TQ: Do you still play your first commander? If not, why did you stop? (Not counting precons, of course)
>>95944535>>95949133He's better 1v1 than in a 4 player pod. Cruel is ass in multiplayer
>>95951386 (OP)>TQNothing can ever make me part ways with the king of wheels.
>>95951386 (OP)>Do you still play your first commander? no
>If not, why did you stop?my group never lets my cool demons survive even a single round and I don't want to play colorless shit with him
Single arrives in the mail this Friday, excited to make a deck around her. What am i in for?
>>95951805>karona>excitingoof you're in for a rough time
>>95951386 (OP)>TQim honestly not even sure who my first commander was i want to say nemata or laquatus? i dont play either of them anymore either way though just because i got bored of them
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
Also posting goblin sex in this thread, too.
>>95952053> 30 life> not 32.451 life starting totalTell me how I know you've never played a real game of magic in your life.
>>95951386 (OP)>tqHell yeah I do. I held onto him during the $100+ days too, because fuck the faggots who turned this game into a stock market.
>>95951386 (OP)>TQ: Do you still play your first commander? If not, why did you stop? (Not counting precons, of course)Not anymore. My first deck was a Muzzio artifact fishing deck. It had a pretty decent win rate, in that I was rarely seen as an early game thread so I would just quietly build up a boardstate and as long as I didn't get caught in the crossfire of someone else's spells I would largely get ignored until my tech came online/blightsteel collossus out of nowhere and the rest of the table went "Oh, right. Muzzio."
Its still intact and I could play it whenever, but I've made more decks since then and most of them have proved to just be more interesting to play. Muzzio is good at what he does, but it means churning through my deck for the same handful of cards every time, so it just gets repetitive.
>>95951386 (OP)>TQ: Do you still play your first commander? If not, why did you stop?Oh, not at all. My first commander was a Grimgrin Zombie Tribal shitpile. I took it apart years ago to make better zombie decks.
>>95951717Saved to my MtG folder. Thank you for contributing.

They should have came out with rules/an expansion for Archenemy: Commander alongside this set.
>>95952793I think he's be a fun izzet equipment voltron deck
>>95952242I need to rebuild my Edgar desu. I like Caesar better, but Edgar was still fun and I miss the variety. Gotta dig his cards out of like 3 other flop decks of mine though.
>No Zorn and Thorn card or partner cards
WE GOT FOUR CLOUDS WHAT IS THIS HORSESHIT
>>95952793I wouldn't build a single card of him, I would toss this FIRE card into the trash. And that's what no one did.
>>95952940Alphinaud and Alisaie have Partner With each other.
They suck hell though.
>Broodmoth on field
>Play Accursed Marauder
So I do the normal Marauder stuff everyone sac's something, but I can bring what I sac'd back (the Marauder) only for his edict ETB to go off again and make everyone sac two creatures in total?
>>95953008Nothing seems to be erroneous.
>>95952793I just stuffed mine in Mairsil since he already has the Quicksilver Elemental I got for a quarter a decade ago, fuck the haters
>>95953104Would build in a fucking heartbeat holy fuck
>>95952940Only three Clouds.
Cloud of Darkness is totally unrelated to the FF7 Cloud.
>>95953104>waifus to make the waifufags happy>goku to make minorityfags happy>vehicles to make designteamfags happy>7 dragon ball chase cards to make whalefags happyIt'd dwarf LOTR and FF. I'd be amazed if Hasbro wasn't begging for the opportunity.
>>95953471Mono White Cloud
Boros Cloud
Naya Cloud
Najeela Cloud
>>95953514>Najeela CloudDoesn't count
>>95953554It's not a competition, there are 4 printings of cloud in the set and 0 of Zorn and Thorn, they could have just as easily given them a through the ages printing or just an actual card.
>TQ
I do sometimes but not very often, I built him super retarded and durdly
>>95951386 (OP)>TQCaptain Sisay is more often the commander of the deck nowadays but Karametra still works well enough.
>>95952793Pulled him along with the mono versions of Cloud and Sephy at the pre-release. Gave it to a friend who wanted to build him as they only ever build Izzet decks and has done a weird combo of
>>95952862 and
>>95952921>Friend doesnโt attack with them all game until weโre the only two at the table left>Know he has something planned so chuck everything I have in front of it>Flashes in Embercleave, then casts Mizzix Mastery from the Borne Upon a Wind theyโd done earlier in the turnCredit where itโs due, itโs been at least 9 years since Iโve seen a Mizzix Mastery be played
>>95953499Doesnโt DB have its own card pretty successful card game now? Hasbro would probably bend over backwards like they did for FF, but I donโt see Toei giving them the IP.
>>95953698Maybe in Japan, haven't noticed anything big for DBZ over here. FF also had their own game but still let Hasbro in. Given that MTG isn't that popular in Japan and by and large Japanese games aren't that popular outside of Japan it's not a bad strat to let Hasbro have it for a set.
Final Fantasy Andy here.
Sorry for killing your game, people who aren't fans of UB.
But I have a question. Are the commander decks a limited print run? They seem to be sold out almost everywhere for FF, and I'm tight on cash right now. I'd like to buy one, but I'm comfortable waiting if I'll be able to find them in a store reasonably later on.
>>95954076Theyโll get reprints like previous UB crossovers (namely Warhammer 40k and LotR) but theyโre usually only sold by Hasbro to retailers, LGS, etc. in their groups of 4 precons and there will always be ones more popular than others so theyโll be harder to find and usually more expensive.
>>95951700Magar better in that regard?
>>95954091>Theyโll get reprints like previous UB crossoversAwesome.
>usually more expensive.Damn
I just want the FFX deck really. Maybe XIV money allowing.
Thanks for the info.
>>95951386 (OP)>TQYeah, occasionally. He's still fun for casual games if a little unimpressive.
>>95951386 (OP)>TQNo. I wanted to be allowed to actually play instead of just getting hated out immediately, so I switched to Elsha.
>>95951386 (OP)>TQ:No, turns out casting rat colony over and over gets old fast
>>95951386 (OP)>TQ: Do you still play your first commander?Original deck was ultra budget (no card over $0.25 other than the commander) and kinda fun to play since it was still functional, but Miirym is so stupidly broken that, even with a $20 pile of draft chaff dragons and blue flicker effects, she gets removal held up for her and ultimately the deck does nothing except kingmake whoever's running the actual strongest deck at the table since no one's got removal left for them. And the shitty budget green ramp can't keep up with the commander tax.
Reworked her into clone tribal because it's funny having 120 Miiryms on the field. Still stupidly strong, still gets hated to the point of making the deck unplayable at most tables, but at least it's conceptually fun.

