So I figured out the genestealer thing.

They wrap their web around the upper torsos of dead people and swing them around with simple "straps" that make them move simple and... I think it'd be nice if the spiders scream "Help" in a weird horror-esque way.

Not done yet by a long mile, still have 'fake webbing' and a lot of white web and bloody bits to paint. I still have more to glue/scrape off them.

I know you're controversial but I wanna give some genuine criticisms to at least make you a decent hobbyist.
1. Fill up the gaps on your models. You can get Green Stuff, an Epoxy Putty, Sprue Goo, etc.
2. Learn to touch up your models after an ink wash. Your trims, flat surfaces, and individual details are getting drowned by the shade and need a dry brush or a small amount of paint to touch it back up.
3. Magnetize and Sub Assemble big models before gluing it together. Knights have a whole selection of guns as is, so giving yourself one specific pose limits their true potential. It's easier to get every detail painted before being fully assembled due to those individual bits.

Also learn the lore of the army you're using before you try doing stuff like this. It's not canonical for a knight household to pledge allegiance to another army from another world.

if we look at units which are meant to do well against elite units we are looking for particular profiles, something like inceptors who have plasma cannons s 8/ap -3/d 3 and they fire 6 twin-linked shots and can then fuck off because they are fast and relatively defensive
inceptors will tear a squad of terminators a new asshole, but the terminators won't even get a wound in on overwatch when these fuckers deep strike up to 6" away, and they'll do it for 120 points

Does anyone else think that Crusade is a pretty massive waste of potential? Playing it should feel like doing a D&D campaign, but with your force as your character. There should be different builds, more narrative components. Those adventure in a book modules that 5e did would be exactly the kind of thing GW could make a killing making.

Using as many infantry models as possible from the 8th edition starter, shadowspear play set, and indomitus box set because I bought those in the past. Want to minimize future purchases. The removal of weapon options. Terminators would usually have much stronger weapons but the rules team generalized combi weapons so units known for having the most versatile options are now useless. Plasma Guns, Melta Guns, Autocannons; even their melee options fit their size. Now they use the same generic profile as a basic marine, so why not just use a basic marine?

The cool thing about greyshields is you can paint every guy to be a different first founding chapter. So you can have rainbow marines and the way you mark them as greyshields is the gray chevron on the shoulderpad. It really lets you make a unique army. Or you can do like just two chapters you like to keep it somewhat cohesive. Like you can do Salamanders with one Iron Fist I'm the aggressor squad, or mix in a white scar biker for visual variety. Or commit and have every marine be from chapters that makes sense.

The problem with Crusade is that, like everything else about the edition, the devs half-assed it and botched it in the execution. The Mechanicus has all sorts of byzantine laws about who is allowed to produce certain tech, and where, and how, and whether or not it's sanctioned, and rogue Magi breaking this are routinely hunted down and made examples of in horrific ways that border on the Dark Eldar levels of cruelty by their own internal "Mech Inquisition" - because if they don't, it can cause massive problems, even full-scale wars between entire alliances of Forge Worlds. All of the details behind this get into realpolitik lore that is probably above your retarded low-IQ ability to even understand.

It's also a matter of scale. The fact that you can't take entire squadrons of jetbikes in every Marine army across the galaxy doesn't mean the AdMech cannot make a jetbike. If they understand the technology to make something, congrats, they could make one by hand. If that takes them a matter of a few months to build one by hand, multiple that by a million, and after MILLIONS OF MONTHS (aka hundreds of thousands of years) they might have one for each planet in the Imperium, which means you'd still basically never see it on the tabletop.

For it to be something you can see across the whole galaxy in numbers, they don't need to know how to make it. They need to know how to make the kind of factories and parts that can manufacture it. That's an entirely different fucking technology, and it's why they rely on STC fragments to build things - so they can produce them efficiently and in large enough numbers to actually do something.

There's nothing "questionable" about the canonicity of the FFG stuff - it's outright been obliterated from the setting. All of those games took place in the Calixis Sector. The 8th edition rulebook stated that the Calixis Sector was entirely annihilated by the Great Rift when it opened and has been deleted from the setting with everything in it. I've been thinking about how to deal with our new knight overlords. Skew lists aren't the answer, if you do that you'll just get steamrolled by the other tough armies out there. I think board control lists are the way to go, but I feel like board control is something marines struggle with currently, funny meme lists like "200 guardsmen" or "kroot carpet with some tanks" isn't something we're able to pull off.
Anyone have any ideas on how to better play against these stompy robots without gimping our ability to fight literally anything else?

so let's compare damage ratings, obviously if you fire into your target with oath things are going to die or get really hurt, but we're going to give lethals from the iron priest as well
Predator firing at 24" will do 8 damage to the new canis, an oathed predator will do 6 and it can do it from 48" which is safer and you're much more likely to have oath since double oath is literally army defining and should be standard in marine lists
plasma wagon will do 6 damage, oathed wagon will do 6 damage and again from 24"
my personal favorite is the las fusils though, 10 damage at 24" is funny if overcosted
it's just more advantageous to be able to split fire into two oathed targets, from a safe distance, because a lot of space marine vehicles are on a 3+ save with no invuln, and the one unit that can survive okay-ish in charging range doesn't really need rapid fire to begin with

The point that anon made by posting the example of the eldar model is that GW used to make their models with the expectations that people will kitbash the shit out of them.
So they had this odd proportions, flat and ball joint connections everywhere to make it as easily as possible.
Can't recall if it was in the guard codex or a white dwarf but GW said to guard players to just kitbash the plasma guns from the extra plasma pistols from the marine kits or random plasmaguns.
Kitbashing and conversion was expected, so the models where made with that in mind.
