Not in year one. My original intent, when more ambitious about the setting, was for the player to be able to gain things through their own, slower, path, in the long run. With factions like the Cult, Shadow Priestesses, and others being more like short cuts. Short cuts have prices. Things you gain through your own efforts obviously cost effort, but they were meant to have less or no strings attached.

That was when I thought I could manage many years of the image though. As it is, year 2 will likely be the end of it. With that in mind one could imagine, even if they don't gain magic in year one or two (when released) that with effort they could gain magic without the Sana and becoming a member of the Shadow Priestesses. For now, though, in year one, your path is much more limited.

I didn't plan to favor females in the image, if that helps. I simply developed a culture that treated men and women differently, and layers to that based on overall culture, family, or individual preference. Women in Pahl Edin really don't have much in the way of rights, not that the general populace has much in the way of rights. The Shadow Priestesses have power, but it's power that, from the top down, enforces belief and service to Isatum. The Shadow Priestesses ultimately serve the cult.

Baraqu choses to spoil the female player, and even moreso the exotic female player, but his intentions for the player aren't really realized in year one. I'd stress, the player, in that case, it quite literally what every woman in that harem was at one point. Baraqu likes exotic women, enjoys special women, encourages unique practices in his women . . . but you also have a pretty good preview of how that's turned out, repeatedly. His wives don't like each other, scheme against one another, and I don't think some people here understand just how bad a harem full of women that hate each other, and have power (albeit far less than Baraqu), can be.

Now that I took a closer look, I've noticed how convoluted the full spark choices are.
The only way to get a lesser spark early, is in Djinn event when you help the cult against Aladdin, it requires you to have picked isatum in the previous event. And if you want a full spark by the end, you have 2 options either Success or Offer. The first is impossible to get, because Success requires you to have known Aquad previously, which you can't because Grunt Work and Isatum are in the same event bracket. The second one is also impossible because in order to get Offer you must have a vapid pin from the Plot, which is in the SAME event bracket as Djinn. Anons am I missing something? or are the Full Spark options just designed to be cock tease for the player?

I’m skeptical about this one. In my opinion you should earn a waifu and companions introduce another build vector of character creation that I wanna avoid due to planned Quest complexity.