>>95951386 (OP)>TQ: Do you still play your first commander? If not, why did you stop?Nah I dismantled it like a decade ago. Hard control/stax, included so many cards that would untap him so I'd tap/untap/tap/untap/tap every turn to lock the entire board down. The win con was "chip damage from my creatures over 10+ turns". This was also back when my friends ran pretty much zero removal, and the random odd card they did play I countered it with one of the like 20 fuckin counterspells the deck had. Everyone hated it
>>95954284Good. I'm tired of 3+ color commanders. We need more good 2/mono colored.
>>95954344I am fucking DYING for more monocolored legendaries. I hate how all the 2-3 color legendaries seem to be built for commander first, and regular Magic second
>>95951386 (OP)>TQas much as i love Sliver overlord, he got boring fast.

Thanks to Genji Glove I can now actually win games moving first too.
This is my Omo list. General plan is get a shit ton of lands and mana from all the additional lands per turn, then use Ashaya, Braulios, Greensleeves, Lumra or Hydra Broodmaster for big shit.
Trying to not lean too heavy into things that only work when Omo is on the board, like the Spawning Kraken, Elvish Archdruid and Scion of Oona but have Maskwood Nexus as a backup.
Also have Reshape The Earch and Gates as an alternative WinCon.
>>95954384Im having fun with Shadow. He's like Yuriko-lite but I can use the fun artifacts like Spine of Ish Sah or Ugin's Nexus.
>>95954586>any way to not make it uninteresting and predictable?Have every single sliver in Magic, separated out of the deck. Shuffle that pile, deal out a number of slivers equal to the creature slots in the deck. No matter what you're dealt, that's what you play with that game night
>>95954586Use Hivelord as the commander, unironically.
>but it'll get exiledYou'd be surprised how much indestructible still fucks people up.
>>95951805>all the goad auras>bloodthirsty blade>slot in Alexios, Slicer, Kain, and maybe Tahngarth for redundancy>Pramikon and Windborn Muse effects for good measure.
>>95954677Can confirm, the moment indestructible hits the field is the moment my swords to plowshares goes to the bottom of my library.

Alright Im gonna build her. Give me your funniest suggestions for creatures to copy. Im gonna omit the extra combat creatures. But Dong Zhuo is going in for sure. Probably Mindclaw shaman too
>>95954738Not something they want to block, but, if they do, you can end up doming someone else to turn off lifegain.
Blasphemous Act is also a funny card.
>>95954738>Doesn't say non-tokenI detect potential shenanigans with large creatures, such as:
>Pathrazer of Ulamog>Angrath's Marauders>Borderland Behemoth>Molten Primordial
>>95954756>shenanigans with large creatures>mentions an Eldrazi>it isn't It That BetraysCome on, anon
>>95954788I just prefer Pathrazer because it's cheap, and sending three copies of it at someone takes them out of the game just as well as three copies of It That Betrays.
If you're willing to spend the cash (or proxy it) then by all means.
>>95954586>any way to not make it uninteresting and predictable? No. Tutors fundamentally destroy what makes Commander interesting by making your deck far more consistent. The only way to make them more "interesting" is to intentionally pull suboptimal choices and at that point why bother playing a tutor in the first place?
>>95954815I feel like some commanders and decks struggle without the ability to search some answers and pieces.
Searching for a game winning loop is boring, but getting lands or artifacts or creatures on the field that let you execute your gameplan after removal or counters or just fast enough to compete with other decks at the table is helpful.
Who's the most fun Rakdos commander?
>go to magiccon
>holy shit this is fun
>everyone is chill
>fun games of commander all day
>today, go to lgs
>2 guys playing precon
>kk, lets go down a level
>3rd guy is playing pantlaza, proceeds to shit out gishath, finale of devastation, ghalta, drops his whole hand, draws 7
>hes super excited
>give him shit
>precon player board wipes
>says nothing and leaves after
>>95954823Then they should put in more finishers or build the deck properly with more synergy and long term value building cards instead of creating greed piles.

