Strife>>95885362STCs were for colonies that has no access to the industrial base and knowledge of the core worlds. Why would there be STCs on Mars and Terra?
>>95885395Holy fucking shit anon, are you new or just a complete and utter fucking retard? Where do you think a lot of STCs were made? Never heard of the countless expeditions into ancient vaults beneath the martian surface in an effort to recover STCs, with one of the most famous techno-archaeologists venturing there being Arkan Land? Or are you trolling?
>>95885038It made ever more sense if you consider that OG marines rarely used drop ships because it was for pesants and marines mostly just teleported everywhere, including from monastery to ships and from ships to combat.
Later teleportarium got fluff that it's dangerous to use etc.
Imagine being downgraded from teleporting anywhere to having one way ticket to ground in form of drop pod.
>>95885395>why would Mars and Terra have STCsDid you think where those STCs originally came from? Why would you not keep back ups to make your copies from to give to your colonies?
>>95885414No, I'm pretty sure he's just that fucking stupid.
>>95885414Point is, why would all technology from Mars and Terra be limited to just STCs, rather than all the wealth of knowledge that they had? The technology on Terra and Mars was not built using an STC, the STC a wikipedia of human knowledge given to colonists venturing out with limited resources while the true wealth of knowledge if housed at the core worlds. Theyre a powerful top of the line piece of gear which is rare due to production difficulties and which will subsequently be made lost technology during the war due to said difficulties. Vulcan made a couple crates of suits, gave them out to people and then he proceeded to get curbstomped at istvann and they stopped making more.

But the XIIth didn't participate in the Luna engagement while the VIIth did, and they're described on p81 of Betrayal as "clad in suit-sealed armour"

>>95885669Like I just dot get it, they literally state that this shit proved so difficult to manufacture that it would have been entirely forgotten if not for vulcan finding a way to make it remotely usable right before the war broke out. And on top of being the terminator equivalent of those US stealth bombers this shit requires very specialized pilots. How is this some major new element which would have defined the war? Rather than just yet another rare superweapon the imperium will expend its entire stockpile of during the rebellion (like volkite weapons, phosphex, sicarans, the kratos tank, leviathans, deredeos and so on)?
Haven't been keeping up with the previews, do we know anything about the big dread?

were lascannon predators simply stumbled upon again in the context of 40k whereas they were present outright during the heresy?
>>95885808Bigness asides, they also kind of just steal the leviathans "thing".
The leviathan is the big heavy dread, slow, tanky, big guns. Whats the saturnine going to do different? Movement 4? Toughness 9?
>>95885814Old lore no, new lore yes.
>>95885814Whatever bullshit GW likes to pull out of their ass to justify making their toys.
>>95885639Read Rise of the Dark Mechanicum. The only reason they traitors stood a chance was because there was Alpha Legion already on Mars. I don't play LIgma but there's lore youtubers who summarize it, you can get it there.
>>95885584So you are telling me there was this super secret super terminator armour, that despite being super old and dating back to earliest days of crusade was only issued when heresy started?
Wow it's like if GW suddenly made super secret titan that was bigger than other titans but also was super secret that nobody knew about until heresy started and it was turned against imperial and traitor forces.
If such things existed I'm sure it would be handy during Rangada.
>>95885656Well obviously, since Custodes are to Space Marines as Space Marines are to normal humans. That's the army I play anyway.
>>95885680The point system is only useful if it represents the narrative. The narrative is going to be marines triumphing over other armies; have you read the books, secondary?
>>95885814They retconned them in for second edition.
When the annihilator came out the story was that the Space Wolves Long Fangs randomly stuck their lascannons on top of a predator to defeat the Iron Warriors and then the tech priests looked at it and went "hey this was actually always allowed".
In HH they just added them.
>>95885829>that despite being super old and dating back to earliest days of crusade was only issued when heresy started? No, the saturnine armor saw use long before that, it was just phased out because it was impractical as standard equipment.
>While Saturnine Terminators saw extensive action in the early battles of the Great Crusade, it was so difficult to manufacture that it was quickly supplanted by other patterns. This likely would have been the end of the story for Saturnine armour, were it not for Vulkan, Primarch of the XVIII Legion. Vulkan simply found a way to make some more
>Vulkan sought to unlock Saturnineโs secrets to enable full-scale production of this vaunted armour. Where no-one else had succeeded, the master artificer triumphed โ and by his hand, the secrets of manufacturing his masterwork was provided to his brother Primarchs.
>>95885863We need more SW tank conversions.
>>95885814So you see space wolves, first founding chapter one of those that alongside second founding still have equipment from crusade, direct records, traditions dating back to crusade and in case of wolves venerable dreadnought who was alive and remembers crusade and heresy, somehow didn't have lascannon predator, well none of them had, so while space wolves needed anti tank firepower they duck taped lascannons to predator tank, it was effective so they started doing it factory and not with duck tape, other chapters liked this new idea and soon followed by producing their own lascannon predators. Mechanicus wasn't happy because there was no lascannon predator in registry, they had some super obscure superheavy tanks they no longer could produce, some one off vehicles but not predator with autocannon swapped for lascannon and were super salty that wollves did unsantioned field modification that was not following sacred guidelines. After some centuries some magos finally found evidence that maybe possibly dark age of technology predator STC had possibility to mount lascannons, so Mechanicus dropped the issue.
Now it turns out that marines extensivly used lascannon predators during great crusade and horus heresy, it was easy solution really, just take common predator tank and mount lascannon on it, but somehow technology such as this was lost technology after heresy despite marines still having lascannons and predator tanks unlike fellblades, sicarian, volkites etc that requires specialised manufacturing instead of kitbashing 2 compatible things.
>>95885829It wasn't super secret. The Legions just had largely stopped using it because it was available in too few numbers and thus not useful to them when other more easily mass produced versions were more available. Vulcan apparently backwards engineered the tech though and figured out how to mass produce it and gifted a bunch to all the legions because he was being a bro, then the Heresy happened.
Like sure it's being crammed in a bit having it handed out right before the Heresy starts but it fits into the setting just fine honestly.
>>95885905I miss when lascannons were secondary weapons on tanks, main weapons for transports, and modifications when nothing better was available (like LR Annihilators being used when Vanquisher cannons couldn't be sourced).
>>95882775>Super rare valuable armour piloted bt equally valuable best of the best elite vets>Both of its weapons canexplode and destroy the armour and kill the marineSurely a heavy bolter or a Lascanon would be better