>>95954633For a long time I thought it was a dude with a pumpkin helmet until I read the creature type
What's a good deck box to show off my commander? Want something good but like sub-30 bucks. Dice holder optional.
>>95954833Depends what your definition of fun is. I like Juri because it's a time bomb that players really start sweating over if they don't have exile or -1/-1 effects
>>95954888gamegenic squire plus
Why is krenko so fun? It's not even the most expensive deck I've built. But for some reason the flexibility of going wide for combat or burning the table out. Turbo card draw with skullclamp feels right.
The situation with these Final Fantasy cards is just frustrating. I've been setting money aside since the beginning of the year so i could really splurge on FF when it came out, i love the series and i knew i would want to make multiple decks. But the prices are just ridiculous, and they're not getting any better. I have money, but i just can't bring myself to spend THIS much on it. I'm someone who loves collecting things, i don't proxy simply because i find it cool to own the cards, but at this rate bizarrely enough i'll end up proxying the set that actually means the most to me, because the prices are just absurd
>>95954867Some players just can't help themselves. Even against people just trying to play precons.
>>95954954Same dude. I've heard from people who know Canadians that pricing is only an American issue cause Japan refused to ship the magic cards here cause of tariffs. Meaning Canada and Mexico got twice as much as us.
>>95954983Well i'm Brazilian and shit's really bad down here too, so i don't know. Fucking Vivi is going for 90USD down here, its absurd
>>95954809>If you're willing to spend the cashWhat are you--
Oh, god damn it, it happened again, didn't it? A card that I picked up for $2 has changed price.
>>95954998Yeah it seems to be hovering around $10 - $12 now, which ain't crazy money but still.
>>95954998I played a lot of EDH back in RTR, and Cyclonic Rift was everywhere for like $4. Everyone had one, especially the new players.
It's still surreal to me that it's now a big boy tryhard nofun moneybags card that we're all supposed to be upset about.
Fake or real, what do you think?
>>95955006The curse of having been playing this game since Onslaught block, I suppose. Sometimes, I shell out for expensive cards for my friends or give them things from my collection for free, just because I've been playing for so much longer and have a weirdly unfair advantage because of it. Really kicked it a few years back when I suggested Mox Opal for a friend's artifact deck, still thinking of it as an $8 card at most.
>>95954879I'm sorry I must be misunderstanding you; I think you're trying to suggest that tutors should be replaced with draw engines and color appropriate goodstuff. I have to be misunderstanding you because that would be way too stupid to honestly believe.
>>95955019>poison counters>"A category-Phi substance"I'm going to call real because a faker would be a bit more conservative about that kind of implication.
>>95955019Pretty fucking good fake if it is, I even recognise some of the art from the previews.
Now the question is does the poster want to try showing off all the cards instead of this haphazard pile?
Any personal predictions on final fantasy prices?? I'm hoping the reprints crash play booster box prices in the next few months.
>>95955055That's what I'm counting on.
I have negative interest in the Spiderman set beyond it being a fresh set of jangling keys for the finance nerds to gush over and hopefully dump FF for cheap.
>>95955055Scalpers are going to buy out the reprint stock, too. Price memory is a thing.
>>95955066Final Fantasy is standard legal though. There's no way scalpers will buy out the set for 3 years.
>>95954882>For a long time I thought it was a dude with a pumpkin helmetthis is wotc's art direction for a long time now, to have female characters drawn like men, you'll be surrpised at just how many there are right now
maybe in fifty years or so a new unglued set will look at this period of mtg history and shake its head as to how much of a fall from grace it is, we deserve a better class of gestapo
>>95951907>>95954722nta but I've been debating building her and all the other "double crossers" that opponents gain control of like Sleeper Agent/Xantcha/Kain/etc. Is she really that hated?

>>95955019>poison counterslmao you fucking W H A T
When are the FF reprints gonna happen? I've heard that it will happen in 1-2 months but is this true?

>>95955144>have a legendary called kilo>will also have a legendary called mileswhat did wotc mean by this?
I can't decide if I should make my FF focused aristocrat deck Mardu Terra, Orzhov Squall, or mono black Sephiroth.
>>95955152take a wild guess
who is the angel that lost her mind during the eldritch moon/innistrad shit and sent everyone into full on purge the unclean mode?
>>95955105Yes. Without question. Holy fuck I have never seen the energy go sour in a play group faster than when someone drops one of those on the board. Do it anyway if you want, just know if players get a chance they'll probably target you first.
>>95955019So what's warped going to be? New form of Suspend?

>>95954882I actually thought that too.
>>95955089Every time I hear about how WotC quite literally hates their old cards, especially ones based on real myth or history like Mirage, I just get actually angry. Powered the deck down after many complaints but that just ended up with everyone hating the deck me included. So I just upgraded it to full degeneracy again and use it to play arch enemy once in a while.
Still my favorite deck.
On another note, they really powercrept carddraw. I recall having to jump through hoops to draw cards in colorless. Now I get shit like Palanthir and The One Ring with theur only limiting factor being how much Im willing to spend on cardboard.

Is there a good way to build a Venat deck?
I really want to have her as a commander, but the problem is that 'legendary tribal' in mono white doesn't seem to give a lot of good synergy. You want to play a bunch of legendaries, but those legendaries don't have anything in common besides BEING legendary, so there's not a lot of common synergy to work with.
The closest thing to a plan I have been able to come up with is to lean into white's equipment enablers and basically just have the plan of teching up whoever the best fighting legendary I have on the field is. But this feels like a weak plan.
If all else fails, I might resort to just having an Ardbert, Warrior of Darkness deck instead which is still legendary matters but has a stronger payoff to using it, and have Venat as one of the 99. But I figured I would check here and see if there is a version of a Venat deck that actually works.
>>95951386 (OP)>TQ>Sheoldred the apocalypseI got real tired of saying "draw tax, take 2" what felt like every thirty seconds
>>95957718And of course I forgot my image.
>>95957718>>95957806Two things here.
1. You haven't yet used the flurbenfactor - your deck will ultimately be: cast spell, draw card. I know you want to play around her 7, but it's unlikely you'll do it reliably.
2. Should you want to do it because of basedness, you'll want to do a legendaries matters deck obviously.
Can I get some advice on my Golbez list? I'm honestly not sure if the recursion stuff is necessary.
https://archidekt.com/decks/14048916/golbez_artifacts
>>95957854>you'll want to do a legendaries matters deck obviouslyOkay, but how do you do that WELL in mono white? You've got things like heroes podium and flowering of the white tree, but that means your deck is very reliant on a small number of enablers that turn your deck from a bunch of cards that don't synergize or interact with each other in any meaningful way into one where "at least they have bonuses".
The card draw is fine, but it still feels like I'd get my clock cleaned by any proper deck with a real synergy it is building from.

That's half the reason i'm making a powered down version. Her discount applies to everything not just instants and sorceries, there's gotta be something more interesting you can do with that.
I'm just a sucker for any character or archetype in games that lets me bleed myself in exchange for power.
>>95957806speaking of this particular flip card I have a question since I put her in ratadrabik
if I make a copy of her front side, can I even activate the tap ability to exile a nonland? I know she can't transform as a token but does that prevent the activation, resolution or do I get to exile but she just doesn't flip
also if I copy the flip side, do I get the front side as clones copy the front side I believe. or is the copying ability different and can copy the flip side
couldn't find this easily so I thought asking here

Unwinding Clock to untap mana rocks on other people's turns. Flash enablers to cast spells on other people's turns. Curiosity effects to give me card draw on either damage done or life gain.
The goal is to just always be drawing cards and drop mana rocks, dealing damage and gaining life every time I do so, and the mana rocks themselves enable me to cast MORE mana rocks the next time things untap. If I am lucky enough to draw unwinding clock and a flash enabler, I can play mana rocks on other people's turns. This also triggers her first card draw ability as long as I can do it twice or more.
Its basically Purpheros in esper colors, with lifegain. The deck won't be JUST mana rocks, there will be creatures that help make the engine pack more punch or benefit from life gain (Karlov turns into a fast recharging repeatable removal, etc) and removal or protection spells will also be included as long as they cost 3 mana. But the goal is still to shove a copy of every mana rock I can get my hands on in there, and have that be as big of a chunk of the deck as I can manage.
>>95958172You lose too unless you've got Treasonous Ogre or something that can prevent damage like Glacial Chasm. I do run Exoskeleton though because lifegain decks can still be obnoxious.

But on turns where you attack with him, you'll be able to cast from exiled cards on your second main phase. But ONLY the ones you exiled that turn, not previous turns.

>>95958435no they dont you fucking retard.
end of your NEXT turn -> next turn's endstep
next endstep -> this one, unless it's skipped via a time stop like ability
>>95958435to be clearer had reckless impulse been worded "until end of turn" then you lose the cards at the end of the current turn just like dragonhawk, but since it says "until end of next turn", and your turn had already passed (because turns start basically at untap), then you keep the cards for another round
>>95958435>They both work the same wayThe "very next end step that happens" is not the same as "the end of your next turn"
I have a question about Vivi as mainly a Yugioh player who has a decent amount of Magic knowledge. When Vivi's text box says, "Activate only on your turn and only once per turn," I am assuming that is a hard once per turn, correct? I have no interest in the card, but interested in a deeper understanding of the rules of Magic.
Post the three most commonly played decks of your favorite person to play against.
>Obeka (original)

>>95958472What do you mean "a hard once per turn"
>>95958472yeah it's a "hard" once per turn
what do you imagine a "soft" once per turn would look like?
>>95958472you can flicker him (cause him to leave the battlefield and return somehow) to reset it, but outside of that, yes, hard once per turn.
>>95958504NTA, but how are people able to use the effect multiple times a turn via Agatha's Soul Cauldron?
>>95958501>>95958503In Yugioh, we have "hard" and "soft" once per turn. For example, in Yugioh, say Vivi was a card. At the start of the effect it would read, "Once per turn." This would be considered "soft," because say you had played another Vivi or got it to leave the board and come back, you could use the effect once again because the game treats it as a new copy. A "hard" once per turn explicitly states at the end of the effect, "You can only use the effect of Vivi once per turn," and the game state remembers that a Vivi has triggered once this turn.
>>95958504Well, in Yugioh, that would be considered soft actually, because you could in theory use it again. Hard once per turns have no way to get around them.
>>95958523because it's not a blanket restriction for the ability in specific, it's a restriction on the specific creature that has the ability. It's the same principle as flickering it. The Vivi that comes back is a "new" Vivi that hasn't activated the ability yet, so it can do so even if the previous Vivi already activated it.
>>95951386 (OP)>TQ: Do you still play your first commander? If not, why did you stop?Of course. After seeing how ridiculously overvalued these cards became of course I held onto Ghoulcaller Gisa, she quickly became my magic-waifu next to Sheoldred
>(Not counting precons, of course)Oh, that one even moreso. I made a proxy for the first time just for it. At first it was a printing of Obama as Zedruu the Greathearted. >>95958535ah there's nothing "hard" in mtg if that's the case, because there are always exceptions and card text will always override basic fundamentals of the game, like picrel

>>95958523In Magic, when a card leaves the game and comes back, in the game's eye, it's a brand new object. It's how people get around Exhaust abilities too: flicker and it's a "brand new card" so you can do it again
>>95958523>Agatha's Soul Cauldronevery creature with a counter, has that activated ability. Read the card replacing the text vivi with "this card"
> Add X mana in any combination of U and/or R, where X is THIS CARD's power. Activate only during your turn and only once each turn.So you can activate each card separately.
>>95958535technically the game state does know you activated vivi. You cant activate the card again on your turn.
The game also has rules where a card leaving and re-entering the zone counts as a new object.
>>95958535In that case Vivi is "soft"
>>95958535hard once per turns are super rare in mtg. I think there are only a couple and I can't even remember what those are and if they really were "hard" either. so no that one is not
>>95958549I don't think you read the question.
>>95958536This anon did.
>>95958564>I don't think you read the question.sure didn't, thought that card was a random flicker effect and assumed like a dumbass
>>95958472Hard once per turns do not exist in MTG, at most you get once per duel/game effects. If you can flicker a creature from the grave or from the battlefield then you always earn your reward for it because it's always considered a separate entity even if it says "when CARDNAME does X, once per turn". Not asked for but kind of important: missing the timing literally does not exist in MTG, you should really appreciate that. I tried to get into Yugioh really hard once and got very discouraged every fucking time I found out my combo/hate card doesn't work just because I'm not in a certain part of the stack. Fuck Yugioh and fuck Black Horn of Heaven. Chaining is so fucking inferior to the stack it drives me nuts.
>>95958591You can't hold priority in YGO so it's literally only your own fault if you can't chain at the right time.
>>95951386 (OP)Mine was a heavily modified PreCon, and I took it apart after a year. It didn't work. While I thought it over, I built a couple other decks. Then SOI came out, and Olivia, Mobilized for War intrigued me. So I took the remnants of the Jeleva deck and built a RB Madness Vampire Tribal deck. I still have it, though it's very casual on the power scale and Anje eventually took the helm.
I don't build many decks anymore. I have to get really excited about a card to start thinking about building. I have 8 decks of varying power and levels of cruelty.
>>95958591Just don't use cards that say "when", anon.
>TQ
I do indeed still play my first commander.
His 99's been ship of Theseus'd but they're still the same goblins that came outta the precon box a decade ago.
>>95958599No fuck you, it's not about priority, if multiple effects happen at once then it literally gets around the conditions for Black Horn of Heaven and cucks you out of a counter when your opponent special summons certain monsters. Fuck Yugioh and fuck anyone that enjoys playing decks that revolve around a single archetype because that's practically the ONLY kind of deck you're allowed to play nowadays in your baby cookie cutter game.
>>95951386 (OP)>TQnaturally
she's gotten a bit of a glow-up since coming out of the precon box, though
>>95958546That makes sense, that was going to be my next question, I know that card text can overwrite the rules in Magic and am familiar with Platnium Angel.
>>95958553I should be a little bit more thorough in my response, just because this is regarding rules text. Obviously, the game has some form of memory, or there would be nothing stopping you from activating Vivi again and again without blinking/playing another. You being able to activate it once again without doing any of the aformentioned steps is obvious. I knew that new copies of cards are considered new game objects, however I didn't know if say a Vivi that was flickered was considered a Vivi or a new Vivi if that makes sense, just because I have not seen many MtG cards with such percise wording. Normally such an ability would be a tap effect, so tapping the permenant would be its once per turn barring the ability to untap. That is why I was questioning if stating "Activate .... and only once per turn," applied to the player or the permenant itself. The discrepency comes from the fact that in Yugioh itself, the "You can activate the effect of X once per turn," applies to all copies of the card, regardless if that newly summoned one was a seperate game piece.
>>95958591Missing the timing hasn't been relevant since... 2014? Since Fire and Ice Hand. The only other cards I can think of with a missing the timing since is Paleo, but that is only because that would allow you to resummong your entire grave to the activation of a single card.
>>95958666No he has a point if he's talking about Black Horn of Heaven. On the surface it looks like a pretty much catch-all for anyone spamming special summons but it's so incredibly easy to miss the timing on that because of how most special summons work that it basically makes the card useless.
Magic needs HOPT effects.
YGO got it right.
>>95958721They would just use that as an excuse to print even more stupidly ridiculous shit than Screaming Nemesis.
>>95951386 (OP)>TQXenagod stays ever build not only for when i don't want to think, but also when introducing new people in the lgs since its simple and fairly effective at the powerlevel we play at

>O-Only one strategy!Still playing Dragon Link baby. Won't find that shit in Standard with the current state of aggro decks being better than all the removal. Nosewater would never dare print a card like SPoly or Evenly Matched to answer the spiraling power level of threats.
>>95958676>Black Horn of HeavenI didn't say he didn't have a point. I am just saying, the game has been designed in such a way for over the last decade that cards really don't miss timing anymore. Black Horn of Heaven just happens to be a bad card, its one card, move on. Its ironically better then it was when he is describing it just because there are more inherent summons in Yugioh with Links/Xyz/Synchro then it was in 2006/2014.

>Zuko (forma de top knot)>Azula>Ozai>Jet>Sozin>Hama>Long Feng>Yangchen>maybe Mai
>>95959967>firebenders>anything other than monored or red/[color]Yeah uh no.
>>95959884I might. His playstyle is very similar to Izzet Sarkhan without the retarded "only the creature you played" clause.
>>95959979Ozai and Azula could both easily be monoblack
but I have a feeling Avatar is going to be a very multicolored set
>>95958535People whine at hard once per turns because magic strategies often abuse them.
Karlach was not pricy at all until people realized "Oh shit I only need one extra combat to close it out". People also bitched about abilities tied to expend from Bloomburrow.
>>95959871>there were no cards in Aetherdrift with 'zoom' in the nameHow'd they fuck up a set so bad damn
>>95959523The four precons will be named:
>Wonders of the air nation>Strength of the earth nation>Resourcefulness of the water nation>Horrors of the fire nation
>>95959983I like the effect but I worry about the lack of colors and also his CMC is a little pricey. With that being said I think he's a really cool addition to the red copy archetype
>people are more hyped for fucking avatar than spiderman
It's really over for marvel, isn't it?
>>95960057I hope they both crash and burn and take Wizards with them
>>95960059Wizards definitely overpaid Disney for Marvel. With how sets work, they had to have paid well in advance, meaning during Marvel's heyday.
>>95960029Also
>Spellslinger/flying/token monks>Counters, life gain>Draw cards, equipment>Vehicles/burn
>>95960057>>95960081It went well with the secret lairs, but like the secret lairs they will be overhyped and have some very broken effects but no one plays them because all the collectors/investors got to them first, so no one will play the good cards outside of a few autistic whales.
>>95960057Avatar has a relatively clear map to fit into magic's existing system. Spiderman does not and frankly everybody is sick to death of marvel. I have yet to see one of these SLD whale marvel commanders in the wild at my LGS.
>>95960104The secret lairs went well because of the mechanics and limited supply. If you want to play Deadpool, there is no pack you can open them in. You HAVE to buy the Deadpool secret lair.
These will be standard-legal packs. If you want a card, it'll be readily available. For cheap, in almost all instances.
>>95960107>Avatar has a relatively clear map to fit into magic's existing system>trying to crowbar four elements into five colorsyeah sure
>>95960109>If you want a card, it'll be readily available. For cheap, in almost all instances.Maybe as singles, not in those overpriced packs. Like most of the final fantasy the packs will be so overpriced compared to what you get in those packs no sane person want to buy a box, at most people buy it for draft. Same with AssAssCreed, no one really cared and their packs was so overpriced.
>>95960112There's enough one episode bad guys, generic soldiers, and spirit mumbo jumbo to fill out black.
>>95960084>white/blue (those fucking bird colors)>Green/white>Blue/white>Red/black
>>95959979Firebenders will be red branching into black or white depending on how evil they are.
Maybe Grixis Azula because blue flames.
>>95959979Lightning bending Azula def red/black.
Betting on a blightning with her on it
>>95958926>28If you can't remember 9/11 or a time without internet you're a zoomer
>>95960150>Grixis AzulaEwwwww
>>95960160I remember 9/11.
Was in kindergarten the teachers turned off the lights, went and talked in the hall, then my mom came and picked me up and I was happy school let out early.
Yep. That was 9/11.
>>95960168Search your feelings, you know Wizards never misses a chance to shill 3 color legendaries.
If they shrink Jin's boobs I'm not buying.

>>95960181ESPECIALLY with popular characters.
>>95959979If colors actually meant anything then fire nation would 100% be black+white with no red, but colors don't actually mean anything anymore so they're going to be red because its symbol is a fireball.
>>95960209That was exactly my thought process. Like how the DnD White Dragon is monowhite.
>>95960209>Orzhov strat. Firenation Aristocrat I couldn't get more harder for that
>>95960209>Mardu firenation...I am not a fan and I don't want more 3 color precons, but it would kinda fit.

>>95960339Huh, I expected more desu
>>95960349if every ff had its own set every one of them would be grixis
>>95960339I want to like grixis, but every deck I make with those colors feels off to play for me.
>>95960417grixis inherits mono black's tendency to be uncreatively strong - just play the staples, kill things, then win - blue and red pretty much just support black with counterspells and artifact removal
>>95960436Isn't this kind of a problem for all the shards though? They're just the central color with minor aspects of the two allied ones supporting it?
>>95958762You literally missed the point. Missing the timing should be a thing at all that shit is gay as hell just like all Yuigoh players.
>>95960441>They're just the central color with minor aspects of the two allied ones supporting it?sometimes it's the two color pairing that dominates, sometimes the dominant color really does get so many options with the added colors
for example bant and temur play just like simic, only "better"
sultai meanwhile plays a lot more like a black deck would, because black
esper plays much differently than mono blue
naya doesn't work like mono green - more like "better" gruul and a lot more interesting than selesnya (imo the most boring pairing)
Rate my deck? It wins about 1-in-4 games.
https://archidekt.com/decks/14097289/of_profits_and_tariffs
We need 5 more colors
Purple
-> specializes in planeswalkers, drawing cards and playing foils for reduced costs
Brown
-> specializes in using activated abilities from the graveyard, and drawing from the bottom of the deck, cycling
Orange
-> specializes in turning instants and sorceries into spells and blocking with your opponents lands, also grants bonuses to full art cards
Teal
-> draws cards from the middle of the decks, disallows the use chairs or sitting, manual dexterity cards and removal
Doritos Locos
-> specializes in eating cards for bonus effects, using corn syrup and annihilating mountain dew tokens.
Why do faggots say that you should only win 25% of your games? If you get paired against drooling retards, of course you're going to have a better winrate.
>>95960662>specializes in eating cards for bonus effects, using corn syrup and annihilating mountain dew tokens.Like ante, but instead of "winning" the cards you have to eat them. I would like to eat all the collectorfags/whalefags expensive cards
>>95960670I think my winrate for
>>95960652 would be higher if I didn't play it like a retarded villain like I didn't want to win until there were no other outcomes than that.
>>95960662I've got 5 more colors for you:
>Face-down>Snow>Devoid>Junk (You may only cast or activate abilities of a card type with this mana)>Spellshaper (Reveal/Discard a cardtype from your hand to pay for this mana cost)
So you can only cast one of the instant or sorceries exiled with this every time a lore counter is added to it and you have to cast it the moment it gets added, right?
>>95959523Um aschually black does not mean evil incel
>>95960972Name me the last magic villain that didn't have black in their color identity.
>>95961074I'm honestly thinking about building this, there's a ton of stuff that comes into play already "modified"
>>95961074I can't wait to play this edgelord in my Marath deck.
>>95957718>>95957933Consider that having access to easy card draw in the command zone is very valuable, and the "drawback" of having to play Legendry's isn't really a drawback at all, your options of how you want to build her are pretty broad due to the openness of her "drawback"
I would personally build her as an aggressive beatdown type of deck with stax as a flood valve (Think Thalia or Boromir for example)
>>95961214>>95957933>>95957718Also keep in mind her ability is any legendary spell, not just legendary creatures or even legendary permanents.
>>95960277Blue all the way, winning by making smart decisions feels better than just throwing the sink at someone.
>>95960310This post made me realize how hard choosing a favorite set is, in 10 minutes I changed my mind all between
>Theros>New Phyrexia>Dominaria>Urza's SagaSaying Final Fantasy feels like cheating since I am just biased in favor of the IP
>>95961327i think 6cmc is too much even for the one in a hundred times you get to use every option
>>95961327I like it in Kalamax but that is because I like copying big ass spells
>>95961327It's overcosted for the use most -esp. precon- players would be using it for, but it's fine. I cut mine from my yshtola deck because the narrower use of a specific counterspell was worth only needing to hold up 2 mana instead of 6.
>>95961005you're kidding, right? elesh norn, EOE tezzeret, trostani, sephiroth
>>95961005konda
memnarc
elesh
tezzeret
baral
eldrazi
that one simic leader guy i forget the name of
im probably forgetting more as well
>>95961327It's a cool card. Can be decent if you're running a deck that can afford to leave 6 mana up or have cost reducers (Hinata is a good example).
Otherwise
>>95961340
>>95961005The settings in universe flagship villains are colorless.
>>95961327Unplayable at 6 mana. 2 of its abilities require you sitting on 6 mana hoping your enemy plays something worth using it on, the token probably won't win you the game, if you're sitting on 6 mana your opponent probably won't give a shit if you return something to their hand, and at that point in the game drawing a card is nigh worthless.
It's a trap card. Of you're in a position to actually get the full value out of it you've either already won or already lost. It'd be a solid Spree card where you pay 2 and add an additional mana for each mode but sitting on 6 mana is in hopes to use this card is horrid. When I had it in my deck it never helped me when I drew it and I never wanted to draw it. 6 mana and higher should be reserved exclusively for cards that actively bring the game to a close.
>>95961327I'd rather run Three Steps Ahead.
I'm overwhelmed by the amount of cool commanders introduced in Final Fantasy, I don't know what to build. Give me recommendations please
>>95961629Lightning Army of One seems like a strong commander option. Damage doubler on a commander thats a strong 3 mana fighter with a bunch of keywords is no joke.
>>95961629Tell us what playstyles you like or what deck types you haven't built yet. Otherwise go through this and pick one at random.
https://scryfall.com/search?q=%28type%3Acreature+type%3Alegendary%29+%28game%3Apaper%29+%28set%3Afin+OR+set%3Afic%29&unique=cards&as=grid&order=cmc&dir=
(Also jfc I didn't realize there were 164 in FF. Wizards needs to chill the fuck out).
>>95960191Wedges are a mistake
>>95960191Agreed. 3 color Commanders should exclusively be allied. Enemy colors should never have gone past dual. And WURBG shouldn't exist.
But the design of this game has been a sloppy mess right from the start and a reboot wouldn't help because the design team are genuinely stupid. Stringent color restrictions would have made this game so much more interesting. I wish other nerd companies weren't such incompetent retards and could actually build a viable Commander rival instead of hyper focusing on competitive formats that nobody but troons and neckbeards even play anymore.
>>95961705'04-05 was Kamigawa-OG Ravnica yeah?
>>95961705My favorite playstyle is aggro. I love Xenagos for example
>>95961747Maybe Tifa then?
>>95953698In the west? No. No one plays that shit and they literally rebooted it and invalidated everyones cards recently.

>>95959967I think Ko will be Dimir (could just be a Lazav alter). And maybe the library owl as Orzhov. The bloodbending old lady is probably gonna be dimir too.
Can someone post the list of extremely unique commanders? I never saved it and it was like mono blue auras and stuff like that.
>>95961747Mono green Tifa.

>>95961890>bracketsfuck brackets
>>95961948You pretty much want all power/damage doublers since double strike won't work and it isn't great to attach equipment for an extra 2 power or whatever when the thing dies after it attacks. You want haste, creatures large enough to crew, and damage/power doubling.

you have access to white and blue
if you cant stop people removing your board with access to counterspells and whites phase/indestructible/hexproof effects then nothing can
are you currently in selesnya?
Heroic intervention, flawless maneuverer, clever concealment, eerie interlude, teferi's protection, galadriel's dismissal, guardian of faith, talon gates of madara, boromoir warden of the tower, reprieve, legolas' quick reflexes, tyvars stand, blacksmith's skill, eerie interlude, selfless spirit
>>95962557Why not just run Minwu Soul Sister? Your board gets stupid big.
Looking at taking Ureni apart for Mono-Red Dragons (Temur Dragons isn't anyone's favorite, who'd have guessed? lmao)
Kinda caught between these three.
>Lathliss
Obviously every dragon becomes a payoff in making a 5/5 Dragon token and she has blanket Firebreathing
>Dragonhawk
Provides burn, impulse draw, and is the lowest cmc of the bunch
>Herigast
Dude it's an Eldrazi Dragon that makes all of my dragons rip their way out of other dragons lmao
Anyone with experience with mono-red tribal Dragons? I figure there has to be an artifact subtheme since most mono-red ramp is either one-time rituals or a lot of artifacts (Gauntlet of Might, Gauntlet of Power, Ruby Medallion, Extraplanar Lens, Throne of Eldraine, etc).
>>95963058I have a Ganax deck based on dragons and treasures.
>>95963105What's it like? Do you use a background? I assume something like Guild Artisan
>>95963109Yes. There's a lot of dragon or red cards that work well with treasures or artifacts so the deck pretty much builds itself. I could just add a color but I like having an easy/cheap mana base.
>>95962988>are you currently in selesnya?yeah
I tried to not use too many expensive cards, but my table's power level seems to be increasing and that teferi's protection is looking better every day
>>95963001I mostly wanted to make lifelink work, the plan was to attack big and then get big counters. I actually have an orzhov cleric deck which is actually pretty funny thanks to some of the tribal support it has.
>>95963125That's exactly why I'm not adding a color, despite several Gruul or Izzet options, or even keeping Ureni, a cheap and easily ramped up manabase appeals to me. Any particular all-stars I should be aware of? I'm thinking of going with Dragonhawk for the low CMC and built in draw/burn pressure. Twinflame Tyrant, Dragon Tempest, Scourge of Valkas, and Terror of the Peaks feel like it gives me a lot of options to just rip people down.
Do you run REB or Pyroblast?
>>95963058Dragon's Approach + Thrumming Stone
there I solved your archetype
>>95963139REB, Pyro, and Tibalt's Trickery because I like fucking with people. Cavern-Hoard and Goldspan are obivous staples, and I like the red flip lands from Caverns of Ixalan. Blast furnace hellkite is mono red Atarka, Patron of the Arts is also a cutie. Magda gets you your best cards so she's like the second commander in the deck. Inspiring Statuary is MVP.
>>95963128The biggest life into conters work in instances instead of amount like Pridemates, so Soul Sisters is perfect for it.
Either way, protection>removal in counters decks since you need to build up. I'd rather have a Flare of Fortitude in my hand than a Farewell most of the time.
>>95963227makes sense. I've been going at it the wrong way all along.
>>95963310It also kind of depends on your playgroup. Mine is pretty board wipe heavy, for example. Which means I play more shit like Clever Concealment.
>>95962557Run Lathiel nigga you get like 100 power on the board in like two turns and you get the best protection spells in the game
>win almost every game I play
>dont even use game changers half the time
https://moxfield.com/decks/G7l_yHNEs0SLF74AALnYaA
this deck for example beat a bunch of 4s using non-stop game changers, mana drain, jeska's will. last night 2 players got salty and refused to play with me again.
>extract turn 1 remove kozilek from gitrog deck
>making a few deep sea krakens on turn 4
>getting focused so I bribery archon of ojer tak and ocelot pride out of ceasar deck
>they board wipe
>gitrog player seethes when I flash out time spiral when he casts dread return
>clone legion kefka player + season of weaving to bounce non-tokens
>narsets reversal ruinous ultimatum (without mana rocks he cant cast it again)
>denying wind all of kefka's combos out of his deck
>get 4 copies of shadow of the second sun on me, can now infinitely suspend time warp
>(it's turn 13)
How would you build around this guy?
Is there any way to make him good (like low-mid bracket 4) with the restrictions he has?
